The measurement of magnetic field strength near the surface of a ferromagnetic object

A technique for measuring field strength near the surface of a ferromagnetic object using a polarized local tape magnetic carrier (LTMC) is described. The calibration characteristics of a demagnetized and polarized LTMC made of И4701-35 tape are given.

Synthesis and characterization of C60‐based composites of amphiphilic N‐vinylpyrrolidone/triethylene glycol dimethacrylate copolymers

It was found that under mixing of aqueous solutions of copolymers and toluene solutions of C₆₀ two types of polymer composites can be produced with different matrix structure, the fullerene content and an aggregation degree. The dimethacrylate enriched macromolecules migrate to toluene and the VP units enriched copolymer chains remain in water to form copolymer micelles and their aggregates in these media that solubilize and encapsulate the fullerene. The structure and properties of obtained polymer composites were studied by GPC with dual detection (RI and MALLS), FT‐IR, WAXS and SAXS methods. It is shown that in a composite based on N‐vinylpyrrolidone copolymer isolated from toluene the fullerene form larger particles, compare to that isolated from water. According to SAXS, the fullerene particles in a solid copolymer are organized in spherical objects with fine coil‐like structure. The stability of the composites in water, ethanol, and chloroform was shown to depend on the original polymer matrix structure and on copolymer/fullerene ratio. POLYM. Mechanism of Pu(VI) and Pu(V) autoreduction in aqueous solutions

Published data on the stability of Pu(VI) and Pu(V) in solutions of mineral and organic acids and their salts are analyzed. The hypothesis that Pu(VI) in acid solutions disappears owing to the disproportionation to Pu(VII) and Pu(V) cannot be accepted because of high redox potential of the Pu(VII)/(VI) couple. Plutonium( VI) is reduced owing to radiation-chemical reactions induced by its α-radiation and to the formation of a dimer (so-called excimer) by an excited Pu(VI) ion with an unexcited Pu(VI) ion, which rapidly decomposes to Pu(V) and H₂O₂. Plutonium(V) disappears owing to disproportionation and radiation-chemical processes.     

Oxidation of Am(III) to Am(IV) with ozone in solutions of heteropolyanions

Oxidation of Am(III) in the presence of K₁₀P2W₁₇O₆₁ and K₈SiW₁₁O₃₉ (L) at 20dGC was studied by spectrophotometry. Am(III) is oxidized with ozone to Am(IV) only in the pH range 3.5–1.0. In the case of formation of a complex with Am: L = 1: 1, the reaction is approximately first-order with respect to the metal, and its rate decreases with a decrease in pH from 3.5 to 1.0. Am(IV) in solution in the presence of ozone is slowly reduced with products of water α-ray radiolysis, predominantly with ?₂?₂. The rate constant of the reaction of Am(IV) with ?₂?₂ was estimated.     

Selective Recovery of Chromium from Precipitates Containing d Elements and Actinides: I. Effect of O2

Oxidation of Cr(III) hydroxides, double Fe(III)-Cr(III) hydroxides, and some examples of spinel phases NiCr₂O₄ and Fe(Cr,Fe)₂O₄ in alkaline suspensions (0.2-0.5 M NaOH) under the action of air and pure oxygen (1-3 atm) was studied. The reaction rate increases with increasing concentration of alkali, temperature, and oxygen pressure. Under these conditions, Pu(IV) sorbed on chromium hydroxides is not oxidized with oxygen and remains in the precipitate.
