The pH-responsive microgels (MGs) consisting of methacrylic acid-ethyl acrylate (MAA-EA), methacrylic acid-butyl methacrylate (MAA-BMA) or methacrylic acid-methyl methacrylate (MAA-MMA) crosslinked with di-allyl phthalate (DAP) were synthesized via emulsion polymerization. It was found that the energy required to extract a proton from MGs with higher glass-transition temperature (Tg) was greater than at a lower Tg. Procaine hydrochloride (PrHy) was used to study the release of a model hydrophobic drug from MGs with different Tgs. A drug selective electrode (DSE) was used to monitor the release as a function of pHs and Tgs. With increasing pH or decreasing Tg, the swelling of MGs was enhanced, leading to greater release of the drug. From the Berens and Hopfenberg model, the contributions of chain relaxation and diffusion processes during a release process were determined. Veneering ceramics should be strongly bonded to zirconia core in order to achieve successfully long-term clinical practice. Indeed, to pursue the high zirconia core–veneering ceramic bonding is still a concerned issue. In this regard, this study was to treat zirconia surface using a 3?wt% Si3N4 solution in 4?M NaOH and to investigate the effect of soaking time (5, 10, and 20 days) on the surface properties of zirconia and shear bond strength between zirconia and veneering ceramics. The residual veneering ceramics on zirconia surfaces and failure modes were also examined after fracture. The results showed that the phase composition of zirconia before and after surface modification was not changed. The elemental mapping and depth profiling consistently revealed the soaking-time-dependent Si content on the zirconia surface. The surface roughness of zirconia was significantly (P?<?0.05) increased with the increasing soaking time. When zirconia was treated for 10 days, the shear bond strength value of 27.4?MPa was significantly (P?<?0.05) higher than the control (18.6?MPa), associated with greater remaining amounts of veneering ceramics on the zirconia surface. The failure mode of the treated zirconia was almost the mixed failure. On the basis of the data, surface modification using Si3N4 in NaOH solution for zirconia core could be a simple and effective method for enhancing the veneering ceramic–zirconia bonding.  相似文献

Nanotechnology has been successfully implemented in many applications, such as nanoelectronics, nanobiomedicine, and nanodevices. However, this technology has rarely been applied to the oil and gas industry, especially in upstream exploration and production. The oil and gas industry needs to improve oil recovery and exploit unconventional resources. The cost of research and oil production is under immense pressure, and it is becoming more difficult to justify such investment when the crude oil price is weak and depressed. There is a widespread belief that nanotechnology may be exploited to develop novel nanomaterials with enhanced performance to combat these technological barriers. Increasing funding resources from governmental and global oil industry have been allocated to exploration, drilling, production, refining, and wastewater treatment. For example, nanosensors allow for precise measurement of reservoir conditions. Nanofluids prepared using functional nanomaterials may exhibit better performance in oil production processes, and nanocatalysts have improved the efficiency in oil refining and petrochemical processes. Nanomembranes enhance oil, water and gas separation, oil and gas purification, and the removal of impurities from wastewater. Functional nanomaterials can play an important role in the production of smart, reliable, and more durable equipment. In this review paper, we summarize the research progress and prospective applications of nanotechnology and nanomaterials in the oil and gas industry.  相似文献

Real-time frame rate is an important factor for practical deployment of computer vision systems. Field programmable gate array (FPGA) technology has been considered for many applications due to its parallel computing capability. FPGA implementations of computer vision algorithms normally involve buffering data on external memory devices, which could slow down the whole system. This paper proposes a buffering scheme suitable for implementing real-time vision-based systems on an FPGA that does not require external memory to buffer data. A stop sign detection system implemented on an FPGA employing the proposed buffering scheme is presented as an example system. This system is capable of processing over 200?fps at the frame size of 480?×?752 pixels.  相似文献

Abstract— Thin‐film transistors (TFTs) are field‐effect transistors that can be used to create large‐scale‐integrated (LSI) circuits. The combination of high‐performance TFTs and transfer technology of the TFTs has the potential to foster the rise of a new flexible microelectronics industry. This paper discusses the current status of flexible microelectronics, using a TFT fingerprint sensor (FPS) as an example. Technology used in active‐matrix displays can easily be applied to the TFT FPS. TFT technology should not be confined to the display industry; its use should be expanded into the semiconductor industry. In this paper, we examined mixing of various two-fluid flows in a silicon/glass microchannel based on the competition of dominant forces in a flow field, namely viscous/elastic, viscous/viscous and viscous/inertial. Experiments were performed over a range of Deborah and Reynolds numbers (0.36 < De < 278, 0.005 < Re < 24.2). Fluorescent dye and microshperes were used to characterize the flow kinematics. Employing abrupt convergent/divergent channel geometry, we achieved efficient mixing of two-dissimilar viscoelastic fluids at very low Reynolds number. Enhanced mixing was achieved through elastically induced flow instability at negligible diffusion and inertial effects (i.e. enormous Peclet and Elasticity numbers). This viscoelastic mixing was achieved over a short effective mixing length and relatively fast flow velocities.  相似文献

Cross-cultural psychologists assume that core cultural values define to a large extent what a culture is. Typically, core values are identified through an actual self-importance approach, in which core values are those that members of the culture as a group strongly endorse. In this article, the authors propose a perceived cultural importance approach to identifying core values, in which core values are values that members of the culture as a group generally believe to be important in the culture. In 5 studies, the authors examine the utility of the perceived cultural importance approach. Results consistently showed that, compared with values of high actual self-importance, values of high perceived cultural importance play a more important role in cultural identification.
