The effect of diamond burnishing on structure and properties of detonation-gas coatings on gas-turbine engine parts

A diamond burnishing procedure for detonation coatings made from powder alloys PKKhN-15 and VKNA of parts made of steel Kh12NMBFSh is selected and substantiated, which ensures a favorable combination of the surface layer structure and properties.     

An efficient technology for production of faience articles using calcium-containing waste

The results of the study of the sintering specifics of ceramic mixtures using highly calciferous waste as a material component are discussed. It is found that for a certain ratio of alkaline and alkaline-earth components, the ceramic crock structure is represented by calcium silicates and aluminosilicates which ensure good service properties of the product.     

Lead-Free Boron-Aluminosilicate Enamels for Ornamental Copper Articles

A lead-free low-melting boron-aluminate glass matrix is developed. Some of its properties are studied: the average adhesion index, the TCLE, the crystallization capacity. Tinted enamels are obtained on the basis of this glass matrix and used to decorate ornamental copper articles.     

Development of a glass matrix composition for single-layer white low-melting enamel for steel

Based on the R₂O - B₂O₃ - Al₂O₃ - SiO₂ -TiO₂ - P₂O₅ system, the regions of formation of low-melting glass matrices are determined. The relationship between the opacifying capacity of the synthesized glasses and the quantities of SiO₂, B₂O₃, and R₂O and their ratios is determined. A glass matrix composition is identified which is used as a white enamel to protect and to impart a decorative outlook to steel facing sheets.     

Use of the Flux-Gate Meter for Optimizing the Local Laser Treatment of Electrotechnical Steel

The paper is devoted to investigation of the possibility of active testing of magnetic characteristics in a traveling band of electrotechnical anisotropic steel in the process of local laser treatment.     

Analysis of the properties of a linear system using the method of artificial basis matrices

Formulas relating elements of the method in adjacent basis matrices are used to solve a system of linear algebraic equations and to represent analytically the general solutions to the corresponding system of linear algebraic inequalities for a nondegenerate constraint matrix. Creative destruction of computing systems: analysis and modeling

The paper analyzes the problem of rational replacement of computing systems. Such systems, especially high-performance computers, are expensive, but quickly become obsolete. A system analysis of the replacement problem is provided and the relevant modeling problems are identified and studied. The obtained results give certain rules for calculating the optimal lifetime of computing systems, which are based on the given rates of technological change in the related computer industry. Two simulation examples estimate the optimal lifetime of PCs and high-performance computers in the current US economy. The results are in good agreement with other recommendations and existing business practice.     

Physicochemical processes of formation of one-layer silicate coatings on steel

The principles of physicochemical processes of the technology of one-layer enameling are described from the modern point of view. The traditional and new (developed by the authors) techniques of preparing metals for one-layer enameling are considered in detail. The phase composition and the nanostructure of the contact layer of the metal-coating system for different metals are investigated as a function of the chemical composition of the coating. The mechanism of formation of coatings on metals is analyzed.
