In fast magnetic resonance (MR) imaging with long readout times, such as echo-planar imaging (EPI) and spiral scans, it is important to correct for the effects of field inhomogeneity to reduce image distortion and blurring. Such corrections require an accurate field map, a map of the off-resonance frequency at each voxel. Standard field map estimation methods yield noisy field maps, particularly in image regions with low spin density. This paper describes regularized methods for field map estimation from two or more MR scans having different echo times. These methods exploit the fact that field maps are generally smooth functions. The methods use algorithms that decrease monotonically a regularized least-squares cost function, even though the problem is highly nonlinear. Results show that the proposed regularized methods significantly improve the quality of field map estimates relative to conventional unregularized methods.   相似文献

A new image reconstruction method to correct for the effects of magnetic field inhomogeneity in non-Cartesian sampled magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) is proposed. The conjugate phase reconstruction method, which corrects for phase accumulation due to applied gradients and magnetic field inhomogeneity, has been commonly used for this case. This can lead to incomplete correction, in part, due to the presence of gradients in the field inhomogeneity function. Based on local distortions to the k-space trajectory from these gradients, a spatially variant sample density compensation function is introduced as part of the conjugate phase reconstruction. This method was applied to both simulated and experimental spiral imaging data and shown to produce more accurate image reconstructions. Two approaches for fast implementation that allow the use of fast Fourier transforms are also described. The proposed method is shown to produce fast and accurate image reconstructions for spiral sampled MRI.  相似文献

The growing interest in pulse-mode processing by neural networks is encouraging the development of hardware implementations of massively parallel networks of integrate-and-fire neurons distributed over multiple chips. Address-event representation (AER) has long been considered a convenient transmission protocol for spike based neuromorphic devices. One missing, long-needed feature of AER-based systems is the ability to acquire data from complex neuromorphic systems and to stimulate them using suitable data. We have implemented a general-purpose solution in the form of a peripheral component interconnect (PCI) board (the PCI-AER board) supported by software. We describe the main characteristics of the PCI-AER board, and of the related supporting software. To show the functionality of the PCI-AER infrastructure we demonstrate a reconfigurable multichip neuromorphic system for feature selectivity which models orientation tuning properties of cortical neurons  相似文献

The binary hypercube Q n has a small diameter, but a relatively large number of links. Because of this, efforts have been made to determine the maximum number of links that can be deleted without increasing the diameter. However, the resulting networks are not vertex‐symmetric. We propose a family of vertex‐symmetric spanning subnetworks of Q n , whose diameter differs from that of Q n by only a small constant factor. When n=2k, the cube‐connected cycles network of dimension n is a vertex‐symmetric spanning subnetwork of Q n+lg n . By selectively adding hypercube links, we obtain a degree 6 vertex‐symmetric network with diameter 3n/2. We also introduce a vertex‐symmetric spanning subnetwork of Q n−1 with degree log2 n, diameter 3n/2−2, log2 n‐connectivity and maximal fault tolerance. This network hosts Q n−1 with dilation 2(log2 n)−1. This revised version was published online in June 2006 with corrections to the Cover Date.  相似文献

This paper investigates relationships between community characteristics and levels of knowledge and participation examined at both the individual and the community levels. This research extends the knowledge gap concept to a parallel phenomenon, the participation gap. Results from the Social Capital Benchmark Survey 2000 showed that community density, education, and cohesion were significant positive predictors of knowledge but less consistent predictors of participation at the individual level. At the community level, relationships were even stronger, though cohesion was associated with higher mean levels of participation and reduced participation gaps, whereas population density was associated with lower levels of participation and increased gaps.  相似文献

To mitigate the damaging impacts caused by interference and hidden terminals, it has been proposed to use orthogonal channels in wireless multi-hop mesh networks. We demonstrate however that even if these issues are completely eliminated with perfectly assigned channels, gross unfairness can still exist amongst competing flows which traverse multiple hops. We propose the use of 802.11e’s TXOP mechanism to restore/enforce fairness. The proposed scheme is simple, implementable using off-the-shelf devices and fully decentralised (requires no message passing).  相似文献

Cyanide-free Au plating baths, containing KAuCl4, triammonium citrate, and sodium sulfite, have been developed by the authors. The stability of these solutions depends on the order of mixing of the additives. The aim of this study was to employ turbidity measurements and cryogenic x-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS) to identify the role of the additives and the complexes responsible for solution stability or degradation. Electron microscopy was used to characterize any precipitation products generated in the solutions. It was shown that the long-term stability of the solutions is due to the role of citrate and sulfite as complexing agents.  相似文献

Paraunitary filter banks are important for several signal processing tasks, including coding, multichannel deconvolution and equalization, adaptive beamforming, and subspace processing. In this paper, we consider the task of adapting the impulse response of a multichannel paraunitary filter bank via gradient ascent or descent on a chosen cost function. Our methods are spatio-temporal generalizations of gradient techniques on the Grassmann and Stiefel manifolds, and we prove that they inherently maintain the paraunitariness of the multichannel adaptive system over time. We then discuss the necessary practical approximations, modifications, and simplifications of the methods for solving two relevant signal processing tasks: (i) spatio-temporal subspace analysis and (ii) multichannel blind deconvolution. Simulations indicate that our methods can provide simple, useful solutions to these important problems.  相似文献
