We present a computational investigation into the line shapes of peaks in conductance histograms, finding that they possess high information content. In particular, the histogram peak associated with conduction through a single molecule elucidates the electron transport mechanism and is generally well-described by beta distributions. A statistical analysis of the peak corresponding to conduction through two molecules reveals the presence of cooperative effects between the molecules and also provides insight into the underlying conduction channels. This work describes tools for extracting additional interpretations from experimental statistical data, helping us better understand electron transport processes.  相似文献

We demonstrate reduction in surface recombination by integrating silicon (Si) nanocrystal layer on single crystalline Si solar cell. Si nanocrystals (NCs) are grown by electrochemical etching of (1 0 0) oriented p-type Si wafer. The substructures on the substrate are extracted and passivated it with hydrogen and 1-heptene molecules. Colloidal dispersion of Si NCs was spin casted on solar cell at room temperature. Apart from the IV curve depicting the efficiency of solar cell, diffuse reflectance, measurement of short circuit current as a function of wavelength and current–voltage characteristics of solar cell were recorded with and without NCs layer. The analysis showed 9.4% increase in Si solar cell efficiency due to the surface passivation effect offered by Si NCs. Measurements of surface recombination time confirms the improved passivation by NCs.  相似文献

The dissimilatory metal reducing bacterium (DMRB) Shewanella oneidensis MR-1 reduces ionic mercury (Hg[II]) to elemental mercury (Hg[0]) by an activity not related to the MerA mercuric reductase. In S. oneidensis, this activity is constitutive and effective at Hg(II) concentrations too low to induce mer operon functions. Reduction of Hg(II) by MR-1 required the presence of electron donors and electron acceptors. Reduction occurred with oxygen or fumarate, but had the highest rate when ferric oxyhydroxide was used as a terminal electron acceptor. Geobacter sulfurreducens PCA and Geobacter metallireducens GS-15 reduced Hg(II) to Hg(0) with activity comparable to MR-1; however, neither the DMRB Anaeromyxobacter dehalogenans 2CP-C nor the nitrate reducer Pseudomonas stutzeri OX-1 reduced Hg(II) during growth. This discovery of constitutive mercury reduction among anaerobes has implications to the mobilization of mercury and production of methylmercury in anoxic environments.  相似文献

Ethanol‐soluble (ES) lecithin mainly contains phosphatidylcholine (PC). The incorporation of caprylic acid into PC using immobilized phospholipase A2 (PLA2) and lipase was investigated. The Rhizomucor meihei lipase and the porcine pancreatic PLA2 were immobilized on the hydrophobic resin Diaion HP‐20 and the modification was carried out in hexane as solvent. HPTLC with densitometer technique was successfully used for monitoring the production of structured phospholipids (PL) (ML‐type PC, MM‐type PC, and lysophosphatidylcholine; L: long‐chain fatty acid, M: medium‐chain fatty acid). The various parameters such as the effects of reaction temperature, enzyme loading, and the effect of molar proportion of substrate were studied in order to determine the optimum reaction conditions for the acidolysis reaction. The optimal operating conditions for the PLA2‐catalyzed reaction were obtained as 50°C temperature, 50% (wt/wt of substrate) enzyme loading, and a 1:12 molar proportion of PC/caprylic acid. For the lipase‐catalyzed reaction, the optimized temperature was the same as for PLA2, but the enzyme loading and molar proportion were slightly lower, i.e., 40 % w/w of substrate and 1:9 PC/caprylic acid, respectively. The effects of these parameters on the production of structured PL were compared. Under these optimal conditions, the ML‐type PC content was higher in the PLA2‐catalyzed reaction, i.e., 45.29 mol%, and in the lipase‐catalyzed reaction it was 38.74 mol%.  相似文献

With the recent development of high-acquisition-speed pixelated detectors, 4D scanning transmission electron microscopy (4D-STEM) is becoming routinely available in high-resolution electron microscopy. 4D-STEM acts as a “universal” method that provides local information on materials that is challenging to extract from bulk techniques. It extends conventional STEM imaging to include super-resolution techniques and to provide quantitative phase-based information, such as differential phase contrast, ptychography, or Bloch wave phase retrieval. However, an important missing factor is the chemical and bonding information provided by electron energy loss spectroscopy (EELS). 4D-STEM and EELS cannot currently be acquired simultaneously due to the overlapping geometry of the detectors. Here, the feasibility of modifying the detector geometry to overcome this challenge for bulk specimens is demonstrated, and the use of a partial or defective detector for ptycholgaphic structural imaging is explored. Results show that structural information beyond the diffraction-limit and chemical information from the material can be extracted together, resulting in simultaneous multi-modal measurements, adding the additional dimensions of spectral information to 4D datasets.  相似文献

Medical Resonance Imaging (MRI) is a noninvasive, nonradioactive, and meticulous diagnostic modality capability in the field of medical imaging. However, the efficiency of MR image reconstruction is affected by its bulky image sets and slow process implementation. Therefore, to obtain a high-quality reconstructed image we presented a sparse aware noise removal technique that uses convolution neural network (SANR_CNN) for eliminating noise and improving the MR image reconstruction quality. The proposed noise removal or denoising technique adopts a fast CNN architecture that aids in training larger datasets with improved quality, and SARN algorithm is used for building a dictionary learning technique for denoising large image datasets. The proposed SANR_CNN model also preserves the details and edges in the image during reconstruction. An experiment was conducted to analyze the performance of SANR_CNN in a few existing models in regard with peak signal-to-noise ratio (PSNR), structural similarity index (SSIM), and mean squared error (MSE). The proposed SANR_CNN model achieved higher PSNR, SSIM, and MSE efficiency than the other noise removal techniques. The proposed architecture also provides transmission of these denoised medical images through secured IoT architecture.  相似文献

Hi-Nicalon/SiC minicomposite specimens containing three oxide interphase layers (amorphous SiO2, monoclinic ZrO2, and amorphous SiO2) were prepared by chemical vapor deposition. The minicomposites exhibited graceful composite failure behavior with reasonable load-carrying capability in room-temperature tensile tests. Much of the composite behavior and load-carrying capability was retained even after matrix precracking and subsequent oxidation in air at 960°C for 10 h. In both the as-prepared and oxidized specimens, crack deflection and fiber pull-out occurred preferentially within the multilayered interphase region. The potential merits and uncertainties associated with this multilayered oxide interphase approach were discussed in the context of designing environmentally durable interfaces for ceramic-matrix composites.  相似文献

The reaction kinetics of a rubber-modified epoxy formulation cured by microwave or thermal energy were investigated. Two phenomenological models were developed to predict the time and temperature dependence of the conversion for the neat and the modified systems. Good agreement was observed between the kinetic models and experimental results generated by chromatographic and calorimetric techniques. The effect of temperature on the electrochemical synthesis of poly(o-anisidine) (POA) thin films has been investigated. The POA films were synthesized electrochemically under cyclic voltammetric conditions in aqueous solutions of H2SO4 at various temperatures between -6°C and 40°C. These films were characterized by cyclic voltammetry (CV), UV–visible spectroscopy and scanning electron microscopy (SEM). It has been found that the rate of polymer formation depends on the synthesis temperature and is highest at 15°C. The optical absorption spectra indicate a major peak at about 800nm and a shoulder at about 440nm independent of the synthesis temperature. The peak at about 800nm corresponds to the presence of the emeraldine salt phase of POA, while the latter may be attributed to the formation of radical cations. The absorbance and width of the peak at about 800nm is observed to increase at low synthesis temperatures. The POA film synthesized at 15°C shows predominant formation of the emeraldine salt phase of POA. The surface morphology as revealed by SEM, is observed to depend on the synthesis temperature, and is caused by different rates of polymer formation at different temperatures. © 1998 SCI.  相似文献

Past research has established an associative deficit hypothesis (e.g., M. Naveh-Benjamin, 2000) that attributes part of older adults' poor episodic memory performance to their difficulty in creating and retrieving cohesive episodes. Here, the authors evaluate the degree to which this deficit can be reduced by older adults' use of associative strategies. Young and older adults learned word pairs under either intentional-learning instructions or instructions eliciting associative strategies either at encoding or both at encoding and at retrieval, and they then took tests on their memory for both the components and the associations. Results replicated the associative deficit of older adults under intentional-learning instructions. In addition, they showed that instructions to use appropriate associative strategies during either encoding or, even more so, during encoding and retrieval resulted in a significant decrease in the associative deficit.
