This article reports on a route to synthesizing fluorescent labeled graft copolymers, on the one hand; and on a concept of tracer‐compatibilizer for facile build‐up of emulsification curves of polymer blends, on the other hand. For these purposes, blends composed of polystyrene (PS) and polyamide 6 (PA6) are chosen. The synthesis of the corresponding tracer‐compatibilizer consists of three steps: (1) copolymerization of styrene with 3‐isopropenyl‐α,α'‐dimethybenzyl isocyanate (TMI); (2) conversion of a fraction of the isocyanate moieties of the resulting copolymer into anthracene ones upon reacting with 9‐(methylamino‐methyl)anthracene (MAMA); and (3) polymerization of ε‐caprolactam (CL) from the remaining isocyanate moieties. The resulting fluorescent labeled graft copolymer, denoted as PS‐g‐PA6‐Ant, is used to build up emulsification curves of PS/PA6 blends in a twin screw extruder (TSE), showing great usefulness of the concept of tracer‐compatibilizer. Although process development is often done in well agitated vessels (e.g. with a retreat curve, pitched blade turbine etc.), there are a sizeable number of contract manufacturers’ still deploying a significant number of anchor agitated process units. For the purpose of observing the Zwietering constant value ‘S’ and few industrially important solid–liquid systems, we conducted extensive suspension experiments with anchor agitated vessels for varying D/T ratios (0.74 and 0.73). In this study, Zwietering's Njs (just suspension speed) and the corresponding ‘S’ factor were obtained for each system over a range of solid loadings. We found that the Zwietering constant was strongly dependent on the nature of the solid–liquid system; i.e. different systems had different ‘S’ values for the same geometrical configuration.  相似文献

In this work catalytic fibrous filters were produced through two distinct processing routes from natural amorphous silica fibers (NASF) and Ni(NO3)2 solution (wet route) and NiO (dry route) as catalyst precursors. The Ni–SiO2 fibers were characterized for X-ray powder diffraction, scanning electron microscope, particle size distribution, specific surface area, nickel contents, porosity, tortuosity, permeability, compressive strength, degree of dispersion, filtration and gas conversion efficiency. Morphological characterization revealed that Ni from wet route was distributed over the silica fibers with significantly lower particle size than the Ni produced through the dry route. Both methods led to a homogeneous distribution of Ni. The catalytic fibrous filter obtained from the dry route showed higher conversion efficiency for both propylene and propane, especially at high temperatures, due to the higher degree of dispersion of Ni particles over the NASF surfaces.  相似文献

Dual phase oxide membranes have shown promising hydrogen permeation fluxes in syngas applications due to their high mixed proton electron conduction (MPEC). However, the conductivity of grain boundaries can be many orders of magnitude lower than that of the bulk and so limits the total conductivity and hydrogen permeation. In this study, the three-dimensional nanoscale oxygen and cation distributions around grain and phase boundaries in a BaCe0.8Y0.2O3-δ-Ce0.8Y0.2O2-δ (BCY-YDC) membrane were quantified by atom probe tomography (APT) and related to average grain boundary conductivity measured by electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS). Segregation varied among the general high-angle grain boundaries analyzed, but no trend from orientation analysis was determined. Correlative APT and electron energy loss spectroscopy (EELS) of one YDC grain boundary revealed composition and cerium valence information, respectively, allowing for the determination of vacancies at the grain boundary. While a specific MPEC membrane is characterized, the results are relevant to proton and electron conduction in a number of technologically important ceramics.  相似文献

We have previously shown, using antibodies, that the sperm alpha6beta1 integrin is involved in mouse gamete fusion in vitro. Here we report the conditional knockdown of the sperm Itgb1 gene. It induced a drastic failure of sperm fusogenic ability with sperm accumulation in the perivitelline space of in vitro inseminated oocytes deleted or not for the Itgb1 gene. These data demonstrate that sperm, but not oocyte, beta1 integrin subunit is involved in gamete adhesion/fusion. Curiously, knockdown males were fertile in vivo probably because of the incomplete Cre-mediated deletion of the sperm Itgb1 floxed gene. Indeed, this was shown by Western blot analysis and confirmed by both the viability and litter size of pups obtained by mating partially sperm Itgb1 deleted males with females producing completely deleted Itgb1 oocytes. Because of the total peri-implantation lethality of Itgb1 deletion in mice, we assume that sperm that escaped the Itgb1 excision seemed to be preferentially used to fertilize in vivo. Here, we showed for the first time that the deletion, even partial, of the sperm Itgb1 gene makes the sperm unable to normally fertilize oocytes. However, to elucidate the question of the essentiality of its role during fertilization, further investigations using a mouse expressing a recombinase more effective in male germ cells are necessary.  相似文献

Interactions between the antioxidant Santonox (4,4′-thiobis(6-tert-butyl-m-cresol)) and the LCST polymer blend of polystyrene (PS) and polyvinylmethylether (PVME) were examined. The presence of the antioxidant caused inhomogeneities in blend films cast from toluene solutions at antioxidant compositions greater than 0.25 wt% of the PVME. Also, the cloud-point of the blend decreased linearly with antioxidant content with a slope of 21 °C/wt%. As expected, the ability of the antioxidant to prevent degradation of the PVME within the blend was found to increase with increasing Santonox composition. Based on these results, an antioxidant composition of no more than 0.10 wt% is recommended in the studies of PS/PVME blends.  相似文献

New heterogenized Pt/Sn catalysts selective for the hydroformylation of 1-pentene have been synthesized. The complex cis-[PtCl2(PPh3)2] and the SnCl2.2H2O or SnC2O4 precursors have been anchored on silica-, magnesia- and alumina-carriers. X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy was used to determine the surface composition and the nature of the anchored species. The hydroformylation activity was found to depend on the type of support and tin precursor used. Only the silica supported catalysts were active in the hydroformylation reaction. Samples prepared from SnCl2-2H2O were 200-fold more active than those prepared from SnC2O4. Selectivity ton-hexanal of the silica-supported catalyst prepared from SnCl2-2H2O was as high as 94.4% at 39.2% conversion of 1-pentene.  相似文献

The initial stages of the deposition of nickel on vitreous carbon from aqueous NiCl2 (10–2M adjusted to 1 M in chloride) has been studied using voltammetric and potentiostatic methods. The morphology of the deposits was observed by scanning electron and optical microscopy. A discussion of the relation between the deposition mechanism and the morphology is presented.  相似文献
