An unceasing growth of gas consumption in domestic households, industry, and power plants has gradually turned natural gas into a major source of energy. Main drivers in this development are the technical and economic advantages of natural gas. It is a clean, versatile, and easily controllable fuel. On this basis, natural gas is often considered the form of energy that will be the “bridging fuel” to a sustainable energy system, sometime after 2050. Unlike other main sources of energy, such as oil and coal, gas is not traded on an actual world market. This paper provides an overview on demand and supplies of natural gas (LNG) in the past as a function of gas prices, gas technology (gas sweetening, liquefaction, shipping and re-gasification), and gas market and how they have changed recently. It also discusses the likely developments in global LNG demand for the period to the year 2030.  相似文献

Analysis of natural convection in porous triangles have many important energy related applications in geophysical and solar energy fields. A numerical study on heat distribution and thermal mixing during steady laminar natural convective flow inside a right-angled triangular enclosure filled with porous media subjected to various wall boundary conditions is investigated in this study using Bejan’s heatlines approach. Influence of various thermal boundary conditions and inclination angles (φ) on evaluation of complex heat flow patterns are studied as a function of Darcy numbers (Da) for various regimes of Prandtl (Pr) and Rayleigh (Ra) numbers. Studies illustrate that maximum heat transfer occurs at the top vertex for lower top angle (φ=°15) at higher Da(Da=10−3). As φ increases to °45, the maximum heat flux at the top vertex decreases and thermal mixing increases irrespective of Da and Pr. The enhanced convection at higher Da significantly affects the heat flow distribution, which is clearly depicted by high local Nusselt numbers at Da=10−3. It is also found that isothermal heating of walls enhances the heat distribution and thermal mixing. Overall, it is shown that heatlines provide suitable guideline on thermal management in porous right-angled triangular enclosures with various heating strategies.  相似文献

The present numerical study reports the combined effect of natural convection and radiation heat from a vertical cylinder with annular fins. The study involves simulation for laminar as well as turbulent regimes. For the present study, Rayleigh's number is varied in the range 10 8 10 12 , emissivity in the range 0.2 0.8 , and the fin spacing ratio (s/d) in the range 0.1 10 . The radiation heat transfer has been found to share a considerable amount in the total heat transfer of the system for the laminar regime, but in the turbulent regime, its effect is minimal and can be neglected. When the fin spacing ratio is reduced, the total heat transfer increases for both the turbulent and laminar flow conditions. But the radiation heat increases with a reduction in fin spacing ratio for laminar and in case of turbulent flow radiation heat rate reduces with a reduction in s/d ratio. For the range of Rayleigh numbers considered in the present study, the Nusselt number increases with the increment of the fin spacing ratio. Thus, it can be concluded that there is a remarkable enhancement in the heat transfer rate in laminar cases with the fins. For turbulent cases, the fin efficiency lies between 40% and 50%.  相似文献

We examine the extent to which statistical mobility information can increase the reliability of the service experienced by users in mobile networks. Interrupted or dropped calls are an aspect of reliability that stems from the mobility of users. An existing user can move to a cell where there are no resources available to support their call. A natural solution is the reservation of resources in multiple cells that the user is likely to move to. This scheme is called selective reservations and it relies on predicting the next move of the user. Recently, there has been some work on estimating the movement probabilities (also known as the mobility profile) of the user. In this paper, we quantify the usefulness of the mobility profile to improve the reliability of the service perceived by the mobile users. We identify two parameters which characterize the profile: Accuracy and Focus. Accuracy expresses the probability that the host will move as we expect it to. Focus describes how well we can identify patterns in the movement of the users. In our simulations, we examine the effect of the quality of the predictions on the performance of the system. We show that Accuracy and Focus have great impact on the performance of selective reservations. We also show how flexibility in hand‐offs can help in decreasing the dropping probability, and how this can be facilitated by letting the users make a second try at moving in case it fails the first time.
