An adaptive, real-time, traffic monitoring system 总被引:1,自引:0,他引:1
In this paper we describe a computer vision-based traffic monitoring system able to detect individual vehicles in real-time.
Our fully integrated system first obtains the main traffic variables: counting, speed and category; and then computes a complete
set of statistical variables. The objective is to investigate some of the difficulties impeding existing traffic systems to
achieve balanced accuracy in every condition; i.e. day and night transitions, shadows, heavy vehicles, occlusions, slow traffic
and congestions. The system we present is autonomous, works for long periods of time without human intervention and adapts
automatically to the changing environmental conditions. Several innovations, designed to deal with the above circumstances,
are proposed in the paper: an integrated calibration and image rectification step, differentiated methods for day and night,
an adaptive segmentation algorithm, a multistage shadow detection method and special considerations for heavy vehicle identification
and treatment of slow traffic. A specific methodology has been developed to benchmark the accuracy of the different methods

In the industrial environment, specifically in the automotive industry, an accurate prediction of execution times for each
production task is very useful in order to plan the work and to optimize the human, technical and material resources. In this
paper, we applied several regression neural networks to predict the execution times of the tasks in the production of parts
for plastic injection molds. These molds are used to make a variety of car components in automotive industry. The prediction
is based on the geometric features of the mold parts to be made. The accuracy of the predicted times is high enough to be
used as a tool for the design stage of the mold parts, e.g. guiding the design process in order to get the lowest production

Distributed supervisory control systems often rely on complex and centralized plans to cope with a variety of unanticipated
situations. Replanning requires practitioners to forgo standard procedures in favor of making simple plans without simplifying,
managing task coupling, and anticipating team needs to provide decentralized and elaborate plans. This article proposes a
plan classification scheme to study what features of plans facilitate or hinder adaptation and a framework to examine how
features of plans influence the cognitive processes of replanning. The plan features have been assigned to the categories
of plan complexity, coupling, and control. Plans are task networks sharing similar features of complexity and coupling to
technical systems. The proposed framework sets out to explore how plan features influence the processes of recognizing plan
disruptions, reviewing challenges and different team stances, repairing plans to resolve new risks, and reacting by coordinating
team efforts to execute plans. The framework draws on the Extended Control Model (ECOM) to integrate the four processes of
replanning into a set of control loops. The benefits of this framework are illustrated in the context of operator training

Iterative Learning Control (ILC) is a control strategy to improve the performance of digital batch repetitive processes. Due to its digital implementation, discrete time ILC approaches do not guarantee good intersample behavior. In fact, common discrete time ILC approaches may deteriorate the intersample behavior, thereby reducing the performance of the sampled-data system. In this paper, a generally applicable multirate ILC approach is presented that enables to balance the at-sample performance and the intersample behavior. Furthermore, key theoretical issues regarding multirate systems are addressed, including the time-varying nature of the multirate ILC setup. In this study, an optimization of the airfoil of a sailplane is carried out by a recently developed multi-objective genetic algorithm based on microevolution, containing crowding, range adaptation, knowledge-based reinitialization and ε-dominance. Its efficiency was tested on a set of test problems. The choice of the best interpolation algorithm of data gathered at a finite number of locations has been a persistently relevant topic. Typical papers take a single data set, a single set of data points, and a handful of algorithms. The process considers a subset I of the data points as known, builds the interpolant with each algorithm, applies it to the points of another subset C, and evaluates the MAE (mean absolute error), the RMSE (root mean square error), or any other metric over such points. The less these statistics are, the better the algorithm is, so a deterministic ranking between methods (without confidence level) can be derived based upon it. Ties between methods are usually not considered. In this article a complete protocol is proposed in order to build, with a modest additional effort, a ranking with a confidence level. To illustrate this point, the results of two tests are shown. In the first one, a simple Monte Carlo experiment was devised using irregularly distributed points taken from a reference DEM (digital elevation model) in raster format. Different metrics led to different rankings, suggesting that the choice of the metric to define the ‘best interpolation algorithm’ would need a trade-off. The second experiment used mean daily radiation data from an international interpolation comparison exercise and RMSE as the metric of success. Only five simple interpolation methods were employed. The ranking using this protocol anticipated correctly the first and second place, afterwards confirmed employing independent control data. 相似文献

In this paper we describe a new model suitable for optimization problems with explicitly unknown optimization functions using user’s preferences. The model addresses an ability to learn not known optimization functions thus perform also a learning of user’s preferences. The model consists of neural networks using fuzzy membership functions and interactive evolutionary algorithms in the process of learning. Fuzzy membership functions of basic human values and their priorities were prepared by utilizing Schwartz’s model of basic human values (achievement, benevolence, conformity, hedonism, power, security, self-direction, stimulation, tradition and universalism). The quality of the model was tested on “the most attractive font face problem” and it was evaluated using the following criteria: a speed of optimal parameters computation, a precision of achieved results, Wilcoxon signed rank test and a similarity of letter images.
