Conclusions The method of yarn texturizing with an air stream is universal: it permits one to obtain looped yarns both from natural fibers, and also from thermoplastic or nonthermoplastic man-made yarns. Air-cooled barrier-discharge excilamps with flat exit windows are described. The results of investigations into radiation of lamps on KrCl* (λ ~ 222 nm), Cl2(λ ~ 258 nm), and KrBr (λ ~ 207 nm) molecules are given. The obtained average radiation powers in the UV spectrum region behind a flat window are 10.2, 1.55, and 4.15 W, respectively. The excilamps are intended to uniformly irradiate various objects with areas of up to 200 cm2 in air and various gaseous media. Conclusions Texturization of yarns by the press-chamber method leads to the formation of twists of the flat zig-zag type on smooth yarns. Because of the receipt of crimp, a yarn is obtained with an increased bulk and improved heat-insulating, and hygienic properties.After texturizing, appreciable changes take place in the structure and morphology of elementary filaments.
