Abstract— Understanding the display characteristics of OLEDs is not only of general interest but also of technological importance for expanding the application of OLEDs. The display characteristics of AMOLEDs were quantitatively evaluated and compared with LCD or CRT performance. The fast response time and high contrast ratio, which are attractive characteristics of OLEDs, were also retained under low temperature and bright ambient, respectively. Moreover the luminance and color barely changed with viewing angle at any gray‐scale level. The optical design of OLED diodes is important for the emission characteristics, luminance, and color reproducibility.  相似文献

The central post is one of the critical components for the low aspect ratio tokamak, which endures not only a tremendous ohmic heating because it carries a rather high current, but also a large neutron heating and irradiation owing to the plasma operation. The DS copper alloy Glidcop AL-25[8] was chosen as the conductor material for its adequate mechanical properties and physics properties. The central post has a cylindrical structure with lots of cooling channels. The length of the central post for the next generation of nuclear fusion spherical tokamaks will be more than 10 m or 20 m. The structural stability is very crucial. When the applied load is larger than the structure critical buckling load, the device will lose its stability and collapse. In order to calculate the critical buckling load, a 1/6-segment finite element model was used and the force acting on the central post was simulated. The results showed that the vertical compressive stresses mainly affect the stability of the central post. The linear buckling analysis results with finite element method based on small deformation theory were given in this paper. The relation curves and functions for buckling factor, depending on the different lengths and the radius of the central post, the diameter of cooling channel and the maximum allowable current density, were also shown.  相似文献

A multilingual disaster information system (MLDI) has been developed to overcome the language barrier during times of natural disaster. MLDI is a web-based system that includes templates in nine languages so that translated texts can be made available immediately. Mobile phone e-mail with graphic text is a useful tool for delivering multilingual disaster information. The visibility of graphic text on mobile phones was measured and found to be equivalent to the built-in font. However, visibility deteriorates as the character size becomes smaller, especially, on displays with poor resolution. This article also discusses the necessity of multilingual information and measures for a safe and barrier-free society.  相似文献

Abstract— Thin‐film transistors (TFTs) are field‐effect transistors that can be used to create large‐scale‐integrated (LSI) circuits. The combination of high‐performance TFTs and transfer technology of the TFTs has the potential to foster the rise of a new flexible microelectronics industry. This paper discusses the current status of flexible microelectronics, using a TFT fingerprint sensor (FPS) as an example. Technology used in active‐matrix displays can easily be applied to the TFT FPS. TFT technology should not be confined to the display industry; its use should be expanded into the semiconductor industry. With the result presented in this paper, we declare a new era of flexible microelectronics open.  相似文献

Generalized Partial Computation (GPC) is a program transformation method utilizing partial information about input data, abstract data types of auxiliary functions and the logical structure of a source program. GPC uses both an inference engine such as a theorem prover and a classical partial evaluator to optimize programs. Therefore, GPC is more powerful than classical partial evaluators but harder to implement and control. We have implemented an experimental GPC system called WSDFU (Waseda Simplify-Distribute-Fold-Unfold). This paper demonstrates the power of the program transformation system as well as its theorem prover and discusses some future works. Yoshihiko Futamura, Ph.D.: He is Professor of Department of Information and Computer Science and the director of the Institute for Software Production Technology (ISPT) of Waseda University. He received his BS in mathematics from Hokkaido University in 1965, MS in applied mathematics from Harvard University in 1972 and Ph.D. degree from Hokkaido University in 1985. He joined Hitachi Central Research Laboratory in 1965 and moved to Waseda University in 1991. He was a visiting professor of Uppsala University from 1985 to 1986 and a visiting scholar of Harvard University from 1988 to 1989. Automatic generation of computer programs and programming methodology are his main research fields. He is the inventor of the Futamura Projections in partial evaluation and ISO8631 PAD (Problem Analysis Diagram). Zenjiro Konishi: He is a visiting lecturer of Institute for Software Production Technology, Waseda University. He received his M. Sc. degree in mathematics from Waseda University in 1995. His research interests include automated theorem proving. He received JSSST Takahashi Award in 2001. He is a member of JSSST and IPSJ. Robert Glück, Ph.D., Habil.: He is an Associate Professor of Computer Science at the University of Copenhagen. He received his Ph.D. and Habilitation (venia docendi) from the Vienna University of Technology in 1991 and 1997. He was research assistant at the City University of New York and received twice the Erwin-Schrodinger-Fellowship of the Austrian Science Foundation (FWF). After being an Invited Fellow of the Japan Society for the Promotion of Science (JSPS), he is now funded by the PRESTO21 program for basic research of the Japan Science and Technology Corporation (JST) and located at Waseda University in Tokyo. His main research interests are advanced programming languages, theory and practice of program transformation, and metaprogramming.  相似文献

A conventional method to synthesize diffractive optical elements and computer-generated holograms (CGH's) with high diffraction efficiency relies on an increase of phase levels. To fabricate such a device, one should perform electron-beam (e-beam) lithography with multiple-dose exposures or multiple-step photolithography. Here we describe a one-step method, which is based on the effective medium theory, for the fabrication of a multilevel phase CGH. The phase modulations required in cells of a CGH are constructed by means of dividing these cells into fine (subwavelength) structures. The surface features of these fine structures control their corresponding indices, and their values can be calculated according to the effective medium theory. By proper selection of the fine structures, based on the requirements of the phase modulation of the cells, a CGH with multilevel phases is synthesized when a binary structure is relieved on the dielectric material. Then the CGH can be fabricated by direct e-beam lithography or one-step photolithography through an amplitude mask followed by an ion-etching treatment. The experimental results showed that the reconstructed wave field is in good agreement with that simulated by a computer, indicating the effectiveness of the proposed method.  相似文献

The signal-to-noise ratio achievable with the slotted-tube resonator (STR), a fundamental type of high radiofrequency coil for nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) experiments, was formulated in an equation. This equation is based on formulae presented by Hoult and Richards [J Magn Reson 24, 71 (1976)] and Hoult and Lauterbur [J Magn Reson 34, 425 (1979)]. The equation assumes that the sample is positioned within the homogeneous region of magnetic fluxB 1 generated by the STR, and involves no unknown factors. The NMR sensitivity of an experiment with an STR can therefore be predicted, and the equation is applicable to any nuclear species, static field strength, and dimensions of the sample and STR.  相似文献

We have developed a hydrogen sensor for in situ measurements of hydrogen activities in molten copper. The sensor consists of a concentration cell utilizing a proton conductor, CaZr0.9In0.1O3-δ, as the solid electrolyte. The electromotive force (emf) of the cell was generated by both hydrogen and oxygen activity gradients across the cell in a high-temperature region simulating the fire refining processes of copper. However, accurate hydrogen activity in molten copper could be evaluated from the emf if oxygen activity in molten copper was determined simultaneously by another concentration cell and if the hydrogen and the oxygen activities at the reference electrode were known. The performance of the sensor was studied under various conditions. The observed good response and reliability of the sensor show that it should be a powerful tool for improvement of the fire refining process of the molten copper. Theoretical treatment of the calculation of the emf of the concentration cells using a mixed ionic conductor, i.e., protonic and oxide ionic conductor, as solid electrolytes is also discussed briefly.  相似文献

A wide variety of biological activities including the major metabolic actions of insulin is regulated by phosphatidylinositol (PI) 3-kinase. However, the downstream effectors of the various signaling pathways that emanate from PI 3-kinase remain unclear. Akt (protein kinase B), a serine-threonine kinase with a pleckstrin homology domain, is thought to be one such downstream effector. A mutant Akt (Akt-AA) in which the phosphorylation sites (Thr308 and Ser473) targeted by growth factors are replaced by alanine has now been shown to lack protein kinase activity and, when overexpressed in CHO cells or 3T3-L1 adipocytes with the use of an adenovirus vector, to inhibit insulin-induced activation of endogenous Akt. Akt-AA thus acts in a dominant negative manner in intact cells. Insulin-stimulated protein synthesis, which is sensitive to wortmannin, a pharmacological inhibitor of PI 3-kinase, was abolished by overexpression of Akt-AA without an effect on amino acid transport into the cells, suggesting that Akt is required for insulin-stimulated protein synthesis. Insulin activation of p70 S6 kinase was inhibited by approximately 75% in CHO cells and approximately 30% in 3T3-L1 adipocytes, whereas insulin-induced activation of endogenous Akt was inhibited by 80 to 95%, by expression of Akt-AA. Thus, Akt activity appears to be required, at least in part, for insulin stimulation of p70 S6 kinase. However, insulin-stimulated glucose uptake in both CHO cells and 3T3-L1 adipocytes was not affected by overexpression of Akt-AA, suggesting that Akt is not required for this effect of insulin. These data indicate that Akt acts as a downstream effector in some, but not all, of the signaling pathways downstream of PI 3-kinase.  相似文献
