Synthesizing the components of photopolymerizing acryl composites for production of waveguides with high transparency within telecommunication spectral regions

Methods for synthesizing hydrocarbon and fluorine-containing monomers and oligomers for the creation of planar polymer waveguides were developed. Over 20 mono- and bifunctional methacrylates of hydrocarbon and fluorinated alcohols, glycols, and diols were synthesized and characterized, and their physicochemical and spectral properties were studied. Polymers with low absorption in telecommunication spectral regions, i.e., near 800 and 1500 nm, and a wide refraction index range of 1.34?C1.557 were obtained by the method of photopolymerization. The developed oligomers were used to produce planar waveguides.     

Approximation of elastic deformations on the surface of a silicon piezoresistive pressure transducer with three-dimensional E-type micromechanical structure

Approximation expressions for use in calculating tangential deformations on the surface of an E-type silicon piezoresistive membrane pressure transducer with three-dimensional micromechanical structure under actual operating conditions of a permanent joint and restraint by means of a supporting element are obtained. Parkerizing steel with preliminary surface activation

Attention focuses on how certain activators affect the parkerizing process and the properties of the phosphate films obtained. Comparative corrosion-endurance tests of the films obtained are conducted. The effectiveness of such activators in production conditions is established.     

Influence of steel substrate roughness on morphology and mesostructure of TiO2 porous layers produced by template-assisted dip coating

Mesoporous titania films were prepared by template-assisted dip coating on 1.4301 stainless-steel substrates processed by grinding and spark erosion to different degrees of roughness. The influence of substrate roughness on the morphology and mesostructure of deposited films was studied. Textures produced by grinding with roughness R_a ranging from 0.10 to 0.78 μm did not noticeably affect the pore structure as confirmed by similar pore size and a single cubic mesophase formed on grinded steel. Grinding had a modest effect on the film integrity which manifested in fractures developed in the texture depressions. Greater roughness of the steel produced by spark erosion affected the micelle self-assembly process yielding two different mesophases on a substrate of 1.08 μm roughness, and resulting in a predominant loss of templated mesostructure on a rougher (R_a = 2.69 μm) substrate surface. Film surface area expressed as m² BET per m² of the substrate planar dimensions increased with substrate roughness. Higher roughness resulted in higher photocatalytic activity of crystalline films when tested in methylene blue decomposition. Given that a moderate surface texture had a negligible effect on the film mesostructure, introducing controlled substrate roughness may serve as a technique to enhance the total film surface area.     

Modernized state primary standards of the units of thermal quantities

The content and results of efforts to modernize the three State Primary Standards of the units of temperature in the 0–3000°C range and also of the standards of thermal conductivity and coefficient of linear expansion of solids, stored at the Mendeleev Research Institute of Metrology, are described. It is shown that, simultaneously with the modernization of the standards, the systems of transmitting the dimensions of the units of the standards to working measuring instruments have also been improved.     

New Diamond-Based Superhard Materials. Production and Properties. Review

The authors describe the processes that are integral to the production of diamond polycrystals and provide characterization of precursor materials. The methods of producing diamond-based polycrystalline and composite materials are outlined, and the factors that have an influence on the composition and properties of such materials are analyzed. Some new approaches to the production of diamond-based superhard materials of various functionalities are discussed.
