Calcium cobaltite Ca3Co4O9, abbreviated Co349, is a promising thermoelectric material for high-temperature applications in air. Its anisotropic properties can be assigned to polycrystalline parts by texturing. Tape casting and pressure-assisted sintering (PAS) are a possible future way for a cost-effective mass-production of thermoelectric generators. This study examines the influence of pressure and dwell time during PAS at 900°C of tape-cast Co349 on texture and thermoelectric properties. Tape casting aligns lentoid Co349. PAS results in a textured Co349 microstructure with the thermoelectrically favorable ab-direction perpendicular to the pressing direction. By pressure variation during sintering, the microstructure of Co349 can be tailored either toward a maximum figure of merit as required for energy harvesting or toward a maximum power factor as required for energy harvesting. Moderate pressure of 2.5 MPa results in 25% porosity and a textured microstructure with a figure of merit of 0.13 at 700°C, two times higher than the dry-pressed, pressureless-sintered reference. A pressure of 7.5 MPa leads to 94% density and a high power factor of 326 µW/mK2 at 800°C, which is 11 times higher than the dry-pressed reference (30 MPa) from the same powder. 相似文献

Pathogenic variants in KCNA2, encoding for the voltage-gated potassium channel Kv1.2, have been identified as the cause for an evolving spectrum of neurological disorders. Affected individuals show early-onset developmental and epileptic encephalopathy, intellectual disability, and movement disorders resulting from cerebellar dysfunction. In addition, individuals with a milder course of epilepsy, complicated hereditary spastic paraplegia, and episodic ataxia have been reported. By analyzing phenotypic, functional, and genetic data from published reports and novel cases, we refine and further delineate phenotypic as well as functional subgroups of KCNA2-associated disorders. Carriers of variants, leading to complex and mixed channel dysfunction that are associated with a gain- and loss-of-potassium conductance, more often show early developmental abnormalities and an earlier onset of epilepsy compared to individuals with variants resulting in loss- or gain-of-function. We describe seven additional individuals harboring three known and the novel KCNA2 variants p.(Pro407Ala) and p.(Tyr417Cys). The location of variants reported here highlights the importance of the proline(405)–valine(406)–proline(407) (PVP) motif in transmembrane domain S6 as a mutational hotspot. A novel case of self-limited infantile seizures suggests a continuous clinical spectrum of KCNA2-related disorders. Our study provides further insights into the clinical spectrum, genotype–phenotype correlation, variability, and predicted functional impact of KCNA2 variants. 相似文献

The smart grid is promoted as one of the key elements in a low-carbon transition in many countries. In Denmark, the dominant framing of the smart grid emphasises the challenge of integrating much more wind power into the electricity system and using electricity for heating (heat pumps) and transport (electric cars). In the process of radically transforming the electricity system, strategic system builders need to align many forces, including consumers, who play an important role in the functioning of such large networked systems. System builders need to explore, for instance, whether and how users can be motivated to be flexible in relation to moving electricity consumption over time. This paper reports on one of the first smart-grid-related projects in Denmark in which consumer aspects have been central and where potentials for flexible electricity consumption have been tested. The aim of the paper is to explore what can be learned from such experiments and which roles they play in the construction of the smart grid. Lipids in almonds are present as oil bodies in the nut. These oil bodies are surrounded by a membrane of proteins and phospholipids and are a delivery vehicle of energy in the form of triglycerides, similarly to the more studied bovine milk fat globule membrane. Chemical, physical and microscopic analyses revealed major differences in the composition and structure of almond oil bodies and bovine milk fat globules. The lipids of both natural emulsions differed in degree of unsaturation, chain length, and class. The almond oil body membrane does not contain any cholesterol or sphingomyelin unlike the bovine milk fat globule membrane. Therefore, the phospholipid distribution at the surface of the oil bodies did not present any liquid-ordered domains. The membranes, a monolayer around almond oil bodies and a trilayer around bovine fat globules, may affect the stability of the lipid droplets in a food matrix and the way the lipids are digested. 相似文献

This paper reports on the fabrication and performance of solid-oxide fuel cell (SOFC) anodes utilizing yttria reaction-sintered zirconia (YRSZ). Through the reaction-sintering process, the technical-grade YSZ commonly used in the Ni-YSZ anode cermet is replaced with lower-cost ZrO2 and Y2O3 materials. When sintered in the presence of nickel oxide, ZrO2 and Y2O3 form cubic-phase YSZ at temperatures characteristic of SOFC processing (1400-1550 °C). Reaction sintering enables the formation of YSZ during cell fabrication, reducing SOFC anode raw-materials cost and the number of SOFC-fabrication processes. This paper reports the results of a broad range of characterization and performance measurements to evaluate the YRSZ material, including (1) crystal structure, (2) morphology, (3) pore-size distribution, (4) electronic resistivity, (5) fracture strength, (6) gas transport and catalytic activity, and (7) electrochemical performance. Alkaline phosphatase (ALP) is widely used as an indicator of proper pasteurization in bovine milk. Due to interest in the use of equine ALP as a time/temperature integrator (TTI) for evaluation of the efficacy of thermal processing of equine milk, its inactivation kinetics were evaluated in whole and skimmed equine milk. Experimentally determined decimal reduction times showed that equine ALP is more readily inactivated in equine milk than its bovine counterpart. Thus, considering the required 6 D reduction of pathogens and the rather low enzyme level present in equine milk, equine ALP will not be suitable as indicator for correct pasteurization of equine milk under the conditions currently used in the reference method for the determination of ALP in milk-based products. 相似文献
