We present an extension of the random walker segmentation to images with uncertain gray values. Such gray-value uncertainty may result from noise or other imaging artifacts or more general from measurement errors in the image acquisition process. The purpose is to quantify the influence of the gray-value uncertainty onto the result when using random walker segmentation. In random walker segmentation, a weighted graph is built from the image, where the edge weights depend on the image gradient between the pixels. For given seed regions, the probability is evaluated for a random walk on this graph starting at a pixel to end in one of the seed regions. Here, we extend this method to images with uncertain gray values. To this end, we consider the pixel values to be random variables (RVs), thus introducing the notion of stochastic images. We end up with stochastic weights for the graph in random walker segmentation and a stochastic partial differential equation (PDE) that has to be solved. We discretize the RVs and the stochastic PDE by the method of generalized polynomial chaos, combining the recent developments in numerical methods for the discretization of stochastic PDEs and an interactive segmentation algorithm. The resulting algorithm allows for the detection of regions where the segmentation result is highly influenced by the uncertain pixel values. Thus, it gives a reliability estimate for the resulting segmentation, and it furthermore allows determining the probability density function of the segmented object volume. 相似文献

A multifactorial design, including (1) percent residual oxygen, (2) oxygen transmission rate of packaging film (OTR), (3) product to headspace volume ratio, (4) illuminance level and (5) nitrite level during curing, was established to investigate factors affecting light-induced oxidative discoloration of cured ham (packaged in modified atmosphere of 20% carbon dioxide and balanced with nitrogen) during 14 days of chill storage. Univariate statistical analysis found significant effects of all main factors on the redness (tristimulus a-value) of the ham. Subsequently, Response Surface Modelling of the data further proved that the interactions between packaging and storage conditions are important when optimising colour stability. The measured content of oxygen in the headspace was incorporated in the model and the interaction between measured oxygen content in the headspace and the product to headspace volume ratio was found to be crucial. Thus, it is not enough to keep the headspace oxygen level low, if the headspace volume at the same time is large, there will still be sufficient oxygen for colour deteriorating processes to take place. 相似文献

Indigenous L-lactate dehydrogenase (LDH) in milk originates mainly from somatic cells, leucocytes and invading microorganisms. Its activity may be used for detection of mastitis. However, existing methods to measure LDH activity in milk both need pretreatment of the samples and still suffer from methodological problems. The present paper describes a fast, reliable method for determination of LDH activity, suitable for milk samples. The method is based on fluorometric determination of enzyme kinetics when L-lactate is converted to pyruvate. The assay uses raw milk without pretreatment and the method is easily adjustable to large-scale analyses on micro assay plates. Detection is based on (straight line) linear response within 4-7 min of initiation of the reaction. A substrate concentration of 35 mM in the reaction mixture was considered to be optimal for the assay. Intra plate assay precision was approx. 6% (CV) and the inter plate precision approx. 10%. Known inhibitors of LDH activity (oxidative direction), i.e., oxalic acid, oxamate, and pyruvate, were tested in different concentrations in order to verify the specificity of the response. The detailed kinetics of samples analysed indicated that the isoenzyme composition may have differed between milk samples, and that this composition may have been altered in high activity samples. 相似文献

The efficiency of columns for fluid separation can be increased by the application of sandwich packings. During the operation, different load‐dependent regimes with peculiar separation performance arise. In order to account for the effects of the individual flow regimes in a single model, both separation performance measurements and tomographic imaging are applied. A rate‐based model is presented, which takes the heterogeneous regimes in sandwich packings into account by means of appropriate correlations. Mislabeling of olive oil with respect to its geographical origin is a frequently encountered fraud. Although according to European Regulation (EU) No 29/2012 it is mandatory to declare the geographical origin of an olive oil on the label, no generally accepted analytical method exists to verify this labeling. As Italy, Greece, and Spain are the main producing countries in the Mediterranean Area, the aim is to develop an analytical method that allows classification of these three origins and which can be reliably applied to routine samples. A protocol for the extraction and subsequent 1H‐NMR measurement of the polar fraction of olive oil is developed and applied to a large number of authentic reference samples. A classification model is developed which obtains 96% of correct classification during cross‐validation. The method is being routinely applied for testing commercial off‐the‐shelf olive oils, and its accuracy is continuously verified. Practical Applications: In addition to checking the geographical origin of an olive oil, the developed protocol allows to analyze the polar constituents of an olive oil in great detail with little effort, which should prove useful also for other applications, for example, quantitation of phenols or detection of admixtures with other vegetable oils. 相似文献
