Spatial response characteristics of an electromagnetic induction sensor as it passes over a metallic object are investigated using a simple analytical technique. In this low-frequency technique, one replaces a metallic object with equivalent electric and magnetic dipoles and then applies the principles of reciprocity to obtain the induced EMF in a sensor coil. Analysis is carried out for a sensor employing rectangular coils, and the object set is confined to a sphere and a prolate spheroid. The simple approach, which is illustrated with both numerical and experimental data, is found to be adequate to understand the effect on the response characteristics of parameters such as object depth, orientation, aspect ratio, and material properties  相似文献

Complex scattering matrix parameters of a slot-coupled, waveguide tee junction are determined using a moment method of analysis with entire orthogonal basis functions and a rigorous analysis of the effect of wall thickness. The variations of the equivalent network parameter, coupling, and return loss with frequency are evaluated, and the results are compared with experimental data. Performance Optimizations for Deploying VoIP Services in Mesh Networks   总被引:1,自引:0,他引:1  
In the recent past, there has been a tremendous increase in the popularity of VoIP services as a result of huge growth in broadband access. The same voice-over-Internet protocol (VoIP) service poses new challenges when deployed over a wireless mesh network, while enabling users to make voice calls using WiFi phones. Packet losses and delay due to interference in a multiple-hop mesh network with limited capacity can significantly degrade the end-to-end VoIP call quality. In this work, we discuss the basic requirements for efficient deployment of VoIP services over a mesh network. We present and evaluate practical optimizing techniques that can enhance the network capacity, maintain the VoIP quality and handle user mobility efficiently. Extensive experiments conducted on a real testbed and ns-2 provide insights into the performance issues and demonstrate the level of improvement that can be obtained by the proposed techniques. Specifically, we find that packet aggregation along with header compression can increase the number of supported VoIP calls in a multihop network by 2-3 times. The proposed fast path switching is highly effective in maintaining the VoIP quality. Our fast handoff scheme achieves almost negligible disruption during calls to roaming clients  相似文献

An abrasive free chemical mechanical planarization(AFCMP) of semi-polar(1122) AlN surface has been demonstrated. The effect of slurry pH, polishing pressure, and platen velocity on the material removal rate(MRR) and surface quality(RMS roughness) have been studied. The effect of polishing pressure on the AFCMP of the(1122) AlN surface has been compared with that of the(1122) AlGaN surface. The maximum MRR has been found to be ~562 nm/h for the semi-polar(1122) AlN surface, under the experimental conditions of 38 kPa pressure, 90 rpm platen velocity, 30 rpm carrier velocity, slurry pH 3 and 0.4 M oxidizer concentration. The best root mean square(RMS) surface roughness of ~1.2 nm and ~0.7 nm, over a large scanning area of 0.70×0.96 mm2, has been achieved on AFCMP processed semi-polar(1122) AlN and(AlGaN) surfaces using optimized slurry chemistry and processing parameters.  相似文献

In developing nations, Internet infrastructure in scarce; however, majority of people in developing countries also need access to information that matter for their daily life and livelihood. As cost of computers are higher than mobile phones and infrastructure for running computers by stable electricity is not widely available at many places of under developed and developing (hence, referred as developing) countries. One of the major options for under-privileged people in developing countries to access information is through mobile phone. A mobile device with GPRS for access to Internet services is still expensive for a common man to afford in developing countries. Therefore, to offer mobile web for the developing countries, we need to look at SMS (Short Message Service) as transport bearer, which is cheaper and can support most of the actionable services (many important services which needs a few bytes to exchange the information). SMS as transport bearer has one constraints – it does not interoperate (i.e., a user belong to one service provider is not able to access services by SMS-data of another service provider). In this paper, we propose a routing algorithm that makes SMS-data interoperable. We also propose architecture for mobile web over SMS as transport bearer for seamless application access in roaming, number portability, and vehicular condition. Substantial researches have been done on performance of TCP/IP for wireless web that mainly focused on three applications viz., file transfer, Electronic mail, and World Wide Web. This paper presents performance of actionable information through online transaction over TCP/IP and SMS under similar conditions; it shows SMS is not at a disadvantage compared to TCP/IP.  相似文献

A quasi-TEM approach based on conformal transformation is used for the determination of the characteristic impedance of a rectangular coaxial line (TEM cell) having a symmetrically located inner conductor (septum) supported on a dielectric slab of equal width. The method of determination of the capacitance of the dielectric-filled portion is discussed. The results on characteristic impedance for two values of dielectric constant are presented.  相似文献

A method of preparing self-doped p- and n-type and In-doped n-type CdTe thin-films for photovoltaic applications has been developed using r.f. sputtering. Ohmic contacts to n-type films with contact resistivity less than 10?2 Ω — cm2 have been obtained. Schottky barrier diode test devices, formed by evaporation of various metals including Au on n-CdTe films, have been examined for electrical and photovoltaic evaluation of the sputtered films. Although S.B. diodes based on In doped films, prepared under Cd overpressure, show promising electrical and photovoltaic performance (Voc ~ 315 mV, Isc ~ 4.6mA/cm2), much improvement remains to be made by further control of dopant concentration and structural details of films.  相似文献

In order to apply the powerful kernel-based pattern recognition algorithms such as support vector machines to predict functional sites in proteins, amino acids need encoding prior to input. In this regard, a new string kernel function, termed as the modified bio-basis function, is proposed that maps a nonnumerical sequence space to a numerical feature space. The proposed string kernel function is developed based on the conventional bio-basis function and needs a bio-basis string as a support like conventional kernel function. The concept of zone of influence of a bio-basis string is introduced in the proposed kernel function to take into account the influence of each bio-basis string in nonnumerical sequence space. An efficient method is described to select a set of bio-basis strings for the proposed kernel function, integrating the Fisher ratio and a novel concept of degree of resemblance. The integration enables the method to select a reduced set of relevant and nonredundant bio-basis strings.  相似文献
