Modification of polyamide fibers by forming an interpenetrating polymeric system in the surface layer

Conclusions The proposed method of modifying a polyamide yarn is based on the formation of an interpenetrating polymeric network in its surface layer.The optimum IPN content of a yarn for the system examined is 2–6 or 21–23% by wt.The presence of an IPN in the surface layer of a fiber ensures an increase in strength and heat-resistance, and in the adhesive strength of the bond with a polymeric matrix.Translated from Khimicheskie Volokna, No. 4, pp. 14–16, July–August, 1983.     

Experimental study of the transient heat transfer between metal balls and a stream of liquid at constant temperature

The article describes a method of determining the transient heat-transfer coefficient and a study of the transient heat transfer between metal balls and a stream of liquid. It is shown here how the heat flux and the heat-transfer coefficient depend on a number of parameters. Lactoferrin in human lung tumors

Immunodiffusion technique was used to study the lactoferrin (LF) distribution in human fetal, normal and tumour tissue extracts. If was found that LF concentration in lung tumour extracts was higher than in normal lung one. Indirect immunoperoxidase method revealed LF in alveolar macrophages of normal and tumour lung tissues, in afflux of these cells around the tumour cells, but never--in the original lung cancer cells. It is suggested that LF is not a lung tumour-associated antigen.
