Recently, the IEEE TG4k has been formed to amend the IEEE 802.15 family to address the low energy critical infrastructure monitoring networks. The purpose is to facilitate point to multi‐thousands of point communication to collect the scheduled and event data from a large number of nonmains powered endpoints that are widely dispersed. It should support low energy operation, which is necessary for multiyear battery life. Other major features are application data rate up to 40 Kb/s, thousands of endpoints per mains powered infrastructure, asymmetric application data flow, small and infrequent messages, tolerant to data latency, etc. In this paper, we present a discussion on low energy critical infrastructure monitoring networks. We propose a medium access control protocol based on framed slotted aloha for these networks. We investigated probable packet sizes, energy consumptions, battery lifetime and the success rate for our protocol. The proposed protocol is simple to implement. Simulation results show that it is efficient in terms of packet success rate, energy consumption, and battery lifetime.Copyright © 2012 John Wiley & Sons, Ltd.  相似文献

Heterogeneous integration of III–V compound semiconductors to Si substrates is regarded as a necessary step for advancing high‐speed electronics and hybrid optoelectronic systems for data processing and communications, and is extensively being pursued by the semiconductor industry. Here, an innovative fab‐compatible, hybrid integration process of III–V materials to Si, namely InGaAs thin films to insulator‐on‐Si, is reported, and the first III–V FinFET devices on Si are demonstrated. Transfer of crystalline InGaAs layers with high quality to SiO2/Si is accomplished by the formation of a robust interfacial nickel‐silicide (NiSi) bonding interface, marking the first report for using silicides in III–V hybrid integration technology. The performance of optimally fabricated InGaAs FinFETs on insulator on Si is systematically investigated for a broad range of channel lengths and Fin perimeters with excellent switching characteristics. This demonstrates a viable approach to large‐scale hybrid integration of active III‐V devices to mainstream Si CMOS technology, enabling low‐power electronic and fully‐integrated optoelectronic applications.  相似文献

The object-oriented paradigm is widely applied in designing and implementing communication systems.Unified Modeling Language(UML) is a standard language used to model the design of object-oriented systems.A protocol state machine is a UML adopted diagram that is widely used in designing communication protocols.It has two key attractive advantages over traditional finite state machines:modeling concurrency and modeling nested hierarchical states.In a distributed communication system,each entity of the system has its own protocol that defines when and how the entity exchanges messages with other communicating entities in the system.The order of the exchanged messages must conform to the overall service specifications of the system.In object-oriented systems,both the service and the protocol specifications are modeled in UML protocol state machines.Protocol specification synthesis methods have to be applied to automatically derive the protocol specification from the service specification.Otherwise,a time-consuming process of design,analysis,and error detection and correction has to be applied iteratively until the design of the protocol becomes error-free and consistent with the service specification.Several synthesis methods are proposed in the literature for models other than UML protocol state machines,and therefore,because of the unique features of the protocol state machines,these methods are inapplicable to services modeled in UML protocol state machines.In this paper,we propose a synthesis method that automatically synthesizes the protocol specification of distributed protocol entities from the service specification,given that both types of specifications are modeled in UML protocol state machines.Our method is based on the latest UML version(UML2.3),and it is proven to synthesize protocol specifications that are syntactically and semantically correct.As an example application,the synthesis method is used to derive the protocol specification of the H.323 standard used in Internet calls.  相似文献

In this paper, an original model‐based analytical method is developed to design a fractional order controller combined with a Smith predictor and a modified Smith predictor that yield control systems which are robust to changes in the process parameters. This method can be applied for integer order systems and for fractional order ones. Based on the Bode's ideal transfer function, the fractional order controllers are designed via the internal model control principle. The simulation results demonstrate the successful performance of the proposed method for controlling integer as well as fractional order linear stable systems with long time delay.  相似文献

In the medical field, refrigeration systems are used to store and transport vaccines, blood, and other medical supplies that require specific temperature ranges to remain effective. As technology continues to advance, the demand for more efficient and sustainable refrigeration systems is also increasing. The freezer compartment is typically designed to maintain a temperature of −18°C to −23°C for storing frozen items. Consequently, this work aims to develop a hybrid refrigeration system that combines a thermoelectric cooler system (TEC) and a vapor compression refrigeration cycle (VCC) system to achieve lower temperatures than conventional refrigerators. Also, the performance of the proposed hybrid refrigeration system is experimentally assessed with various operating conditions, including varying the voltage delivered to the system. The experimental results exhibited that the temperature inside the freezer room reached −33°C, while the cold side temperature is −47°C. Also, the maximum coefficient of performance of the VCC system, TEC, and hybrid system is 2.07, 1.06, and 0.37, respectively, at a DC voltage applied of 6 V. Moreover, the results revealed that the hybrid system combining a TEC and a VCC system can be a valuable technology for specific applications with low temperatures and limited capacity requirements.  相似文献

Microgravity is a novel strategy that may serve as a complementary tool to develop future cancer therapies. In lung cancer, the influence of microgravity on cellular processes and the migratory capacity of cells is well addressed. However, its effect on the mechanisms that drive lung cancer progression remains in their infancy. In this study, 13 differentially expressed genes were shown to be associated with the prognosis of lung cancer under simulated microgravity (SMG). Using gene set enrichment analysis, these genes are enriched in humoral immunity pathways. In lieu, alveolar basal-epithelial (A549) cells were exposed to SMG via a 2D clinostat system in vitro. In addition to morphology change and decrease in proliferation rate, SMG reverted the epithelial-to-mesenchymal transition (EMT) phenotype of A549, a key mechanism in cancer progression. This was evidenced by increased epithelial E-cadherin expression and decreased mesenchymal N-cadherin expression, hence exhibiting a less metastatic state. Interestingly, we observed increased expression of FCGBP, BPIFB, F5, CST1, and CFB and their correlation to EMT under SMG, rendering them potential tumor suppressor biomarkers. Together, these findings reveal new opportunities to establish novel therapeutic strategies for lung cancer treatment.  相似文献

The electronic stopping power of a free electron gas on a moving charged particle (ion) in a solid is analyzed in the coordinate system moving with the charged particle. By quantum mechanically treating the momentum transfer between the charged particle and the electron gas, explicit analytic expressions for electronic stopping have been derived for ions of all energies in the nonrelativistic regime. The explicit result reduces to well-known results at both high and low ion energies.  相似文献
