The authors have prepared a blood compatible and highly permselective hemodialysis membrane composed of polyether segmented nylon. This block copolymer was synthesized by polycondensation of bis-3-aminopropyl-poly(tetramethylene oxide) (PTMO) and poly(imino-1,3-bismethyl-cyclohexyl-iminoisophtharoyl) (NyBl) prepolymer obtained by polycondensation of 1,3-bis(aminomethyl)cyclohexane (B) and isophthalic acid (I). The molecular weight (MW) calculated from the number of end-groups was 16,000-21,000. In vitro blood compatibility was evaluated in terms of platelet adhesion onto the surface. PTMO-NyBl surfaces showed excellent platelet adhesion preventing properties. The PTMO-NyBl hollow fiber membrane was obtained by a dry-wet spinning process. The membranes had higher permeability coefficients for macromolecules ranging from MW 10,000 to 20,000 than polysulfone hollow fiber membrane (PS membrane), and had acceptably low albumin permeability for use as a dialysis membrane. The ex vivo blood compatibilities of PTMO-NyBl membrane and PS membrane were investigated by extracorporeal circulation in a pig model. The PTMO-NyBl membrane gave excellent results when assessing hemodialysis leukopenia, oxidative burst, and free platelet count decrease.  相似文献

Viscosities of γ-Fe2O3 dispersions in epoxy resin, phenol resin, and polyvinyl butyral solutions are measured at shear rate D from 19.2 to 384 sec?1. Volume fraction of γ-Fe2O3 in these dispersions ranges from about 0.002 to 0.03. The concentration dependence of relative viscosity η/ηs is closely represented by the Mooney equation. From this equation, intrinsic viscosity [η] of suspensions is found to decrease from 46.1 at D = 19.2sec?1 to 14 at D = 384 sec?1 for epoxy resin solution. The high [η] value indicates the existence of flocs containing immobilized liquid. By increasing the shear rate, the average floc size is reduced to point where at an infinite shear rate, only small clusters or possibly particles remain. Of the three polymers, the lowest [η] value is obtained in the dispersion of the phenol resin solution.  相似文献

In this article, the two-dimensional distributions of cells from the cross section of some flexible polyurethane foams were cleared, and the three-dimensional distributions of cells based on Saltykov's theory were estimated further. As a result, it was found that a mean of the two-dimensional distributions of cells was a good linear relation with a mean of the three-dimensional distributions of cells, and it was confirmed that cell structure of the foams which should have been analyzed in the three-dimensional distributions was evaluated by analysis of the two-dimensional distributions fully. It was also found that not only cell number but also cell distribution was necessary in the evaluation of flexible polyurethane foams, and cell diameter was closely related to the sound absorption coefficient in polyester-based flexible polyurethane foams. © 1997 John Wiley & Sons, Inc. The three-dimensional (3D) spatial structure of an iron oxide containing alkyd paint specimen has been investigated by serial block-face scanning electron microscopy (SBFSEM). The resultant images of the 3D structure clearly present the spatial distribution of the iron oxide pigment particles in the coating film and reveal the extent of aggregation of the particles in the matrix material. More than one-half of the iron oxide particles (in volume) had aggregated to form clusters of considerable sizes that follow a Gaussian spacing distribution in the measured coating film. Over 80% of the clusters have dimensions between 1.5 μm and 3.5 μm; also, pores are evident at the centres of clusters whose sizes are larger than 2 μm. The work demonstrated here reveals a new approach to fully characterize the 3D spatial structure of coatings and to explore their correlations with the performance of the materials.  相似文献

Several attempts have been made to grasp three‐dimensional (3D) ground shape from a 3D point cloud generated by aerial vehicles, which help fast situation recognition. However, identifying such objects on the ground from a 3D point cloud, which consists of 3D coordinates and color information, is not straightforward due to the gap between the low‐level point information (coordinates and colors) and high‐level context information (objects). In this paper, we propose a ground object recognition and segmentation method from a geo‐referenced point cloud. Basically, we rely on some existing tools to generate such a point cloud from aerial images, and our method tries to give semantics to each set of clustered points. In our method, firstly, such points that correspond to the ground surface are removed using the elevation data from the Geographical Survey Institute. Next, we apply an interpoint distance‐based clustering and color‐based clustering. Then, such clusters that share some regions are merged to correctly identify a cluster that corresponds to a single object. We have evaluated our method in several experiments in real fields. We have confirmed that our method can remove the ground surface within 20 cm error and can recognize most of the objects.  相似文献

Abstract— A complete poly‐Si thin‐film transistor (TFT) on plastic process has been optimized to produce TFT arrays for active‐matrix displays. We present a detailed study of the poly‐Si crystallization process, a mechanism for protecting the plastic substrate from the pulsed laser used to crystallize the silicon, and a high‐performance low‐temperature gate dielectric film. Poly‐Si grain sizes and the corresponding TFT performance have been measured for a range of excimer‐laser crystallization fluences near the full‐melt threshold, allowing optimization of the laser‐crystallization process. A Bragg reflector stack has been embedded in the plastic coating layers; its effectiveness in protecting the plastic from the excimer‐laser pulse is described. Finally, we describe a plasma pre‐oxidation step, which has been added to a low‐temperature (<100°C) gate dielectric film deposition process to dramatically improve the electrical properties of the gate dielectric. These processes have been integrated into a complete poly‐Si TFT on plastic fabrication process, which produces PMOS TFTs with mobilities of 66 cm2 /V‐sec, threshold voltages of ?3.5 V, and off currents of approximately 1 pA per micron of gate width.  相似文献

ABSTRACT

For the first time, we have fabricated insect-derived cell sheets by using temperature-responsive culture surfaces having a phase-transition temperature below 25°C. We prepared the temperature-responsive cell culture surfaces (tissue culture polystyrene, TCPS) by grafting a copolymeric gel consisting of hydrophobic N-tert-butylacrylamide (tBAAm) and N-isopropylacrylamide (IPAAm) units. First, to characterize the hydrophilic and hydrophobic properties of the copolymeric gel-grafted surfaces, static water contact angles of each surface were measured at various temperatures. By increasing the amount of tBAAm in the grafted copolymeric gel, the transition temperature of the gel was shifted to lower temperatures. At 25°C, the grafted copolymeric gel was dehydrated, and the insect-derived cells (AeAl2 cells) adhered on all the copolymeric gel-grafted surfaces. At 20°C, AeAl2 cells cannot adhere on the P(IPAAm-1.62tBAAm)-TCPS surface (the initial molar ratio of IPAAm and tBAAm (tBAAm?=?1.62 mol%)) better than on other surfaces (TCPS and tBAAm?=?4.88, 8.17 mol%). These two findings implied that the lower critical solution temperature of the copolymeric gel-grafted-TCPS existed from 20°C to 25°C. The laminin-coated P(IPAAm-1.62tBAAm)-TCPS surface showed temperature-dependent cell attachment and detachment properties, while AeAl2 cells were not detached from the extracellular matrix uncoated P(IPAAm-1.62tBAAm)-TCPS surface. AeAl2 cells and insect muscle cells were harvested as the respective sheets.  相似文献

Acoustic emission (AE) source wave analysis is a new NDE technique for the investigation of dynamic fracture process. We applied this technique to the quantitative characterization of crack sources in ductile fracture. Using two samples of ASTM A533B steel with different sulfur content, acoustic emissions during fracture toughness tests were detected, located, and analyzed. The detected AE signals were classified into two types according to the analyzed source waveforms. One was a signal due to microcracking at the MnS inclusion, and the other was a signal due to coalescence of the voids. The results of the source wave analysis showed that microcracking at the inclusions was due to Mode I type tension crack with sizes of 10–30 µm, and the coalescence of the voids was due to tension shear mixed cracks with sizes of 60–100 µm. It was confirmed that this technique is very effective for the quantitative evaluation of microcrackings and for the detection of the nucleation and growth of cracks.  相似文献

An analytical electron microscope with a field emission electron gun has been developed in order to improve the function of material identification, in order to obtain higher resolution of images, sharper electron diffraction patterns, and purer x-ray spectra with no effects of contamination from smaller areas than in the conventional instruments so far utilized. The performance capabilities of this newly developed analytical electron microscope, the Model H-600FE, have been examined and found to be very useful for the material characterization of nanometer-size areas. Various attributes of the microscope became apparent with reference to the results of different studies. These include better convergence of the electron beam (demonstrated by examination of an MoS2 thin film), high-resolution transmission electron microscopy (using a gold film), high-resolution scanning electron microscopy (with a carbon film containing nanometer-size holes), high-angle resolution electron diffraction (of an iron carbide film), and precision x-ray analysis of nanometer-size areas (using a pyroxene crystal and a Cu---Zn---Al shape memory alloy).  相似文献
