Structural health monitoring (SHM) is an active area of research devoted to systems that can autonomously and proactively assess the structural integrity of bridges, buildings, and aerospace vehicles. Recent technological advances promise the eventual ability to cover a large civil structure with low-cost wireless sensors that can continuously monitor a building's structural health, but researchers face several obstacles to reaching this goal, including high data-rate, data-fidelity, and time-synchronization requirements. We conducted a comprehensive humidifier disinfectant exposure characterization for 374 subjects with lung disease who presumed their disease was related to humidifier disinfectant use (patient group) and for 303 of their family members (family group) for an ongoing epidemiological study. We visited the homes of the registered patients to investigate disinfectant use characteristics. Probability of exposure to disinfectants was determined from the questionnaire and supporting evidence from photographs demonstrating the use of humidifier disinfectant, disinfectant purchase receipts, any residual disinfectant, and the consistency of their statements. Exposure duration was estimated as cumulative disinfectant use hours from the questionnaire. Airborne disinfectant exposure intensity (μg/m3) was estimated based on the disinfectant volume (ml) and frequency added to the humidifier per day, disinfectant bulk level (μg/ml), the volume of the room (m3) with humidifier disinfectant, and the degree of ventilation. Overall, the distribution patterns of the intensity, duration, and cumulative exposure to humidifier disinfectants for the patient group were higher than those of the family group, especially for pregnant women and patients ≤6 years old. Further study is underway to evaluate the association between the disinfectant exposures estimated here with clinically diagnosed lung disease.  相似文献

Three kinds of single-crystalline alumina plates with the crystallographic planes of C, m, and R were diffusion-bonded with liquid-phase sintered (98)alumina-(2)anorthite (in wt%) plates (P) and then heat-treated at 1600°C under a Cr203-containing atmosphere. During the heat treatment, for all of the specimens studied, the anorthite liquid films between alumina plates migrated to grains with surface orientation corresponding to higher coherency strain energy. This result is in better agreement with a prediction based on the coherency strain theory than the previous one obtained for grain-boundary migration. The discrepancy between the predicted and previously observed migration directions of some grain boundaries in alumina may therefore be attributed to an effect of grain-boundary structure and stress transmission across the boundary.  相似文献

We report an anomalous Zn surface diffusion in InP during annealing of ohmic contact structures containing Zn. A Pd/Zn/Pd contact was used to demonstrate this phenomenon. Electrical properties of the contact were monitored to corroborate this anomalous surface diffusion. Cross-sectional scanning electron microscopy was also used to delineate the Zn diffusion front lines. It was found that the Zn surface lateral diffusion can extend ≥50 μm for samples annealed at 500°C or higher temperatures. Close attention should be paid to this anomalous lateral surface diffusion during fabrication of devices using Zn-contained ohmic contacts.  相似文献

We investigated the fiber length dependence of the phase change near 1580 nm induced by 980-nm pump beam in Yb/sup 3+/-Al/sup 3+/ co-doped optical glass fibers by use of a long-period fiber grating pair. As the pumping power increased, the phase change linearly increased and then was gradually saturated. Both the saturated phase change and the saturation pump power increased with the increase of the fiber length. The saturated phase change in Yb/sup 3+/-Al/sup 3+/ co-doped fibers of 16.7, 33.2, and 43.5 cm was found to be /spl sim/0.5, /spl sim/0.8, and /spl sim/1.0 rad, respectively. The saturation of the phase change is attributed to the saturation of the absorption from the finite ytterbium ions doped in the fibers.  相似文献

This study considers the prediction of natural frequency to avoid resonance in a wind turbine tower-cable coupled system. An analytical model based on the Rayleigh-Ritz method is proposed to predict the resonance frequency of a wind turbine tower structure supported by four guy cables. To verify the validity of the analytical model, a small tower-cable model is manufactured and tested. The frequency and mode data of the tower model are obtained by modal testing and finite element analysis. The validity of the proposed method is verified through the comparison of the frequency analysis results. Finally, using a parametric study with the analytical model, we identified how the cable tension and cable angle affect the resonance frequency of the wind turbine tower structure. From the analysis results, the tension limit and optimal angle of the cable are identified.  相似文献

We report the transmission characteristics of high-speed-coated lightguide fibres; the evaluation is based on a total length of 90 km of single-mode fibre. For this experiment the line speed was varied from 2 to 10 m/s, and each sample length obtained from a preform was ~ 10 km. We found that the average losses of the fibres coated at three different speeds (2, 5 and 10 m/s) are all ~ 0.4 dB/km at 1.32 ?m.  相似文献

Porous polysilicon (PPS) emitters were fabricated by depositing an Au thin film on a thermally oxidized polysilicon and their emission properties were examined. The emission properties were also measured for the emitters with various Au thicknesses and the vacuum packaged devices were then developed. The experimental results show that the electrical performances of PPS emitters decreased, because high-temperature packaging process will lead to thermally induced phenomenon between thin layers. We have carried out optimal-thickness variation in Au thickness to improve electron emission properties of PPS emitters packaged. When PPS emitters packaged was driven directly, the field-induced electron emission through anode phosphor was observed.  相似文献

A new structure for polarization-selective elements, consisting of two holographic gratings and a Dove prism coupler, is proposed. The absence of a multistage waveguide and the benefits of compact size and lightweight volume are the outstanding features of the new structure. Based on the coupled-wave theory, the analysis and design of the structure are discussed in detail to calculate the required index modulation. Several parameters, such as the recording intensity, the exposure time, and the recording angles for the fabrication of the proposed element, are determined. Under these conditions, the element is fabricated in Dupont photopolymer HRF-150-38 material and with an operating wavelength of 532 nm. A simplified pickup head is constructed to evaluate the performance of the fabricated element.  相似文献
