In order to meet the growing demand for mobile multimedia broadcast services 3GPP includes evolved multimedia broadcast and multicast (eMBMS) services in LTE systems. The high data rates, low latency and QoS provisioning makes LTE systems more suitable for mobile broadcast and multicast services than legacy wireless networks. However, the 3GPP standards has not specified any scheduling strategy for this broadcast and multicast services. In this paper, we propose a novel eMBMS scheduling technique (NEST) which focuses on reducing the average waiting time (latency) of the broadcast services offered by LTE system. This paper has twofold contributions. We proffer NEST considering two types of impatience that is user equipment (UE) departure and UE request repetition. Our proposed scheduling strategy estimates the effects originating from the departure of the mobile UEs and UE request repetition case. It intelligently combines the advantages of both flat scheduling and on-demand scheduling in such a way that the overall latency of the system is reduced. We design a suitable modeling framework to analyze the performance of the system. Simulation experiments on typical LTE systems support the performance analysis and demonstrates 10 % gains while comparing with existing eMBMS scheduling available in present LTE systems.  相似文献

Compost samples from two composting facilities, the Urbana (Illinois) Landscape Recycling Center (ULRC) and Illinois State University (ISU), were selected to examine the effect of compost age on atrazine removal from solution. The ULRC samples were made from yard waste without an additional nitrogen source. The ISU samples were made from yard waste or sawdust with the addition of manure. The 6-month-old ULRC compost had the greater capacity to remove atrazine from solution, which we attributed to its greater organic carbon content. The addition of nitrate into ULRC compost could influence the extent of atrazine removal, but did not have a significant impact on atrazine removal when applied to ISU compost, probably because manure was added to the yard waste to produce the compost. For both ULRC and ISU samples, the presence of sodium azide inhibited atrazine removal, suggesting that microbial activity contributed to the atrazine removal. Metabolic analysis demonstrated that hydroxyatrazine was the major identified metabolite that accumulated in solution before significant ring mineralization could occur. When compared with the ISU compost, the ULRC compost sample had a greater capacity to remove atrazine from solution during the 120 days of study because of the larger humic acid content. The experimental results suggested that less-mature compost may be better suited for environmental applications such as removing atrazine from tile-drainage waters.  相似文献

Current planning methods for transrectal high-intensity focused ultrasound treatment of prostate cancer rely on manually defining treatment regions in 15-20 sector transrectal ultrasound (TRUS) images of the prostate. Although effective, it is desirable to reduce user interaction time by identifying functionally related anatomic structures (segmenting), then automatically laying out treatment sites using these structures as a guide. Accordingly, a method has been developed to effectively generate solid three-dimensional (3-D) models of the prostate, urethra, and rectal wall from boundary trace data. Modeling the urethra and rectal wall are straightforward, but modeling the prostate is more difficult and has received much attention in the literature. New results presented here are aimed at overcoming many of the limitations of previous approaches to modeling the prostate while using boundary traces obtained via manual tracing in as few as 5 sector and 3 linear images. The results presented here are based on a new type of surface, the Fourier ellipsoid, and the use of sector and linear TRUS images. Tissue-specific 3-D models will ultimately permit finer control of energy deposition and more selective destruction of cancerous regions while sparing critical neighboring structures.  相似文献

The phenomena of natural convection in a right-angled triangular enclosure is studied numerically. A penalty finite element analysis with bi-quadratic elements is used for solving the Navier-Stokes and energy balance equations. The detailed study is carried out in two cases depending on various thermal boundary conditions:
(a)
Vertical wall is uniformly or linearly heated while inclined wall is cold isothermal.
(b)
Inclined wall is uniformly or linearly heated while vertical wall is cold isothermal.
In all the cases horizontal bottom wall is adiabatic and the aspect ratio of the lengths of base and height is considered to be one. The present numerical procedure adopted in this investigation yields consistent performance over a wide range of parameters of Rayleigh number Ra(103?Ra?105) and Prandtl number Pr(0.07?Pr?1000) in all the cases mentioned above. Numerical results are presented in terms of stream functions, temperature profiles and Nusselt numbers. It has been found that at low Rayleigh numbers (Ra?104), the isotherms are almost parallel near the bottom portion of the triangular enclosure while at Ra=105, the isotherms are more distorted. This is because the heat transfer is primarily due to conduction for lower values of Rayleigh number. As Rayleigh number increases, there is a change from conduction dominant region to convection dominant region, and the critical Rayleigh number corresponding to on-set of convection is obtained. It has been shown that the average Nusselt number for vertical wall is times that of the inclined wall as the bottom wall is adiabatic and that verifies the thermal equilibrium of the system for all case studies.  相似文献

The rheological properties of a phenol–formaldehyde resin containing various ratios of softwood pyrolytic oil as phenol substitute were investigated using the simple Bingham rheological model for viscoplastic fluids. Flow activation energy was determined for the various resin blends and the pyrolytic oil between room temperature and 50°C and correlations relating the flow activation energy to the weight fraction of pyrolytic oil in the resin are proposed. Apparent crosslinking activation energy with and without copper chloride used as an activator was also evaluated based on two gel time measurements between 75 and 105°C. A significant decrease in activation energy was observed for the phenol–formaldehyde resin cured with copper chloride, while the effect was less important for resins containing pyrolytic oil even when gel times were much shorter for PF‐resins. © 2007 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. A silver-dielectric-silver structure that supports both waveguide modes and surface plasmon polaritons is explored. The upper interface between the dielectric and the silver is periodically corrugated to allow coupling of visible photons to both types of mode. Such a metallic microcavity leads to plasmonic and waveguide self-interacting bandgaps at Brillouin zone boundaries. In addition there are found other bandgaps from mode crossings within the Brillouin zone. This results specifically in a very flat photonic band due to anticrossings between a surface plasmon polariton and waveguide modes. Characterization of the observed modes in terms of their resonant electromagnetic fields is achieved by using a multilayer, multishape differential grating theory.  相似文献

In this paper, we report, for the first time, the effect of the lowered freezing point in a 50% water/50% anti-freeze coolant (PAC) or 50% water/50% ethylene glycol (EG) solution by the addition of carbon nanotubes and other particles. The experimental results indicated that the nano materials are much more efficient (hundreds fold) in lowering the freezing point than the regular ionic materials (e.g., NaCl). The possible explanation for this interesting phenomenon is the colligative property of fluid and relative small size of nano material. It is quite certain that the carbon nanotubes and metal oxide nano particles could be a wonderful candidate for the nano coolant application because they could not only increase the thermal conductivity, but also efficiently lower the freezing point of traditional coolants.  相似文献

We have developed a biochip platform technology suitable for controlled cell-free gene expression at the micrometer scale. A new hybrid molecule, "Daisy", was designed and synthesized to form in a single step a biocompatible lithographic interface on silicon dioxide. A protocol is described for the immobilization of linear DNA molecules thousands of base pairs long on Daisy-coated surfaces with submicrometer spatial resolution and up to high densities. On-chip protein synthesis can be obtained with a dynamic range of up to four orders of magnitude and minimal nonspecific activity. En route to on-chip artificial gene circuits, a simple two-stage gene cascade was built, in which the protein synthesized at the first location diffuses to regulate the synthesis of another protein at a second location. We demonstrate the capture of proteins from crude extract onto micrometer-scale designated traps, an important step for the formation of miniaturized self-assembled protein chips. Our biochip platform can be combined with elastomeric microfluidic devices, thereby opening possibilities for isolated and confined reaction chambers and artificial cells in which the transport of products and reagents is done by diffusion and flow. The Daisy molecule and described approach enables groups not proficient in surface chemistry to construct active biochips based on cell-free gene expression.  相似文献
