The oxidation behavior of Hastelloy-XR alloy was investigated to obtain the optimum surface condition for corrosion-resistant glass-coatings. The surface morphology of oxide scales changed significantly with variation of temperatureand oxygen partial pressure (po2 ). The oxidation kinetics was mainly parabolic independent of oxidation conditions.The oxide scales were consisted of inner Cr2O3 and outer spinel layers. The phase component of spinel layers wereMn1.5Cr1.5O4 and (Mn,Ni)(Cr,Fe)2O4 for the oxygen partial pressures po2<10 kPa and po2>10 kPa, respectively.The optimum oxidation condition to obtain an oxide scale for well-adhered glass-coating to the substrate was 1248 Kand po2 =0.01 kPa for the oxidation time of 43 ks.  相似文献

Many cables containing 1.3-/spl mu/m zero-dispersion single-mode (SM) optical fibers are installed in trunk and access networks. Recently, there have been a number of studies on wavelength-division-multiplexing (WDM) systems designed to increase transmission capacity and flexibility. If we can construct WDM systems using SM optical-fiber cable networks designed to transmit using wavelengths in the 1.3-/spl mu/m window (O-band), this will prove very effective in reducing construction costs. It is therefore important to examine the wavelength dependence of the transmission characteristics of SM optical-fiber cables and networks that have already been installed and in which several optical fibers are joined. In this paper, we describe the measured optical characteristics of SM optical-fiber cables and installed optical-fiber cable networks at various wavelengths. The optical characteristics were stable in the 1.46 to 1.625-/spl mu/m wavelength range and we confirmed that the installed SM optical-fiber cable networks could be used for WDM system applications.  相似文献

Electronic structure and ferromagnetism in III–V compound-based diluted magnetic semiconductors (DMS) are investigated based on first-principles calculations by using the Korringa-Kohn-Rostoker method combined with the coherent-potential-approximation. The stability of the ferromagnetic phase in GaN-, GaAs-, GaP-, GaSb-based DMS is investigated systematically. The calculations show that 3d-impurities from the first-half of the transition metal series favor the ferromagnetic state, while impurities from the latter-half of the series exhibit spin-glass behavior. This chemical trend in the magnetism is explained by the double exchange mechanism taking the local symmetry at the impurity gap states into account. Curie temperatures of GaAs- and GaN-based DMS are estimated by using the Heisenberg model in a mean field approximation with the parameters calculated from first-principles. It is suggested that room-temperature ferromagnetism can be realized in these systems.  相似文献

The fracture toughness testing of short fibre reinforced thermoplastic materials were performed. Materials tested were the polyimide resin and also that reinforced with 20 wt% or 30 wt% short carbon fibre. For introducing the initial crack, the tapping method, the sliding method and the bridge indentation method were examined. Among them, the sliding method was found to be effective for every case. The fracture tests were conducted by the three-point bending test with several loading rates. Stable crack growth was observed for the neat material while unstable fracture occurred for the reinforced materials. The critical values of the stress intensity factor at crack initiation were greater for the reinforced materials than for the neat resin. The fracture toughness of the 30 wt% reinforced material was independent of loading rate while that of 20 wt% reinforced material increased with loading rate. In order to investigate the fracture mechanisms, fractographic observations were also performed.  相似文献

Ambiguous abdominal situs, asplenia/polysplenia and severe cardiac malformations characterize heterotaxy in humans. These anomalies result from the inability of the developing embryo to establish normal left-right asymmetry. We have studied an interesting family in which the heterotaxy phenotype segregates as an X-linked recessive trait. In order to map the heterotaxy locus (HTX), we have analysed 39 family members using highly-polymorphic microsatellite markers from the X chromosome. One of these markers, DXS994, shows no recombination with the disease locus in 20 informative meioses. Linkage analysis results in a maximum lod score of 6.37. Current genetic and physical mapping data assign the order of loci in Xq24-q27.1 as cen-DXS1001-(DXS994, HTX)-DXS984-tel. These results establish the first mapping assignment of situs abnormalities in humans.  相似文献

Metallothionein (MT) synthesis induced by the inflammatory cytokines, interleukin-6 (IL-6) and tumor necrosis factor-alpha (TNF), was studied in vivo. Administration of recombinant human IL-6 or TNF to rats caused the acute phase responses including rapid decreases in plasma zinc (Zn), and increases in plasma copper (Cu) and ceruloplasmin. Hepatic concentration of MT-I, one of MT isoforms, began to increase within 3 h after the injection of IL-6 or TNF. In IL-6-treated rats, MT-I concentration in liver reached a maximum level at 12 h and decreased with a transient rebound, whereas, in TNF-treated rats, a high level of MT-I lasted for about 48 h. MT-II, the other MT isoform, was induced more than MT-I in liver by both cytokines. MT-I was also induced in lung and heart by TNF, but little by IL-6. The data suggest that IL-6 may be responsible for MT synthesis in liver, whereas TNF may be responsible not only in liver but also in lung and heart. Furthermore plasma concentration of MT did not always reflect the enhanced concentration of MT by TNF and IL-6 in liver, suggesting involvement of many factors influencing plasma MT levels. The interrelation between IL-6 and TNF for MT synthesis has also been discussed.  相似文献

The crystallization process of hexagonal boron nitride in the presence of copper has been investigated. The positive effect of copper on the crystallinity of boron nitride was observed in the three studied systems of: nitrided boron, nitrided boron–carbon, and previously prepared turbostratic boron nitride. However, the presence of copper hindered the formation of boron carbonitride and produced graphite and boron nitride phases separately. Poor crystallinity was found as a conditio sine qua non for the existence of such a compound. Well-crystallized boron nitride had a very low spacing parameter 0.3328 nm and a regular hexagonal shape.  相似文献
