Evaluating the mixing performance of a ribbon blender

This paper investigates the effects of processing and equipment parameters of a ribbon blender (i.e. loading method of lubricant, fill level, blade speed and blade design) on magnesium stearate homogeneity. A core sampling technique is used to obtain at least one hundred samples per sampling event, which are extracted throughout the blender and yield a thorough characterization of the entire bed. The results presented here can be used as a guideline to develop appropriate blending processes and characterization protocols for ribbon blenders.     

Growth of highly orientated strontium barium niobate thin films on Si substrates through the sol–gel process using a K: SBN template layer

We report the growth of highly C-axis orientation of Sr _x Ba_1−x Nb₂O₆ (SBN) thin films on p-type (100) Si substrates by using a potassium-substituted SBN template layer with the sol–gel method. The crystallization of SBN thin films was found closely related to the potassium ion doping concentration and the postannealing temperature of the K-SBN template layer. Secondary ion mass spectrometry analysis showed that potassium elements were accumulated at the interface of the template layer and silicon substrate. SBN films postannealed at 750 °C with K-SBN template layer has a smaller full width at half maximum of X-ray rocking curve of 2.45° than that of 5.40° for the pure SBN films. By introducing a template layer, the surface morphologies of SBN films fabricated on silicon substrate were greatly improved.     

Ring‐opening polymerization of D,L‐lactide by rare earth 2,6‐dimethylaryloxide

Ring‐opening polymerization of D,L ‐lactide (LA) has been successfully carried out by using rare earth 2,6‐dimethylaryloxide (Ln(ODMP)₃) as single component catalyst or initiator for the first time. The effects of different rare earth elements, solvents, monomers and catalyst concentration as well as polymerization temperature and time on the polymerization were investigated. The results show that La(ODMP)₃ exhibits higher activity to prepare poly(D,L ‐lactide) (PLA) with a viscosity molecular weight of 4.5 × 10⁴ g mol^?1 and the conversion of 97 % at 100 °C in 45 min. The catalytic activity of Ln(ODMP)₃ has following sequence: La > Nd > Sm > Gd > Er > Y. A kinetic study has indicated that the polymerization is first order with respect to both monomer and catalyst concentration. The apparent activation energy of the polymerization of LA with La(ODMP)₃ is 69.6 kJ mol^?1. The analyses of polymer ends indicate that the LA polymerization proceeds according to ‘coordination–insertion’ mechanism with selective cleavage of the acyl–oxygen bond of the monomer. Effects of Y and Ce on Microstructures and Properties of Nb-Si System Composites

The effects of yttrium and cerium on microstructures and properties of Nb-Si system composites were investigated by scanning electron microscopy( SEM), energy dispersive spectrum(EDS), X-ray diffraction(XRD) and high temperature oxidation experiments.It is found that the coarse primary silicide phase became finer and more homogeneous with Y and Ce addition.The results of high temperature oxidation experiments show that the oxidation rates of NbSi system composites with an appropriate amount of Y and Ce decrease compared with those of alloys without Y or Ce addition, and oxidation products mainly distribute along the phase boundaries between the Nb solid solution and silicide.     

Treatment of low turbidity water by sweep coagulation using bentonite

A novel strategy of sweep coagulation to treat low turbidity water is presented herein. Study findings demonstrated that an Na⁺‐saturated bentonite with medium cation exchange capacity (CEC) resulted in significant turbidity removal at a bentonite dosage of 30 mg dm^?3. Bentonite dispersion with fully delaminated platelets tended to undergo a more porous type of coagulation with intense face‐to‐face interactions of platelets and effectively entrapped TiO₂ particles in band‐type structures. This type of coagulation usually results in a large volume of settled flocs with a fluffy structure and excellent turbidity removal efficiency for sweep coagulation. The sign and magnitude of electrical charge on TiO₂ particles has a minor effect on the efficiency of sweep coagulation. Copyright © 2005 Society of Chemical Industry     

TiAl基合金表面改性对高温抗氧化性的影响

研究了渗碳处理ＴｉＡｌ基合金试样的高温氧化行为，发现渗碳处理可以在ＴｉＡｌ基合金试样表层形成致密的多层结构的渗碳层，并发生表层Ａｌ、Ｔｉ重新分配。致密的渗碳层具有良好的高温抗氧化性和高温热稳定性，同时，Ｔｉ、Ａｌ重新分配形成的富Ａｌ最外层也能进一步提高合金的抗氧化性。     

厚断面球铁的声速

论述了影响厚断面球铁声速和声波衰减的各种因素。指出，必须在应力状态下同时考核声速和声波衰减，以作为判别厚断面球铁材质的一种手段。     

助剂对Pd/树脂醚化催化剂催化性能的影响 Ⅰ.铝助剂的影响

研究了不同助剂对Ｐｄ／树脂醚化催化剂在临氢条件下对催化裂化汽油Ｃ５馏份与甲醇和Ｈ２反应的催化性能的影响。结果表明，在Ｐｄ／树脂醚化催化剂中引入Ｚｒ、Ｔｉ、Ｂ、Ｓｎ和Ａｌ等助剂后，都能改善催化剂的醚化、双键异构和二烯烃选择性加氢活性，其中以Ａｌ、Ｓｎ为最好。Ａｌ助剂的体积质量和负载方式对Ｐｄ－Ａｌ／树脂醚化催化剂的活性有影响。ＢＥＴ方法和Ｘ－射线荧光光谱分析（ＸＦＳＡ）表明，Ａｌ助剂对Ｐｄ－Ａｌ／树脂醚化催化剂的表面积、孔结构和Ｐｄ离子交换量影响较小。
