A new model order reduction approach is proposed for parametric steady-state nonlinear fluid flows characterized by shocks and discontinuities whose spatial locations and orientations are strongly parameter dependent. In this method, solutions in the predictive regime are approximated using a linear superposition of parameter-dependent basis. The sought-after parametric reduced bases are obtained by transporting the snapshots in a spatially and parametrically dependent transport field. Key to the proposed approach is the observation that the transport fields are typically smooth and continuous, despite the solution themselves not being so. As a result, the transport fields can be accurately expressed using a low-order polynomial expansion. Similar to traditional projection-based model order reduction approaches, the proposed method is formulated mathematically as a residual minimization problem for the generalized coordinates. The proposed approach is also integrated with well-known hyper-reduction strategies to obtain significant computational speedups. The method is successfully applied to the reduction of a parametric one-dimensional flow in a converging-diverging nozzle, a parametric two-dimensional supersonic flow over a forward-facing step, and a parametric two-dimensional jet diffusion flame in a combustor.  相似文献

Pulmonary infections are the most common cause of death globally. However, the development of mucosal vaccines that provide protective immunity against respiratory pathogens are limited. In contrast to needle-based vaccines, efficient vaccines that are delivered via noninvasive mucosal routes (such as via the lungs and nasal passage) produce both antigen-specific local mucosal IgA and systemic IgG protective antibodies. One major challenge in the development of pulmonary vaccines using subunit antigens however, is the production of optimal immune responses. Subunit vaccines therefore rely upon use of adjuvants to potentiate immune responses. While the lack of suitable mucosal adjuvants has hindered progress in the development of efficient pulmonary vaccines, particle-based systems can provide an alternative approach for the safe and efficient delivery of subunit vaccines. In particular, the rational engineering of particulate vaccines with optimal physicochemical characteristics can produce long-term protective immunity. These protect antigens against enzymatic degradation, target antigen presenting cells and initiate optimal humoral and cellular immunity. This review will discuss our current understanding of pulmonary immunology and developments in fabricating particle characteristics that may evoke potent and durable pulmonary immunity.  相似文献

Unidirectional (UD) hybrid laminates based on glass fibers (GF) and high performance polyethylene fibers (PEF) were prepared with partially polymerized methyl methacrylate (MMA) at room temperature followed by heating at 55°C (well below the softening point of PEF) for 2 h. Izod impact strength of the composites was then measured. An interesting observation of the study was the change in impact strength that was largely dependent on the position of GF and PEF ply/plies present within the hybrid laminates. When the ply/plies of PEF were at the impacted surface, the impact strength showed a higher value than that of the case when GF ply/plies were at the impacted surface of the hybrid laminates. © 1996 John Wiley & Sons, Inc.  相似文献

A new alternating double aquo-bridged and single cyano-bridged polymeric complex {[Ba2(phen)4(H2O)6Fe(CN)6]·Cl·2(phen)·3H2O}n (1) (phen = 1,10-phenanthroline) has been synthesized and structurally characterized. In the crystal structure the two centrosymmetric [Ba2(phen)4(H2O)6] units are bridged through two trans CN groups of [Fe(CN)6]3− ion, which results in the formation of a zig-zag polymeric chain. In each [Ba2(phen)4(H2O)6] unit, the two Ba centers are joined by double aquo bridges. Both the Ba atoms are 9-coordinated with distorted mono-capped square antiprismatic geometry. An elaborate hydrogen bonding system holds the parallel polymeric chains together.  相似文献

The objectives of this study were to determine the phenolic and anthocyanin contents in black soybean Mallika and Cikuray variety seed coat extract and to examine antioxidant activity of extract against DPPH radical and LDL oxidation. Black soybean seed coat of Mallika (M) and Cikuray (C) was extracted using methanol-1%HCl. The phenolic and anthocyanin contents were determined with Folin–Ciocalteu and pH differential methods, respectively. Individual anthocyanidins were identified with HPLCdiode array detector, and antioxidant activity was examined, using DPPH and TBARS assay with LDL as the oxidation substrate. BHT and rutin were used as antioxidant references. The phenolic content in M and C were 8.15 ± 0.23 and 6.46 ± 0.11 g GAE/100 g, respectively. The anthocyanin contents were 11.36 ± 0.12 and 1.45 ± 0.13 g/100 g, respectively. Cyanidin, delphinidin, and pelargonidin were found as individual anthocyanidins. The optimum DPPH radical scavenging capacity (%) of M and C were 92.78% and 91.50%, respectively, BHT and rutin were 77.0% and 91.94%, respectively. The optimum inhibition of TBARS formation from M and C were 37.10 and 30.37 nmol MDA equivalents/g LDL protein, respectively, and rutin were 30.10 nmol MDA equivalents/g LDL protein, respectively. These results suggest that black soybean seed coat has high levels of phenolic and anthocyanin, and also demonstrated considerable antioxidant activity of black soybean seed coat.  相似文献

Dye-sensitized solar cells (DSSCs) were fabricated by using well-crystallized ZnO nanocombs directly grown onto the fluorine-doped tin oxide (FTO) via noncatalytic thermal evaporation process. The thin films of as-grown ZnO nanocombs were used as photoanode materials to fabricate the DSSCs, which exhibited an overall light to electricity conversion efficiency of 0.68% with a fill factor of 34%, short-circuit current of 3.14 mA/cm2, and open-circuit voltage of 0.671 V. To the best of our knowledge, this is first report in which thin film of ZnO nanocombs was used as photoanode materials to fabricate the DSSCs.  相似文献

Various Lactobacillus species possess antidiarrheal properties due to their probiotic effects and could be utilized in the form of fermented foods for the treatment of diarrheal disease. Diarrhea is the condition of having 3 or more loose or watery bowel movements per day. This disease is a global problem causing several million deaths each year, and the major victims are children. So its prevention and control is crucial. For the treatment of diarrheal disease, antibiotics and oral rehydration solutions are used, but these therapies are not always effective to reduce the duration and frequency of diarrhea and of increase consistency. Recent studies have demonstrated the effectiveness of the natural mode (fermented food) of disease management because of its easy availability, low cost, and efficacy against diarrhea.  相似文献

To ensure a sustainable energy future for Pakistan, it is necessary that the energy sector be accorded a high priority. Pakistan remains predominantly reliant on fossil fuels as its primary source of energy. Efforts to reduce reliance on fossil fuels through increasing the share of renewable energy in the energy supply systems have met with little success so far. The barriers to development of renewable energy can be broadly classified as policy and regulatory barriers, institutional barriers, fiscal and financial barriers, market-related barriers, technological barriers and information and social barriers. In this article, an effort has been made to identify the barriers that limit the use of renewable energy technologies in general and with specific reference to Pakistan, and outline the measures to address these barriers.  相似文献
