A novel technique for the trace analysis of metal ions Zn(II), Be(II), and Bi(III) in bulk solutions is discussed. This technique involves the generation of a chemiluminescence signal from alkaline phosphatase catalyzed hydrolysis of a phosphate derivative of 1,2-dioxetane. Zn(II) can be determined by two methods, reactivation of the alkaline phosphatase apoenzyme and inhibition of the native enzyme. Be(II) and Bi(III) can be determined quantitatively by inhibition of the native enzyme. Subppb to ppm level detection of Zn(II), Be(II), and Bi(III) has been achieved. Initial studies with mixed metals are also reported. The technique described is rapid and sensitive and can be readily applied to the microassay of heavy metal ions. 相似文献

Grid computing has emerged a new field, distinguished from conventional distributed computing. It focuses on large-scale resource sharing, innovative applications and in some cases, high performance orientation. The Grid serves as a comprehensive and complete system for organizations by which the maximum utilization of resources is achieved. The load balancing is a process which involves the resource management and an effective load distribution among the resources. Therefore, it is considered to be very important in Grid systems. For a Grid, a dynamic, distributed load balancing scheme provides deadline control for tasks. Due to the condition of deadline failure, developing, deploying, and executing long running applications over the grid remains a challenge. So, deadline failure recovery is an essential factor for Grid computing. In this paper, we propose a dynamic distributed load-balancing technique called “Enhanced GridSim with Load balancing based on Deadline Failure Recovery” (EGDFR) for computational Grids with heterogeneous resources. The proposed algorithm EGDFR is an improved version of the existing EGDC in which we perform load balancing by providing a scheduling system which includes the mechanism of recovery from deadline failure of the Gridlets. Extensive simulation experiments are conducted to quantify the performance of the proposed load-balancing strategy on the GridSim platform. Experiments have shown that the proposed system can considerably improve Grid performance in terms of total execution time, percentage gain in execution time, average response time, resubmitted time and throughput. The proposed load-balancing technique gives 7 % better performance than EGDC in case of constant number of resources, whereas in case of constant number of Gridlets, it gives 11 % better performance than EGDC. 相似文献

We study the biaxial stress state conditions in landing gear fuse pins in the fuse groove. This biaxial state comprises a
combination of shear stresses which are usually the largest stresses in the fuse pin by design, and compressive stresses which
keep the half-section of the fuse pin in equilibrium. Conventional fatigue analysis techniques use an equivalent uniaxial
stress, based on the Mises stress of a pure-shear condition. The respective predicted fatigue damages are much higher than
those obtained from fuse pin cyclic tests. A new equivalent uniaxial fatigue stress model is proposed that includes the additional
compressive stress as a relief on the fatigue damage in the fuse groove, thereby explaining the observations from fuse pin
tests. The model is used in conventional uniaxial strain-life fatigue software (Goodrich Aerospace’s Fatigue Life V2) to predict
the fatigue damage on a landing gear fuse pin with a sample load spectrum. The results are then compared to the pure shear
model, and to a biaxial finite element fatigue analysis. As compared to the equivalent Mises model, the proposed model provides
less conservative estimation of the fuse pin fatigue life, the latter value being higher than that provided by the two-dimensional
finite element calculation.

The effect of thiourea on the cathodic current efficiency (CE), deposit quality, crystallographic orientations, surface morphology,
and polarization behavior of the cathode was investigated during nickel electrodeposition from acidic sulfate solutions for
2 hours at 60 °C. A slight decrease of 3 to 4 pct in the CE was observed, when the concentration of thiourea was increased
from 2 to 40 mg dm−3. The nickel deposit quality deteriorated significantly at higher thiourea concentrations; the surface morphology deteriorated
and the contamination of the nickel deposits increased. The presence of thiourea affected the peak intensities of the crystal
planes. Cyclic voltammetric studies on nickel deposition at 25 °C revealed depolarization behavior of the cathode at lower
thiourea concentrations, ≤10 mg dm−3; however, a mixed behavior is observed at higher thiourea concentrations. These changes were also observed in the exchange

Furosemide-loaded calcium alginate (ALG), calcium alginate-polyethyleneimine (ALG-PEI) and alginate-coated ALG-PEI (ALG-PEI-ALG) beads were prepared by ionotropic/polyelectrolyte complexation method to achieve controlled release of the drug. Effects of several formulation factors on the characteristics of the beads were investigated. Although variation in formulation factors did not influence the drug-loading efficiency (DLE) of ALG beads, rapid release of the drug in simulated intestinal fluid (SIF) could not be prevented. PEI treatment of ALG beads, however, prolonged the drug release considerably. Ionic interaction, as appeared from FTIR studies, between alginate and PEI led to the formation of polyelectrolyte complex membrane, the thickness of which was dependent on the conditions of PEI treatment as demonstrated by scanning electron microscopy (SEM). The membrane acted as a physical barrier to drug release from ALG-PEI beads. Alginate coating of ALG-PEI beads further prolonged the release of the drug by increasing membrane thickness and reducing swelling of the beads possibly by blocking the surface pores. Differential scanning calorimetry (DSC) study indicated that drug was not degraded by PEI treatment. The release data from ALG-PEI beads showed a good fit in power law expression, whereas the release data from ALG-PEI-ALG beads were found to fit in modified power law expression, and the mechanism of drug release changed from super case II transport to nearly Fickian transport, depending on the degree of gelation and formation of polyelectrolyte complex membrane. 相似文献

LiCo1−xMxPO4 (M = Mg2+, Mn2+ and Ni2+; 0 ≤ x ≤ 0.2) compounds have been synthesized by solid-state reaction method and studied as cathode materials for secondary lithium batteries. LiCoPO4 exhibits a discharge plateau at ∼4.7 V with an initial discharge capacity of 125 mAh/g and on cycling capacity falls. Substitution of Co2+ with Mg2+/Mn2+/Ni2+ in LiCoPO4 has an influence on the initial discharge capacity and on cycling behaviour. The capacity retention of LiCoPO4 is improved by manganese substitution. Among the manganese substituted phases, LiCo0.95Mn0.05PO4 shows good reversible capacity of ∼50 mAh/g. 相似文献

The problem of creeping flow past a swarm of porous circular cylinders with Happel and Kuwabara boundary conditions is investigated.
The Brinkman equation for the flow inside the porous cylinder and the Stokes equation outside the porous cylinder in their
stream function formulations are used. The force experienced by each porous circular cylinder in a cell is evaluated. Explicit
expressions of stream functions are obtained for both the inside and outside flow fields. The earlier results reported by

Regression testing is an expensive testing process used to validate modified software and detect whether new faults have been introduced into previously tested code. To reduce the cost of regression testing, software testers may prioritize their test cases so that those which are more important, by some measure, are run earlier in the regression testing process. One goal of prioritization is to increase a test suite's rate of fault detection. Previous empirical studies have shown that several prioritization techniques can significantly improve rate of fault detection, but these studies have also shown that the effectiveness of these techniques varies considerably across various attributes of the program, test suites, and modifications being considered. This variation makes it difficult for a practitioner to choose an appropriate prioritization technique for a given testing scenario. To address this problem, we analyze the fault detection rates that result from applying several different prioritization techniques to several programs and modified versions. The results of our analyses provide insights into which types of prioritization techniques are and are not appropriate under specific testing scenarios, and the conditions under which they are or are not appropriate. Our analysis approach can also be used by other researchers or practitioners to determine the prioritization techniques appropriate to other workloads. 相似文献

Fault-tolerant real-time computer (FT-RTC) systems are widely used to perform safe operation of nuclear power plants (NPP) and safe shutdown in the event of any untoward situation. Design requirements for such systems need high reliability, availability, computational ability for measurement via sensors, control action via actuators, data communication and human interface via keyboard or display. All these attributes of FT-RTC systems are required to be implemented using best known methods such as redundant system design using diversified bus architecture to avoid common cause failure, fail-safe design to avoid unsafe failure and diagnostic features to validate system operation. In this context, the system designer must select efficient as well as highly reliable diversified bus architecture in order to realize fault-tolerant system design.
