Prediction of extrusion pressure, especially in the case of complex die geometries, is an area of continued research interest. Die complexity, usually defined by “shape factor” (the ratio of the perimeter to the cross-sectional area of the profile), critically affects the flow of metal and the pressure required to extrude a given product. Applied strain rate (related directly to the ram speed of the extrusion press) also alters the product quality significantly. The current paper presents results of an ongoing study about effects of ram speed and die profile on extrusion pressure. Experiments were conducted using dies of different complexity to track the effects of ram speed variation and changing die profiles on extrusion pressure. Al-6063, the most popular commercial variety of structural aluminum, was used as the billet material for all experiments.  相似文献

The Monterey Wastewater Reclamation Study for Agriculture (MWRSA) has Completed its first year of a five-year pilot effort to investigate and to demonstrate feasibility of food crop irrigation with reclaimed municipal effluent. The project comprises a 96-plot field trial for statistical comparison of three water treatments: an eight-hectare commercial scale farm for demonstration of water reclamation for growing lettuce, broccoli, cauliflower, celery, and artichokes; an aerosol study, a virus assay, market studies, and other ancillary investigations. First year results preliminarily indicate that the main hypothesis of the study will prove to be true, i.e. “raw-eaten food crops irrigated with properly treated municipal wastewater effluent are safe for human consumption”.  相似文献

A finite element analysis of the large deflection behaviour of stiffened plates using the isoparametric quadratic stiffened plate bending element is presented. The evaluation of fundamental equations of the stiffened plates is based on Mindlin's hypothesis. The large deflection equations are based on von Kármán's theory. The solution algmrithm for the assembled nonlinear equilibrium equations is based on the Newton-Raphson iteration technique. Numerical solutions are presented for rectangular plates and skew stiffened plates.  相似文献

The objective of this project is to propose a method of identifying cells found in human blood and to classify them based upon their morphological features using neural networks. The project focuses on three major blood cell types, namely, erythrocytes, leukocytes and platelets. The data are collected using peripheral blood smears from clinical patients. The image acquisition requires 100x magnification on all the blood smears, the preprocessing involves the use of median and edge enhance filters; the feature extraction is done by performing the wavelet transform on the images. Finally classification of the blood cell types is done using ALOPEX and Back Propagation trained neural networks. The efficacy of both networks is then compared by comparing their outputs and number of iterations required to reach the final result.  相似文献

A computer approach for simulating a feedback system and its adaptive versions is presented. It is conceived with recursion formulas to describe the interconnected elements of the system. The potential of the approach is explored by applying it to an existing practical system. It is then enhanced by a performance analysis leading to a provision of a unified system evaluation technique. The approach permitted experimentation with different combination of system parameters, system inputs and system configuration.
