The role of catecholamines in the distribution of intrarenal blood flow and in single-nephron glomerular filtration rate (SNGFR) was evaluated in anesthetized Wistar rats by the Hanssen technique. Epinephrine (EPI) and norepinephrine (NOR) were infused to produce elevations of 20-30 mmHg in mean arterial pressure. Superficial and juxtamedullary nephron perfusion and filtration were determined by the presence of Prussian blue dye. In the control group, 100% of the nephrons presented a homogeneous pattern of perfusion and filtration. In contrast, a heterogeneous distribution of the dye was found even in the larger arteries (arciform and radial), indicating variable perfusion and filtration in both superficial and juxtamedullary nephrons. The effects of EPI and NOR were also evaluated in the superficial cortex by the micropuncture technique in two additional groups of Munich-Wistar rats. Mean SNGFR was 27% and 54% lower in the EPI- and NOR-treated groups, respectively. No change in mean intraglomerular hydraulic pressure was observed after EPI or NOR infusion in spite of a highly scattered pattern, indicating an important variability in perfusion along the superficial cortex, and/or different sensitivity of the pre- and post-glomerular arterioles. The present data suggest that EPI and NOR may affect intrarenal hemodynamics by modifying perfusion and filtration in both superficial and juxtamedullary glomeruli and not by shifting blood flow from superficial to juxtamedullary nephrons. The heterogeneous pattern of perfusion was a consequence of differential vasoconstriction along the intrarenal arteries, probably due to different density and/or sensitivity of the adrenergic receptor subtypes present in the intrarenal vascular tree. 相似文献

Alumina-yttrium aluminum garnet (YAG) 50 vol % nanocomposite powders were prepared by a wet-chemical synthesis and characterized by simultaneous DTA-TG, XRD, and TEM analyses. Amorphous powders were preheated at four different temperatures (namely, 600, 800, 900, and 1215°C) on the basis of the previous characterization, and the influence of this thermal treatment on sintering behavior, final microstructure, and density was investigated. The best-performing sample was that precalcined at 900°C; however, dense bodies were just yielded by sintering at 1600°C, resulting in a micronic/slightly submicronic microstructure. A preseeding step by a fast thermal treatment of the amorphous powder as well as a fast sintering procedure of green compacts, following some literature indications, were also performed as a comparison. Finally, the previously stated thermal pretreatment of the amorphous product was coupled to its extensive mechanical activation performed by wet planetary/ball milling. Infants who ingest high amounts of fluoride can be at risk of dental fluorosis. The authors analyzed the fluoride concentration of 238 commercially available infant foods. Fluoride concentrations ranged from 0.01 to 8.38 micrograms of fluoride per gram, with the highest fluoride concentrations found in infant foods containing chicken. The structure and biological activities of two disulphide isomersof a C-region deletion mutant of insulin-like growth factor-I(IGF-I) which has an AsnGly link engineered at the junctionof the A- and B-regions were studied before and after chemicalcleavage. Circular dichroism (CD) spectra and binding affinityto IGF binding protein 3 (IGFBP3) indicated that the treatmentwith hydroxylamine did not disrupt the overall tertiary foldof the hormones. Cleavage restored some binding affinity forthe IGF-I receptor in both isomers and weakly restored the abilityto stimulate incorporation of tritiated thymidine into DNA inNIH 3T3 fibroblasts transfected with the human IGF-I receptor.Cleavage also restored metabolic capacity, as measured by theability of the isomers to promote lipogenesis in isolated ratadipocytes through the insulin receptor. These results are consistentwith the theory that binding of IGF-I to the IGF-I receptorrequires a conformational change similar to that involved ininsulin binding the insulin receptor. The weak affinity forthe IGF-I receptor after cleavage is consistent with the beliefthat residues in the C-region interact with the IGF-I receptor.This structural difference between insulin and IGF-I gives eacha higher binding affinity for its own receptor. 相似文献

A dense medium phase matrix developed based on the concept of random lattice perturbation is employed in the radiative transfer theory to calculate the coand cross-polarized backscatter from a layer of randomly distributed spherical scatterers. The position randomness properties are characterized by the variance and correlation function of scatterer positions within the medium. The dense medium phase matrix differs from the conventional one in two major aspects, i.e., there is an amplitude and a phase correction. These corrections account for the effects of close spacing and position correlation between scatterers in a dense discrete random medium. This study shows that phase coherency and close-spacing amplitude modifications are two separate corrections necessary for an electrically dense medium. Results indicate that there is a need to distinguish between spatially and electrically dense medium. The phase correction is found to have a greater impact on cross-polarized than like-polarized backscatter coefficients; the converse is true of the amplitude correction. Backscattering calculations from the theory are compared with measurements from controlled microwave experiments on random media consisting of closely packed spheres, and from field measurements of dry snowpack. We have reported on coupled capacitance-conductance measurements on Ga nanoparticles embedded in vitreous matrices. The melting of nanoparticles was clearly detected as an abrupt increase in the capacitance vs. temperature scans. The influence of the embedding matrix and of the frequency of the applied field on the dielectric response was checked. We report common-base medium power amplifiers designed for G-band (140-220 GHz) and W-band (75-110 GHz) in InP mesa double HBT technology. The common-base topology is preferred over common-emitter and common-collector topologies due to its superior high-frequency maximum stable gain (MSG). Base feed inductance and collector emitter overlap capacitance, however, reduce the common-base MSG. A single-sided collector contact reduces Cce and, hence, improves the MSG. A single-stage common-base tuned amplifier exhibited 7-dB small-signal gain at 176 GHz. This amplifier demonstrated 8.7-dBm output power with 5-dB associated power gain at 172 GHz. A two-stage common-base amplifier exhibited 8.1-dBm output power with 6.3-dB associated power gain at 176 GHz and demonstrated 9.1-dBm saturated output power. Another two-stage common-base amplifier exhibited 11.6-dBm output power with an associated power gain of 4.5 dB at 148 GHz. Powder metallurgy is a very attractive method for producing titanium alloys, which can be near-net-shape formed and have freedom in composition selection. However, applications are still limited due to product affordability. In this paper, we will discuss a possible cost-effective route, combining fast heating and hot processing, to produce titanium alloys with similar or even better mechanical properties than that of ingot metallurgy titanium alloys. Two titanium alloys, Ti-5Al-5V-5Mo-3Cr (Ti-5553) and Ti-5Fe, were successfully produced from HDH titanium powder and other master alloy powders using the proposed processing route.
