The hydro energy of the gravity water flow from the coal-fired thermal power plant units to the river in an open cooling system of turbine condensers is determined. On the basis of statistical data for a long time period, the water net head duration curve due to the river annual level change, as well as the reduction of the hydro energy potential due to the thermal power plant overhauls periods, are evaluated in the case study of the Thermal Power Plant “Nikola Tesla B” in Serbia. A small hydro power plant is designed for the utilization of this hydro energy, and the economic benefits of the project are calculated. The internal rate of returns and pay back periods are calculated in dependence of the electricity price and total investment costs. The increase of profitability is assessed, bearing in mind that the plant might be realized as the Clean Development Mechanism project according to the Kyoto protocol. The obtained results show that the project is economically attractive, and it can be carried out with standard matured solutions of hydro turbines available at the market. Even for the relatively low electricity price from small hydro power plants in Serbia of 0.08 €/kW h the internal rate of return and the pay back period are 17.5% and 5.5 years. 相似文献

Inherent bistabilities within DNA-assembled fluorescent resonant energy transfer systems demonstrated time-varying optical signals in response to an electrophoretic driving force. Frequency responses of electrophoretically driven FRET systems were shown to be sequence specific. Integration of these signals over time gave near single-molecule sensitivity within a high background of autofluorescence. This research suggests that externally driven nanoscale mechanical systems may help improve information flow within morphologically intact specimens. 相似文献

The human endometrium is a unique tissue undergoing important changes through the menstrual cycle. Under the exposure of different risk factors in a woman’s lifetime, normal endometrial tissue can give rise to multiple pathologic conditions, including endometriosis and endometrial cancer. Etiology and pathophysiologic changes behind such conditions remain largely unclear. This review summarizes the current knowledge of the pathophysiology of endometriosis and its potential role in the development of endometrial cancer from a molecular perspective. A better understanding of the molecular basis of endometriosis and its role in the development of endometrial pathology will improve the approach to clinical management. 相似文献

In recent years the processing speed of computers has increased dramatically. This in turn has allowed search algorithms to execute more iterations in a given amount of real-time. Does this necessarily always lead to an improvement in the quality of final solutions? This paper is devoted to the investigation of that question. We present two variants of local search where the search time can be set as an input parameter. These two approaches are: a time-predefined variant of simulated annealing and an adaptation of the “great deluge” method. We present a comprehensive series of experiments which show that these approaches significantly outperform the previous best results (in terms of solution quality) on a range of benchmark exam timetabling problems. Of course, there is a price to pay for such better results: increased execution time. We discuss the impact of this trade-off between quality and execution time. In particular we discuss issues involving the proper estimation of the algorithm's execution time and the assessment of its importance. 相似文献

A unique technique for direct analysis of soil samples utilizing a special advantage of a transversely excited atmospheric (TEA) CO(2) laser-induced plasma generated at atmospheric pressure on a metal target has been developed. In this technique, a metal subtarget, such as nickel plate, structured with intentional microholes on its surface, each with dimensions of around 100 microm in diameter and depth, was used to selectively trap small sized soil particles by immersing the metal plate subtarget into the polluted soil sample. The trapped small soil particles on the metal subtarget were irradiated by a TEA CO(2) laser (10.6 microm, 1.5 J, 200 ns) at atmospheric pressure under defocused condition with a spot size of 3 mm x 3 mm. This trapping and confining scheme substantially suppresses the blowing off effect; thus, the trapped soil particles can effectively be dissociated and atomized in the microstructured holes. Using this method of a microstructured metal plate subtarget, quantitative analysis was carried out on loam soil samples polluted by Pb. A linear calibration curve was obtained with a detection limit of approximately 50 mg/kg. Preliminary quantitative studies were carried out for a quartz sand sample containing Cr and Hg, resulting in linear calibration curves with detection limits of approximately 25 mg/kg and 10 mg/kg, respectively, at this stage. This paper deals with the problem of optimization of job sequence in a two-machine flow shop problem in the presence of uncertainty.
It is assumed that the processing times of jobs on the machines are described by triangular fuzzy sets. A new optimization
algorithm based on Johnson”s algorithm for deterministic processing times and on an improvement of McCahon and Lee”s algorithm
is developed and presented. In order to compare fuzzy processing times, McCahon and Lee use mean values of their corresponding
fuzzy sets. It is shown that this approach cannot fully explore possible relationships between fuzzy sets. In order to overcome
this drawback we consider different fuzzy sets determined by λ-cuts of the fuzzy processing times. Extensive experiments show

Although Trifolium pratense (Red Clover) is considered to be one of the leading crops for livestock grazing, it could also be used as a potential source of bioactive compounds in phytopharmacy. The aim of this study was to investigate the phenolic content and its biological activity at the growth phases (30 cm, 50 cm, and bud) of this plant. The phenolic compounds in methanolic extracts of T. pratense leaves at three growth stages, obtained by Microwave Assisted Extraction, were quantified using the HPLC-ESI-MS/MS technique, and their antioxidant and antimicrobial activity were assessed. Isoflavonoids, genistein, and daidzein, as well as other phenols, p-hydroxybenzoic and caffeic acids, kaempferol 3-O-glucoside, quercetin 3-O-glucoside, and hyperoside were found in all the extracts, but the content of these compounds was the highest in the extract of the plant at the lowest growth stage (30 cm, vegetative). Therefore, this extract showed the best antioxidant potential and it was most effective against bacterial strains such as Escherichia coli and Enterobacter aerogenes. These results indicated that red clover has potential health benefits, and that growth phase contributes to its biological activity. The extract of red clover at the growth stage of 30 cm is a great source of bioactive compounds and could be used in phytotherapy and nutrition. 相似文献

We report here first-principles-based predictions of the structures, mechanisms, and activation barriers for propane activation by the M2 phase of the MoVNbTeO multi-metal oxide catalysts capable of the direct conversion of propane to acrylonitrile. Our approach is to combine extensive quantum mechanical (QM) calculations to establish the mechanisms for idealized representations of the surfaces for these catalytic systems and then to modify the parameters in the ReaxFF reactive force field for molecular dynamics (MD) calculations to describe accurately the activation barriers and reaction mechanisms of the chemical reactions over complex mixed metal oxides. The parameters for ReaxFF are derived entirely from QM without the use of empirical data so that it can be applied to novel systems on which there is little or no data. To understand the catalysis in these systems it is essential to determine the surface structures that control the surface chemistry. High quality three-dimensional (3D) Rietveld structures are now available for the M1 and M2 phases of the MoVNbTeO catalysts. However the details of the chemical mechanisms controlling selectivity and activity have remained elusive because the catalytically important sites in these Rietveld structures are occupied by mixtures of Mo and V atoms, obscuring the actual distributions of the metals and oxides at the active sites. To solve this problem we use a supercell of the Rietveld structure sufficiently large that all atoms can be whole, then we use Monte Carlo techniques based on ReaxFF to resolve these partial occupations into the optimum configuration of whole atoms still consistent with the X-ray data. We will report the ReaxFF resolved 3D structures for the M2 phase of the MoVNbTeO system. Using the resolved 3D structures we consider the distribution of sites on the important surfaces and carry out ReaxFF Reactive Dynamics (RD) calculations to follow the initial steps of the reactions. Such studies provide insights into the chemical reaction steps on MMO catalysts that should be useful in designing more selective and more active systems. We find that this suggests the critical role of the TeIV oxo chains for activating propene but not propane in the M2 phase. This suggests a new mechanism for this phase. 相似文献

We investigated whether a functional insertion/deletion (I/D) polymorphism of angiotensin-converting enzyme (ACE) influenced antipsychotic treatment. At baseline, and after 8 weeks of treatment with various antipsychotic medications, we assessed patients’ Positive and Negative Syndrome Scale (PANSS) scores, PANSS factors, and metabolic-syndrome-related parameters (fasting plasma lipid and glucose levels, and body mass index). A total of 186 antipsychotic-naïve first-episode psychosis patients or nonadherent chronic psychosis individuals (99 males and 87 females) were genotyped by polymerase chain reaction analysis. The ACE-I/D polymorphism was significantly associated with changes in PANSS psychopathology only (p < 0.05). Compared to ACE-II homozygous males, ACE-DD homozygous and ACE-ID heterozygous males manifested significantly greater decreases in PANSS positive score, PANSS excitement factor, and PANSS cognitive factor. ACE-DD homozygous females manifested higher decreases in PANSS depression factor compared to ACE-II homozygous and ACE-ID heterozygous females. The polymorphism’s effect size was estimated as moderate to strong, while its contribution to the PANSS psychopathology ranged from ~5.4 to 8.7%, with the lowest contribution observed for PANSS positive score changes and the highest for PANSS depressive factor changes. Our results indicate that ACE-I/D polymorphism had a statistically significant but weak gender-specific impact on psychopathology data, and showed no association between ACE-I/D polymorphism and metabolic-syndrome-related parameters. 相似文献
