Numerical simulation of beam unloading from elastic linkages in a plane-parallel medium flow

The process of profile unloading from elastic linkages in a plane-parallel flow of an incompressible medium is examined. The beam model of profile deformation is used. The parameters of the transient mode under different pause durations between linkage breaks are determined. The procedure permitting the solution of the connected problem of aeroelasticity by means of the vortex elements method used to determine the nonstationary aerodynamic loads is verified and the results of the verification are given.     

Experimental investigation of the effect of the signal-to-noise ratio on the characteristics of forced capillary disintegration of a jet

Dependences of the signal-to-noise ratio in a jet in the case of forced capillary disintegration of the jet (FCDJ) on the excitation signal, the mean jet velocity, the velocity distribution in the jet, and the jet diameter are derived. It is shown that, for equal excitation amplitudes, the signal-to-noise ratio in the case of FCDJ depends on the jet diameter and the velocity profile. A relationship between the relative scatter of diameters of the droplets formed as a result of FCDJ and the signal-to-noise ratio is derived.Translated from Inzhenerno-fizicheskii Zhurnal, Vol. 4, pp. 544–550, April, 1991.     

Algorithm for analysis of soil deformability

A method of constructing a stiffness matrix intended for analysis of rigid-viscous-ductile soils is presented. The method is based on the Mohr-Coulomb strength condition and the von Mises yield criterion. The algorithm considers the volume compression of soil and its viscous properties.

Temperature field of the quartz-graphite lining of steelcasting ladles
