At two underground research laboratories situated at Horonobe and Mizunami, Japan, trace amounts of natural thorium and uranium dissolved in deep groundwater were investigated with the help of chemical pre-concentration method. The groundwater was sampled from underground boreholes under the geochemical condition of no atmospheric exposure, and the colloid contribution was checked by in situ two size-fractionated ultrafiltration systems. A rough decrease by half in the concentration after in situ filtration suggested the presence of natural colloids and suspended matter that were carriers of a portion of the elements. The Th and U concentrations in groundwater after 10 kDa filtration was evaluated as dissolved species, and was identified thermodynamically using existing hydrogeological and geochemical data, such as the mineral components in the groundwater at a given pH, ionic strength, concentration of co-existing ions, redox potential, and a hypothetical solubility-limiting solid phase. The crystalline solid phase of tetravalent thorium and uranium dioxides made the solubility very low compared with that of the amorphous phase.  相似文献

The results of research and development in the Japanese national project “Development for Advanced Thermoelectric Conversion Systems” are summarized, and the approaches to practical use of advanced thermoelectric modules and power generation systems are presented. The 5-year national project was successfully completed in March 2007. Three kinds of high- efficiency cascaded thermoelectric modules and two kinds of innovative Bi-Te thermoelectric modules were successfully developed. Heat cycle tests for three types of modules were also completed. Moreover, four types of advanced thermoelectric power generation systems were experimentally demonstrated for recovery of waste heat from the industrial and private sectors. In order to proceed further, thermoelectric power generation systems using practical heat sources were followed after installation of the developed modules. In parallel, various approaches for practical use by private companies, as well as plans for the next-phase project by the National Institute of Advanced Industrial Science and Technology (AIST) and the Engineering Advancement Association (ENAA), were also followed. The scenarios to proceed to the commercial phase of thermoelectric power generation are discussed on the basis of the results of the national project.  相似文献

Local vibrations of oxygen in Ge crystals grown from a melt fully covered by B2O3 were evaluated by Fourier-transform infrared spectroscopy. Ge single crystals containing oxygen were grown by the Czochralski method under various growth conditions. Oxygen concentrations in the crystals were determined to be in the range between 8.5 × 1015 and 5.5 × 1017 cm−3 from the infrared absorption at 855 cm−1 originating in local vibration of Ge-Oi-Ge quasi-molecules. Absorption peaks relating to GeOx, SiOx and Si-Oi-Si were not detected in the as-grown crystals. The calibration coefficient for determining oxygen concentration in Ge crystals from the absorption peak intensity at 1264 cm−1 was estimated to be 1.15 × 1019 cm−2.  相似文献

Thermoplastic resin and fiber-reinforced thermo-plastics (FRTPs) were used without post-cure treatment as “molded material.” For such materials, creep behavior and physical aging occur simultaneously. This study examined the creep behavior of polycarbonate (PC) and glass-fiber-reinforced polycarbonate (GFRPC) injection moldings, including the effect of physical aging and fiber content, and determined that the time–temperature superposition principle could be applied to the creep behavior for different fiber contents. The effects of physical aging on creep behavior were evaluated quantitatively on pure resin and with various fiber contents without heat treatment. We found that the effect of physical aging could be evaluated with the proposed factor, “aging shift rate.” To discuss the linearity of viscoelasticity in FRTPs, this study used two shift factors: time and modulus shift factors. The fiber content affected creep behavior by both retarding and restraining it through changing the elastic modulus. This was shown by generating a grand master curve of creep compliance, which included the effects of time, temperature, and fiber content. Using the grand master curve of creep compliance and shift factors, it was possible to estimate the creep deformation of molded materials under varying conditions and fiber contents. The estimated creep deformation gave a very good fit to the experimental creep deformation.  相似文献

A high‐performance ambipolar light‐emitting transistor (LET) that has high hole and electron mobilities and excellent luminescence characteristics is described. By using this device, a conspicuous light‐confined edge emission and current‐density‐dependent spectral evolution are observed. These findings will result in broader utilization of device potential and they provide a promising route for realizing electrically driven organic lasers.  相似文献

Flexizymes are tRNA acylation ribozymes that have been successfully used to facilitate genetic code reprogramming. They are capable of charging acid substrates onto various tRNAs and tRNA analogues. However, their minimal RNA substrate has not been investigated. Here we have designed fluorescently labeled short RNAs corresponding to the four, three, and two bases (4bRNA, 3bRNA, 2bRNA) at the tRNA 3′-end and explored the minimal RNA substrate of flexizymes, dFx and eFx. 3bRNA was the observed minimal RNA substrate of the flexizymes, but the efficiency of acylation of this short RNA was two to three times lower than that of 4bRNA. The efficiency of acylation of 4bRNA was comparable with that of the microhelix, a 22-base RNA conventionally used as a tRNA analogue for analyzing acylation efficiency. We also compared the efficiencies of acylation of the microhelix and 4bRNA with various acid substrates. Thanks to the short length of 4bRNA, its acyl-4bRNA products exhibited larger mobility shifts in gel electrophoresis than those exhibited by acyl-microhelix products with every substrate tested. This indicated that 4bRNA was an ideal RNA substrate for analyzing the efficiency of acylation by flexizymes.  相似文献
