Carboxymethyl sago pulp (CMSP)/pectin hydrogel beads were synthesized by calcium crosslinking and further crosslinked by electron beam irradiation to form drug carrier for colon‐targeted drug. Sphere‐shaped CMSP/pectin 15%/5% hydrogel beads is able to stay intact for 24 h in swelling medium at pH 7.4. It shows pH‐sensitive behavior as the swelling degree increases as pH increases. Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy analysis confirmed the absence of chemical interaction between hydrogel beads and diclofenac sodium. Differential scanning calorimetric and X‐ray diffraction studies indicate the amorphous nature of entrapped diclofenac sodium. The drug encapsulation efficiency is up to about 50%. Less than 9% of drug has been released at pH 1.2 and the hydrogel beads sustain the drug release at pH 7.4 over 30 h. In this present study, the compression ignition engine was designed to run on CIME (Calophyllum inophyllum methyl ester) biodiesel with nanoparticles. The TiO2 nanoparticle is added to the biodiesel in the form of nanofluid at concentration levels of 100?ppm whereas ethanox is added at levels of 100, 200 and 500?ppm. The nanoparticle and the ethanox are dispersed by the ultrasonication process. The addition of nanofluid reduces the particulate emission like nitrogen oxide (NOx) at 100% load. The efficiency is better and emission is reduced owing to the influence of explosion of water molecules present in the biodiesel. We found ethanox to be a superlative nanofluid to reduce the emission of toxic gas at appreciable levels. We have witnessed a 20% reduction in emission of NOx and 10% reduction of other particulate emission. In addition, the exit geometry of exhaust is modified from a circular shape to an elliptical one and the consequence of the geometry is calculated. 相似文献

Superabsorbent polymers (SAPs) were synthesized by grafting acrylic acid and butyl acrylate onto carboxymethyl cellulose (CMC) modified from Ceiba pentandra (L.) Gaertn. (kapok) cotton, with N,N′‐methylenebisacrylamide as a crosslinker and ammonium persulphate as initiator. The effect of distilled water, saline solution, and applied pressure on superabsorbent was investigated. The product exhibited the maximum water absorbency of 554 g/g in distilled water and 96 g/g in saline solution. The SAP achieved the highest water absorbency under load of 83 g/g under applied pressure of 7.6 g/cm2. The kapok cotton modified cellulose‐based SAP exhibited stronger gel strength than the SAP based on commercial CMC. This is probably due to the higher grafting efficiency (78.3%) of the former. The SAP was characterized by FTIR analysis, thermogravimetric analysis, and scanning electron microscopy. At present, the potential role of the AgNPs/endo-fullerene molecule metal nano-composite has been evaluated over the biosystems in-vitro. The intra-atomic configuration of the fullerene molecule (C60) has been studied in-vitro for the anti-proliferative activity of human breast adenocarcinoma (MDA-MB-231) cell lines and antimicrobial activity against a few human pathogens that have been augmented with the pristine surface plasmonic electrons and antibiotic activity of AgNPs. Furthermore, FTIR revealed the basic vibrational signatures at ~3300 cm−1, 1023 cm−1, 1400 cm−1 for O-H, C-O, and C-H groups, respectively, for the carbon and oxygen atoms of the C60 molecule. NMR studies exhibited the different footprints and magnetic moments at ~7.285 ppm, explaining the unique underlying electrochemical attributes of the fullerene molecule. Such unique electronic and physico-chemical properties of the caged carbon structure raise hope for applications into the drug delivery domain. The in-vitro dose-dependent application of C60 elicits a toxic response against both the breast adenocarcinoma cell lines and pathogenic microbes. That enables the use of AgNPs decorated C60 endo fullerene molecules to design an effective anti-cancerous drug delivery and antimicrobial agent in the future, bringing a revolutionary change in the perspective of a treatment regime. 相似文献

Biodiesel has provided an eco-friendly solution to fuel crisis, as it is renewable, biodegradable and a non-toxic fuel that can be easily produced through enzymatic transesterification of vegetable oils and animal fats. Enzymatic production of biodiesel has many advantages over the conventional methods as high yields can be obtained at low reaction temperatures with easy recovery of glycerol. Microbial lipases are powerful biocatalysts for industrial applications including biodiesel production at lower costs due to its potential in hydrolyzing waste industrial materials. Among them, lipases from yeasts, Candida antarctica, Candida rugosa, Cryptococcus sp., Trichosporon asahii and Yarrowia lipolytica are known to catalyze such reactions. Moreover, stepwise addition of methanol in a three step, two step and single step reactions have been developed using yeast lipases to minimize the inhibitory effects of methanol. The latest trend in biodiesel production is the use of whole-cell as biocatalysts, since the process requires no downstream processing of the enzyme. Synthesis of value added products from the byproduct glycerol further reduces the production cost of biodiesel. Natural convection in a horizontal differentially heated square cavity containing two vertical heat generating baffles is studied numerically. The baffles are assumed to generate heat uniformly at the same or different rates. Asymptotic steady-state results for the vorticity–stream function formulation are presented in the form of streamline and isotherm plots. The fluid flow, heat transfer, and average Nusselt number are investigated for different heat generation ratios and spacing between the baffles. Convection within the cavity gets augmented for increasing values of heat generation ratio. When the two baffles are located very near the cavity walls, an increase in heat generation ratio induces a strong buoyancy convective flow. When they are very close to each other an increase in heat generation ratio strengthens the innermost cell around the baffles, which in turn drives the global flow at a faster rate through a pair of intermediate inner cells. It is found that the blocking effect of the baffles strongly depends on heat generation ratio and spacing between the baffles. The heat transfer rate varies nonlinearly against spacing between the baffles, and the possible physical reason is given. 相似文献

Oxidative stress is a common pathogenesis of diabetes mellitus and asiatic acid (AA) plays an important role in ameliorating those difficulties. The present study was designed the protective effects of AA on altered lipid peroxidation products, enzymic and nonenzymic antioxidants in streptozotocin (STZ)-induced diabetic rats. Diabetes was induced in experimental rats by single dose STZ (40 mg/kg b.w.) injection. Diabetic rats showed significantly increased levels of plasma glucose, thiobarbituric acid reactive substances, lipid hydroperoxides, aspartate aminotransferase, alanine aminotransferase, bilirubin, creatine kinase, urea, uric acid, creatinine and decreased levels of plasma insulin. The activities of enzymatic antioxidants such as superoxide dismutase, catalase, glutathione peroxidase and glutathione-S-transferase and the levels of non-enzymatic antioxidants such as vitamin C, vitamin E and reduced glutathione were decreased in diabetic rats. Oral treatment with AA (20 mg/kg b.w.) showed near normalized levels of plasma glucose, insulin, lipid peroxidation products, enzymatic and nonenzymatic markers in diabetic rats. The results demonstrate that AA possesses potent antioxidant effect comparable with glibenclamide in improving antihyperglycemia and attenuating antioxidant status in diabetic rats. 相似文献
