The fetal magnetoencephalogram (fMEG) is measured in the presence of large interference from the maternal and fetal magnetocardiograms. This interference can be efficiently attenuated by orthogonal projection of the corresponding spatial vectors. However, the projection operators redistribute the fMEG signal among sensors. Although redistribution can be readily accounted for in the forward solution, visual interpretation of the fMEG signal topography is made difficult. We have devised a general, model-independent method for correction of the redistribution effect that utilizes the assumption that we know in which channels the fMEG should be negligible (such channels are distant from the known fetal head position). In a simplified case where the fMEG can be explained by equivalent current dipoles, the correction can also be obtained from fitting the dipoles to the fMEG signal. The corrected fMEG signal topography then corresponds to the dipole forward solution, but without orthogonal projection. We illustrate the redistribution correction on an example of experimentally measured flash evoked fMEG.  相似文献

Ohmic contacts to n-GaN using Ag, Au, TiN, Au/Ti, Au/Mo/Ti, and Au/Si/Ti have been studied. The Fermi level of GaN appears to be unpinned, and metals and compounds with work functions less than the electron affinity resulted in ohmic contacts. Reactively sputter deposited TiN was ohmic as deposited. However, Au/Ti, Au/Mo/Ti, and Au/Si/Ti required heat treatments to form ohmic contacts, with the best being an RTA at 900°C. Ag and Au were shown to diffuse across the GaN surface at T>500°C; therefore, they are unstable, poor ohmic contact metallizations as single metals. The other contact schemes were thermally stable up to 500°C for times of 30 min.  相似文献

Much of the present research on the physiological effects of dietary fiber and starch has been done on sources isolated from the parent material, and it is not clear whether they have the same effects if fed in the intact or whole grain. For dietary fiber, physiological effect depends on extent of fermentation in the large intestine, and this is influenced by chemical composition, solubility, physical form, and presence of lignin or other compounds. All of these factors are altered by isolation of a fiber source from the whole grain, and hence effects of eating fiber vary. Similarly, physical form and presence in the whole grain will affect digestibility of starch in the small intestine, which in turn influences the glycemic response and colonic effects determined by the extent of malabsorption and entry into the colon. Starch that enters the colon is fermented and produces short‐chain fatty acids, particularly butyrate, which is necessary to maintain a healthy mucosa. Hence, their presence within the whole grain may have important implications for health for both dietary fiber and starch. Evidence indicates that such effects are beneficial and that whole‐grain consumption should be encouraged.  相似文献

A novel, unobtrusive and wearable, multiparameter ambulatory physiologic monitoring system for space and terrestrial applications, termed LifeGuard, is presented. The core element is a wearable monitor, the crew physiologic observation device (CPOD), that provides the capability to continuously record two standard electrocardiogram leads, respiration rate via impedance plethysmography, heart rate, hemoglobin oxygen saturation, ambient or body temperature, three axes of acceleration, and blood pressure. These parameters can be digitally recorded with high fidelity over a 9-h period with precise time stamps and user-defined event markers. Data can be continuously streamed to a base station using a built-in Bluetooth RF link or stored in 32 MB of on-board flash memory and downloaded to a personal computer using a serial port. The device is powered by two AAA batteries. The design, laboratory, and field testing of the wearable monitors are described.  相似文献

Imaging resolution in optical coherence tomography (OCT) is a key determinant for acquiring clinically useful optical biopsies of tissues. In contrast to light or confocal microscopy, the axial and transverse resolutions in OCT are independent and each can be analyzed individually. A method for mitigating transverse blurring and the apparent loss of transverse resolution in OCT by means of Gaussian beam deconvolution is presented. Such a method provides better representation of a specimen by using known physical parameters of a lens. To implement this method, deconvolution algorithms based on a focal-dependent kernel are investigated. First, the direct inverse problem is investigated using two types of regularization, truncated singular value decomposition, and Tikhonov. Second, an iterative expectation maximization algorithm, the Richardson-Lucy algorithm, with a beam-width-dependent iteration scheme is developed. A dynamically iterative Richardson-Lucy algorithm can reduce transverse blurring by providing an improvement in the transverse point-spread-function for sparse scattering samples in regions up to two times larger than the confocal region of the lens. These deblurring improvements inside and outside of the confocal region, which are validated experimentally, are possible without introducing new optical imaging hardware or acquiring multiple images of the same specimen. Implementation of this method in sparse scattering specimens, such as engineered tissues, has the potential to improve cellular detection and categorization.  相似文献

In this paper, we apply a new time-frequency spectral estimation method for multichannel data to epileptiform electroencephalography (EEG). The method is based on the smooth localized complex exponentials (SLEX) functions which are time-frequency localized versions of the Fourier functions and, hence, are ideal for analyzing nonstationary signals whose spectral properties evolve over time. The SLEX functions are simultaneously orthogonal and localized in time and frequency because they are obtained by applying a projection operator rather than a window or taper. In this paper, we present the Auto-SLEX method which is a statistical method that 1) computes the periodogram using the SLEX transform, 2) automatically segments the signal into approximately stationary segments using an objective criterion that is based on log energy, and 3) automatically selects the optimal bandwidth of the spectral smoothing window. The method is applied to the intracranial EEG from a patient with temporal lobe epilepsy. This analysis reveals a reduction in average duration of stationarity in preseizure epochs of data compared to baseline. These changes begin up to hours prior to electrical seizure onset in this patient.  相似文献

This paper presents a new method of knowledge gathering for decision support in image understanding based on information extracted from the dynamics of saccadic eye movements. The framework involves the construction of a generic image feature extraction library, from which the feature extractors that are most relevant to the visual assessment by domain experts are determined automatically through factor analysis. The dynamics of the visual search are analyzed by using the Markov model for providing training information to novices on how and where to look for image features. The validity of the framework has been evaluated in a clinical scenario whereby the pulmonary vascular distribution on Computed Tomography images was assessed by experienced radiologists as a potential indicator of heart failure. The performance of the system has been demonstrated by training four novices to follow the visual assessment behavior of two experienced observers. In all cases, the accuracy of the students improved from near random decision making (33%) to accuracies ranging from 50% to 68%.  相似文献

Important aspects in engineering gold nanoparticles for theranostic applications include the control of size, optical properties, cytotoxicity, biodistribution, and clearance. In this study, gold nanotubes with controlled length and tunable absorption in the near‐infrared (NIR) region have been exploited for applications as photothermal conversion agents and in vivo photoacoustic imaging contrast agents. A length‐controlled synthesis has been developed to fabricate gold nanotubes (NTs) with well‐defined shape (i.e., inner void and open ends), high crystallinity, and tunable NIR surface plasmon resonance. A coating of poly(sodium 4‐styrenesulfonate) (PSS) endows the nanotubes with colloidal stability and low cytotoxicity. The PSS‐coated Au NTs have the following characteristics: i) cellular uptake by colorectal cancer cells and macrophage cells, ii) photothermal ablation of cancer cells using single wavelength pulse laser irradiation, iii) excellent in vivo photoacoustic signal generation capability and accumulation at the tumor site, iv) hepatobiliary clearance within 72 h postintravenous injection. These results demonstrate that these PSS‐coated Au NTs have the ideal attributes to develop their potential as effective and safe in vivo imaging nanoprobes, photothermal conversion agents, and drug delivery vehicles. To the best of knowledge, this is the first in vitro and in vivo study of gold nanotubes.  相似文献
