A total of 94 strains of Lactic acid bacteria (LAB), previously isolated from ethnic fermented vegetables and tender bamboo shoots of the Himalayas, were screened for functional properties such as acidification capacity, enzymatic activities, degradation of antinutritive factors and oligosaccharides, production of biogenic amines, hydrophobicity and adherence to mucus secreting HT29 MTX cells. Strong acidification and coagulation activities of LAB strains were recorded. Most of the LAB strains showed antimicrobial activities against the used indicator strains; however, only Lb. plantarum IB2 (BFE 948) isolated from inziangsang, a fermented leafy vegetable product, produced a bacteriocin against Staphylococcus aureus S1. LAB strains showed enzymatic activities and also degraded oligosaccharides. Almost all the strains of LAB were non-producers of biogenic amines except few strains. Some strains of Lb. plantarum showed more than 70% hydrophobicity. Adherence to the mucus secreting HT29 MTX cells was also shown by seven strains indicating their probiotic nature.  相似文献

The representation and management of product lifecycle information is critical to any manufacturing organization. Different modeling languages are used at different lifecycle stages, for example STEP’s EXPRESS may be used at a detailed design stage, while UML may be used for initial design stages. It is necessary to consolidate product information created using these different languages to build a coherent knowledge base. In this paper, we present an approach to enable the translation of STEP schema and its instances to Ontology Web Language (OWL). This gives a model–which we call OntoSTEP–that can easily be integrated with any OWL ontologies to create a semantically rich model. As an example, we combine geometry information represented in STEP with non-geometry information, such as function and behavior, represented using the NIST’s Core Product Model (CPM). A plug-in for Protégé is developed to automate the different steps of the translation. As additional benefits, reasoning, inference procedures, and queries can be performed on enriched legacy CAD models. We describe the rules for the translation from EXPRESS to OWL, and illustrate the benefits of OWL translation with an example. We will also describe how these mapping rules can be implemented through meta-model based transformations, which can be used to map other languages to OWL.  相似文献

A laboratory study was conducted to determine the effects of back disability status on endurance time and perceived discomfort during trunk flexion. Eighty participants (40 with chronic or recurrent low back pain (CRLBP), 40 pain-free) were tested. The trunk was flexed to 15 degrees, 30 degrees, 45 degrees and 60 degrees under three conditions: 1) continuous static flexion; 2) cyclical flexion with 20% rest; and 3) cyclical flexion with 40% rest. Each condition was performed for up to 600 s or until the participant reached his/her pain tolerance limit. Dependent variables included time to distracting discomfort (TDD), total endurance time (TET) and perceived discomfort. For continuous exertions, CRLBP participants had lower TDD (p < 0.001), lower TET (p < 0.001) and greater discomfort (p < 0.001) compared to pain-free controls. In both groups, TDD and TET decreased and perceived discomfort increased as the flexion angle increased. For intermittent exertions, CRLBP participants reported greater discomfort than pain-free participants (p < 0.001). Increasing rest from 20 to 40% reduced discomfort in CRLBP participants, but produced no consistent benefit in pain-free participants. To accommodate persons with CRLBP, consideration should be given to reducing both the magnitude (angle) and duration of trunk flexion required by their jobs.  相似文献

Investigations on nanomedicine involve conventional two dimensional (2D) imaging techniques for observing the nanoparticle internalization at a single time point where various phases of internalization can be overlooked. In contrast, three dimensional (3D) imaging of fluorescent nanoparticles with anticancer potential can be used for obtaining the time course of cellular retention of particles, and cells can be followed for days. This article demonstrates the application of laser scanning confocal microscopy to quantify poly-l -lysine coated fluorescent ZnO nanoparticle retention and reactive oxygen species (ROS) generation using volumetric imaging. Synthesis of these particles allows monitoring of ROS formation, internalization, and cytotoxicity using the same imaging platform that offers an advantage over measurement using various instruments. PLL-coated ZnO particles' ability to induce a significant reduction in cell-viability suggests its potential as a therapeutic agent. The proposed framework opens up a new avenue for investigating mechanistic aspects of ZnO adsorption and the evaluation of therapeutic efficiency.  相似文献

Nanorods of Y0.95Eu0.05PO4@CePO4 (Y0.95Eu0.05PO4 phase was nucleated first and then a CePO4 phase was nucleated) and CePO4@Y0.95Eu0.05PO4 (CePO4 phase was nucleated first and then Y0.95Eu0.05PO4 phase was nucleated) were prepared at a relatively low temperature of 140 °C in ethylene glycol medium. Based on XRD, TEM and Raman studies it has been inferred that Y0.95Eu0.05PO4@CePO4 sample consists of a mixture of bigger (length around 800-1000 nm and width around of 80-100 nm) and smaller (length around 70-100 nm and width around 10-20 nm) nanorods, having monoclinic CePO4 and tetragonal YPO4 structure, whereas CePO4@Y0.95Eu0.05PO4 sample consists of mainly small nanorods having a single phase CePO4 structure. From the detailed luminescence studies it has been established that there exists significant incorporation of Y3+/Eu3+ ions in the CePO4 phase in CePO4@Y0.95Eu0.5PO4 sample. This has been attributed to the cation exchange taking place between Ce3+ ions in CePO4 host and Eu3+ and Y3+ ions in solution during the synthesis stage. Unlike this, such an exchange is not possible for Y0.95Eu0.05PO4@CePO4 sample synthesized under identical conditions due to the higher solubility product (Ksp) value of YPO4 compared to CePO4. Incorporation of Eu3+ in the CePO4 lattice of CePO4@Y0.95Eu0.5PO4 sample is confirmed by the significant reduction in the lifetime of 5D0 level of Eu3+ and the luminescence intensity from Eu3+, arising due to the electron transfer between the Ce3+/Ce4+ and Eu3+/Eu2+ species. These results are further supported by the non-radiative decay rates and quantum yields calculated from the emission spectrum.  相似文献

Synthetic approaches/methodologies can change the properties of nanoparticles significantly. In this study, the photocatalytic property of self (Ti3+) doped TiO2 nanoparticles was modified by synthesizing through different routes. Solvothermal (T-Sol), sonochemical (T-Son) and polyol (T-Pol) methods were employed to prepare TiO2 nanoparticles and the photocatalytic activities of these samples were compared with that of the sample prepared by precipitation using ammonia solution (T-Ppt). All samples had particle size below 30 nm except T-Son, where small nanoparticles existed as large spherical agglomerates with size around 500 nm. Surface area and porosity measurements of these different TiO2 samples showed a significant dependency on the synthesis method. UV–Visible absorption spectra showed the onset of absorption at ∼440 nm for all samples due to the presence of defect levels originating from anion vacancies. Photocatalytic activity for hydrogen generation decreased in the order T-Sol > T-Son > T-Pol > T-Ppt and the observed activity is correlated with their physical properties such as surface area and crystallinity. The hydrogen yield was highly enhanced by the addition of Pd metal as co-catalyst on the surface of TiO2 photocatalysts. Present experiments clearly demonstrate the importance of synthesis route to improve the photocatalytic activity of TiO2.  相似文献

In this paper, a generic model for the synthesis of tolerances for manufactured parts is presented. The model uses a method of transforming traditional tolerance specifications (as defined in ASME Y14.5M) to a generalized coordinate system (hereinafter referred to as deviation space). Small displacement torsors (SDTs) have been used for representing the deviations. The tolerance synthesis method is formulated as a constrained nonlinear optimization process. Three different types of constraints have been considered for the optimization process: 1) representation of assemblability; 2) mapping of tolerance specification to deviations; and 3) functional requirements. A new deviation-based cost of manufacturing model has been proposed. A working module of the scheme has been implemented and the process has been elaborated with two examples. The possibility of extension of the model and scope for further generalization have been discussed. Note to Practitioners-This paper presents an optimization method for finding tolerance values for different features of an assembly of manufactured parts. Determination of different types of tolerances and their exact values for critical features of any part has been an ad-hoc process; it has been mostly experience-based till recent time. In this paper, efforts have been made to establish a strong mathematically oriented method for synthesis of tolerances. The procedure attempts to minimize cost of manufacturing while the functionality and assemblability are satisfied. It is a generalized method and could be applied for designing rigid manufacture parts. For practical usage, this method should be integrated with three-dimensional computer-aided design packages as a tolerance synthesis module for integrated tolerance design.  相似文献
