Invariant assertions play an important role in the analysis and verification of iterative programs. In this paper, we introduce a related but distinct concept, namely that of invariant relation. While invariant assertions are useful to prove the correctness of a loop with respect to a specification (represented by a precondition/ postcondition pair) in Hoare’s logic, invariant relations are useful to derive the function of the loop in Mills’ logic.  相似文献

A series of polymer–clay nanocomposite (PCN) materials consisting of polystyrene (PS) and layered montmorillonite (MMT) clay was prepared by effectively dispersing the inorganic nanolayers of MMT clay in the organic PS matrix via in situ thermal polymerization. Organic styrene monomers were first intercalated into the interlayer regions of organophilic clay hosts, followed by a typical free radical polymerization with BPO as the initiator. The as‐synthesized PCN materials were characterized by infrared spectroscopy (IR), wide‐angle powder X‐ray diffraction (XRD) and transmission electron microscopy (TEM). PCN coatings with low clay loading (1 wt %) on cold‐rolled steel (CRS) were found to be superior in anticorrosion to those of bulk PS, based on a series of electrochemical measurements of corrosion potential, polarization resistance and corrosion current in a 5 wt % aqueous NaCl electrolyte. The molecular weights of PS extracted from PCN materials and bulk PS were determined by gel permeation chromatography (GPC) with tetrahydrofuran (THF) as the eluent. The effects of material composition on molecular barrier and thermal stability of PS and PCN materials, in the form of both free‐standing films and fine powders, were also studied by molecular permeability analysis, differential scanning calorimetry (DSC) and thermogravimetric analysis (TGA), respectively. © 2004 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. In this article, a series of nanocomposite materials that consisted of emeraldine base (EB) of polyaniline (PANI) and montmorillonite (MMT) clay were prepared by effectively dispersing the inorganic MMT clay platelets into organic PANI matrix via in situ chemically oxidative polymerization. Organic aniline monomers were first intercalated into the interlayer regions of organophilic clay hosts and followed by an one‐step oxidative polymerization with ammonium persulfate as oxidant. The as‐synthesized PANI‐clay nanocomposite (PCN) materials were characterized by Fourier‐Transformation infrared spectroscopy and transmission electron microscopy. It should be noted that the EB of PANI in the presence of dispersed intercalated MMT clay platelets was found to display an observable enhancement in polymer crystallinity as compared with that of neat PANI based on series of investigations of wide‐angle powder X‐ray diffraction patterns and differential scanning calorimetric studies. This remarkable increase of polymer crystallinity might be resulted from the effective heterogeneous nucleation effect of dispersed clay platelets existed in PCN materials. The surface morphology study of PCN materials was further evaluated by polarizing optical microscopy, scanning electron microscopy, and atomic force microscopy. POLYM. In this section, we will report on three applications of evolutionary algorithms (EA) in real world parameter optimization. These applications show how the principles, such as robustness and representation independence, make it possible to extend the scope of optimization algorithms available so far and find answers to problems where classical solution methods fail.Evolutionary algorithms are today a state-of-the-art methodology in solving hard optimization problems, and are regularly being used in industries such as automotive and aerospace. In fact, these algorithms have revolutionized the way hard problems are being solved today. The pioneers of evolutionary computation, including Larry Fogel as one the key founders of the field, have been laying the foundations with their creativity and visionary approach toward science.  相似文献

This study examines the influence of IL-7 on post-thymic CD4+ T cells using cord blood as a model system. Survival of naive cord blood T cells in the presence of IL-7 alone was significantly prolonged by up-regulating bcl-2, thereby preventing apoptosis while maintaining maximal cell viability. Cultures without IL-7 showed high rates of apoptosis resulting in 50% cell death by day 5 of culture. Upon phorbol 12-myristate 13-acetate + ionomycin stimulation, accumulation of cytoplasmic IL-2 was similar to that observed in freshly isolated cells, but no IL-4- or IFN-gamma-positive cells were detected. IL-7 maintained the naive T cells in a quiescent state expressing the CD45RA antigen. A significant finding was the loss of CD38 antigen expression on the naive cord blood T cells to levels similar to that observed on adult naive T cells. In contrast to the reduced proliferative response of fresh cord blood T cells to anti-CD2 + CD28 stimulation, the proliferative response of IL-7-treated cells was similar to that of adult naive T cells. This study shows that as well as maintaining the naive T cell pool by enhancing cell survival and up-regulating bcl-2 expression, IL-7 also functions as a maturation factor for post-thymic naive T cells.  相似文献

PURPOSE: We assess pain and quality of life following radical retropubic prostatectomy and determine whether intraoperative anesthetic management has any long-term effects on outcomes. MATERIALS AND METHODS: A total of 110 patients undergoing radical retropubic prostatectomy were randomly assigned to receive epidural and/or general anesthesia. Patients responded to a questionnaire mailed 3 and 6 months following surgery that assessed prostate symptoms, pain related to surgery, quality of life and mood. RESULTS: No long-term effects of anesthesia were observed. Of the 103 respondents (94%) at 3 months 49% had some pain related to surgery. Although pain was not related to anesthesic technique, patients who had it at 3 months used significantly more pain medication on postoperative day 3. Pain at 3 months was mild, averaging 1.5 on a scale of 0 to 10, and associated with poor perceptions of overall health (p <0.02), and reduced physical (p <0.01) and social (p <0.01) functioning. Pain at 3 months was associated with higher levels of preoperative anxiety (p <0.05). At 6 months 36 of 90 patients (35%) had some pain related to surgery and the impact was similar. CONCLUSIONS: Long-term effects of intraoperative anesthesic technique were not apparent. Mild pain following radical retropubic prostatectomy was common and associated with reduced quality of life, particularly social functioning. Affective distress, particularly anxiety, before surgery and use of pain medications following surgery may be predictors of chronic pain following radical retropubic prostatectomy.  相似文献

An organic/inorganic hybrid nanocomposite membrane, poly(vinyl alcohol)/clay (PVAC), was prepared. The morphology of PVAC nanocomposite membranes were characterized using transmission electron microscopy (TEM), X‐ray diffraction (XRD), and atomic force microscopy (AFM). The crystallinity and surface roughness increases with an increasing clay content in the PVAC nanocomposite membrane. Compared with the pure poly(vinyl alcohol) (PVA) membrane, the hybrid nanocomposite membrane (PVAC) shows an improvement in the thermal stability and the prevention of the water‐soluble property. The oxygen permeability and the water‐vapor permeation rate decreases with an increasing clay content (1–3 wt %) in the PVAC nanocomposite membranes. In addition, the effects of the clay content on the vapor‐permeation performance of an aqueous ethanol solution through the PVAC nanocomposite membranes was also investigated. © 2003 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. The circadian clock, which drives a wide range of bodily rhythms in synchrony with the day–night cycle, is based on a molecular oscillator that ticks with a period of approximately 24 h. Timed proteasomal degradation of clock components is central to the fine-tuning of the oscillator’s period. FBXL3 is a protein that functions as a substrate-recognition factor in the E3 ubiquitin ligase complex, and was originally shown in mice to mediate degradation of CRY proteins and thus contribute to the mammalian circadian clock mechanism. By exome sequencing, we have identified a FBXL3 mutation in patients with syndromic developmental delay accompanied by morphological abnormalities and intellectual disability, albeit with a normal sleep pattern. We have investigated the function of FBXL3 in the zebrafish, an excellent model to study both vertebrate development and circadian clock function and, like humans, a diurnal species. Loss of fbxl3a function in zebrafish led to disruption of circadian rhythms of promoter activity and mRNA expression as well as locomotor activity and sleep–wake cycles. However, unlike humans, no morphological effects were evident. These findings point to an evolutionary conserved role for FBXL3 in the circadian clock system across vertebrates and to the acquisition of developmental roles in humans.  相似文献

Almost all existing tool condition monitoring methods require either the critical parameters of models which are experimentally found or the self-learning algorithms that are trained with existing data. Genetic Tool Monitor (GTM) is proposed to identify the problems by using an analytical model for micro-end-milling operations and genetic algorithm. The current version of the GTM is capable to monitor the micro-end-milling operations without any previous experience and is able to estimate symmetrical wear and local damages at the cutting edges of a tool. Genetic algorithms (GA) are found as a promising health monitoring tool if an expression exists and the necessary computational time is allowable in that particular application. GTM generates meaningful information about the ongoing operation and allows the establishment of rules based on the operators' experience.  相似文献
