The hemostatic system and thrombohemorrhagic complications during the hemosorption treatment of patients with chronic glomerulonephritis with nephrotic syndrome

Effects were studied of hemosorption on the system of homeostasis in patients with chronic glomerulonephritis presenting with nephrotic syndrome. An optimum graphic express method of control of the homeostasis system state was found, permitting predicting thrombohemorrhagic complications after single-session hemosorption (significance 99.9%). Strategies were identified for correction of changes in coagulogrammes in such patients along with devising measures to prevent the above complications.     

Validity of Verbal IQ as a short form of the Wechsler Adult Intelligence Scale.

The validity of Verbal IQ as a short form of the WAIS was investigated using the criteria proposed by R. J. Resnick and A. O. Entin (see record 1971-09973-001). The WAIS was administered to 100 psychiatric patients of whom 39 were psychotics, 54 non-psychotic, 6 brain-damaged, and 1 unclassified. A Pearson product-moment correlation of .97 ( p     

Validity of the Verbal Scale IQ as a WAIS short form: A reply to Reynolds.

W. M. Reynolds (see record 1979-25128-001) criticized the present authors because of their use of improper statistics in supporting the validity of the WAIS Verbal IQ as a short form of the Full Scale IQ. The authors agree with Reynolds that they erred in the choice of one statistical test. However, it is maintained that from a practical standpoint, the use of the Verbal IQ as a short form had considerable value as a screening device and should not be discarded because of this one criticism.
