The effect of a number of thiophosphoryl compounds [viz., bis(isobutyl) thiophosphoryl di‐, tri‐, and tetrasulfides and bis(dicyclohexyl) thiophopsphoryl di‐, tri‐, and tetrasulfides] on natural rubber (NR)‐carboxylated nitrile rubber (XNBR) blend was studied. All these thiophosphoryl compounds are capable of forming interrubber links leading to covulcanized blends which exhibit a fair degree of synergism with respect to physical properties, the maximum being obtained at the 25% NR and 75% XNBR blend composition. This is an obvious claim that the blend under investigation is technologically compatible, having some degree of interrubber interaction which is enhanced in case of two‐stage vulcanization. The existence of interrubber interaction is judged by the swelling experiment. The blend morphology assessed by SEM micrographs corroborates the foregoing observations and accounts for the significant improvement in physical properties of the blend vulcanizates, particularly in two‐stage vulcanization. © 2002 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. The density; molar volume; thermal expansion coefficient; dissolution rate in water, HC1, and NaOH; glass transition and crystallization temperatures; and the absorption edge in the ultraviolet-visible and infrared were measured for PbO─BiO1.5─GaO1.5 glasses. The range of compositions investigated was x PbO (100 − (x + y) )BiO1.5. yGaO1.5 for x between 20 and 60 cat% and y of 20, 25, 30, and 35 cat%. The glass-forming tendency increased with increased GaO1.5 and decreased with increased PbO or BiO1.5. The compositional dependence of these properties was consistent with the weight, size, charge, and bond strength of the cations. The Ga3 + ions in these glasses are believed to act primarily as network-forming cations, whereas the majority of the Bi3+ and Pb2+ ions behave as network-modifying cations. It is suggested that a small friction of the lead ions are present as Pb4+. Depending upon melting conditions, these glasses ranged in color from brown to yellow. Various attempts, including containerless melting, were made to obtain colorless glasses, but no conditions were found which totally eliminated the color. The least color (pale yellow) was obtained when the glasses were melted in an air or nitrogen atmosphere in an alumina or gold crucible.  相似文献

In the present study, microparticles composed of polymethacrylic acid‐chitosan (PMAA‐CS) were prepared by a novel interionic gelation method. Free‐radical polymerization of methacrylic acid was carried out in the presence of CS, using a water‐soluble initiator, and application of these microparticles toward oral insulin delivery was evaluated. Microparticles obtained were characterized by scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and Fourier transform infrared (FTIR) studies. From SEM studies, it was observed that microparticles had an aggregated morphology with size ~20 μm, while FTIR confirmed the presence of ionic interaction between PMAA and CS chains. Protein loading was done by diffusion filling method, and from in vitro release study, it was observed that insulin‐loaded microparticles displayed a pH depended release profile at alkaline/acidic pH. Microparticles exhibited sustained release of insulin for 3–4 h at neutral pH, and enzyme linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA) proved that encapsulated protein maintained 100% biological activity at neutral pH. An epoxy matrix system modified by diglycidylether‐terminated polydimethylsiloxane (DGETPDMS) and bismaleimide (BMI) was developed. Epoxy systems modified with 4, 8, and 12% (by wt) of DGETPDMS were made using epoxy resin and DGETPDMS, with diaminodiphenylmethane as the curing agent. The DGETPDMS‐toughened epoxy systems were further modified with 4, 8, and 12% (by wt) of BMI, namely (N,N′‐bismaleimido‐4,4′‐diphenylmethane). DGETPDMS/BMI/epoxy matrices were characterized using differential scanning calorimetry, thermogravimetric analysis, and heat deflection temperature analysis. The matrices, in the form of castings, were characterized for their mechanical properties, viz. tensile strength, flexural strength, and impact test, as per ASTM methods. Mechanical studies indicate that the introduction of DGETPDMS into epoxy resin improves the impact strength, with reduction in tensile strength, flexural strength, and glass transition temperature, whereas the incorporation of BMI into epoxy resin enhances the mechanical and thermal properties according to its percentage content. However, the introduction of both DGETPDMS and BMI enhances the values of thermomechanical properties according to their percentage content. © 2006 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. Experimental results are presented on subcritical crack growth under sustained and cyclic loads in a HIPed Si3N4 at 1450°C and a hot–pressed Si3N4–10 vol% SiCw composite in the temperature range 1300°–1400°C. Static and cyclic crack growth rates are obtained from the threshold for the onset of stable fracture with different cyclic frequencies and load ratios. Fatigue crack growth rates for both the monolithic and SiCw-reinforced Si3N4 are generally higher than the crack growth velocities predicted using static crack growth data. However, the threshold stress intensity factor ranges for the onset of crack growth are always higher under cyclic loads than for sustained load fracture. Electron microscopy of crack wake contact and crack–tip damage illustrate the mechanisms of subcritical crack growth under static and cyclic loading. Critical experiments have been conducted systematically to measure the fracture initiation toughness at room temperature, after advancing the crack subcritically by a controlled amount under static or cyclic loads at elevated temperatures. Results of these experiments quantify the extent of degradation in crack–wake bridging due to cyclically varying loads. The effects of preexisting glass phase on elevated temperature fatigue and fracture are examined, and the creep crack growth behavior of Si3N4–based ceramics is compared with that of oxide-based ceramics.  相似文献

Image Completion plays a vital role in compressed sensing, machine learning, and computer vision applications. The Rank Minimization algorithms are used to perform the image completion. The major problem with rank minimization algorithms is the loss of information in the recovered image at high corruption ratios. To overcome this problem Lifting wavelet transform based Rank Minimization (LwRM), and Discrete wavelet transform based Rank Minimization (DwRM) methods are proposed, which can recover the image, if the corrupted observations are more than 80%. The evaluation of the proposed methods are accomplished by Full Reference Image Quality Assessment (FRIQA) and No Reference Image Quality Assessment (NR-IQA) metrics. The simulation results of proposed methods are superior to state-of-the-art methods.
