Expansion behaviour for a bed of binary mixture of the irregularly shaped particle in Newtonian liquid was measured in two different circular columns. Variations in the physical parameters on the expansion behaviour have been reported. Bed expansion increases with an increase in liquid velocity and a decrease in particle diameter. Static bed height and expansion of the bed are low for higher diameter columns. An empirical correlation has been developed for predicting the ratio of bed height at the fluidized condition to the initial bed height as a function of the physical and dynamic variables related to the system for the binary particle mixtures. The correlation coefficient and variance of the estimate are 0.9299 and 0.0013, respectively, which is acceptable statistical accuracy. A hybrid of the genetic algorithm and neural network modelling for the prediction of the same has also been attempted where the input parameters are optimized using the Levenberg–Marquardt algorithm. With a relative error of 1.46%, the genetic algorithm performed well. So, the modelling has successfully predicted the bed height ratio at fluidized conditions to the initial bed height.  相似文献

This paper numerically investigates both the inline and staggered arrays of circular multiple swirling air jets that impinge perpendicularly onto a smooth flat surface. The simulations were conducted for various flow and geometric parameters, such as Reynolds number (Re = 11,600, 24,600, and 35,000), jet-to-surface distance (H/D = 1, 2, 3, and 4), jet-to-jet separation distance (Z/D = 1.5, 3.0, and 4.5) and swirl numbers (S = 0, 0.3, and 0.75), where D is the nozzle diameter. For S = 0.75, a strong recirculation develops due to the vortex breakdown, depends on Z/D, around the axis and near the wall. The extent of the recirculation is larger for the staggered array. Intense heat transfer is anticipated at strong swirl and close impingement cases with the expense of uniformity; whereas a relatively even heat transfer is observed for larger impingements. The increase in jet-to-jet separation enhances the overall cooling effect and the staggered configuration of nozzles gives better performance. It appears that both the crossflow and turbulence around the periphery of each jet predominantly govern the heat transfer characteristics. The enhancement of heat transfer occurs for increasing Re, and the overall Nusselt number (Nu) prediction is scaled by Ren, with n dependent on S. Finally a correlation is developed for the average Nusselt number to relate different control parameters.  相似文献

Spectrum handoff (SH) in the cognitive radio network (CRN) is considered as a key challenging area to enhance the performance of secondary users (SUs) in CRN. If the primary user is detected, the SU may pause and stay on the same channel or may perform SH to another idle channel. An accurate and precise handoff decision improves the overall throughput and quality of experience of end-users. In this paper, we introduce a new SH algorithm and continuous short-sensing strategy to improve the overall throughput of SUs. In addition, we have derived the minimum length of the target channel sequence based on network-specific parameters like desired call dropping probability. Further, an optimum channel search time is obtained to minimize the handoff delay. The simulation result shows that the proposed scheme improves the overall throughput of CRN, and the mean opinion score of different video applications increases by 10%, 4.6%, and 1% for rapid motion, gentle walk, and slight motion types of video applications. In the case of VoIP applications, the maximum simultaneous call is improved by 2 times in the case of G.711, 1.72 times in the case of G.729, and 1.66 times in the case of iLBC.  相似文献
