This paper summarises materials from various sources and the author’s research on the biology of the Siberian sturgeon in the Ob basin. The paper evaluates the significance of various parts of this river system for habitation and formation of sturgeon stock. It has been possible to distinguish semi-diadromous sturgeon and four local (indigenous) schools, according to the difference in morphological characteristics and peculiarities of the Ob basin ecology. Semi-diadromous sturgeon spends most of their life in the lower reach of the Ob and in the Gulf of Ob and migrates to spawn to the upper Ob. These spawning migrations cover a distance of 2500?km or more. Spawners from local schools do not make such long spawning migrations. It is noted that at least two isolated schools have been formed higher up the dams of the hydroelectric power stations on the Ob and the Irtysh. Today, the stock of semi-diadromous sturgeon is extremely low, but this school used to be the most abundant. The population of young fish in the middle-Ob school is of high density. But it has an extremely high mortality rate. The Chulym school of Ob sturgeon is in the best condition. Its population increases from the waters of two sturgeon and nelma reserves.  相似文献

An appropriate dispersion of carbon nanotubes (CNTs) is a prerequisite for their use in improving the mechanical properties of cement-based composites. In this study two types of carbon nanotubes (CNTs) having different morphologies were investigated. To obtain a uniform distribution of CNTs in the cement matrix, the effect of sonication on the deagglomeration of CNTs in combination with anionic and nonionic surfactants in varying concentrations was quantitatively investigated when preparing aqueous dispersions of CNTs for the subsequent use in cement paste. The relationships between the quality of CNT-dispersion on the one hand and the sonication time and surfactant concentration on the other were determined using UV–vis spectroscopy. After dispersion, nitrogen-doped CNTs were found mostly as individual, broken CNTs. In contrast, after the treatment of the mixture of single-, double-, and multi-walled CNTs, a net-like distribution was observed where destruction of the CNTs due to sonication could not be distinguished. Modification of the cement pastes with dispersions of CNTs led to a pronounced increase, up to 40%, in compressive strength and, in some cases, to a moderate increase in tensile strength under high strain-rate loading. However, no significant improvement in strength was observed for quasi-static loading. Microscopic examination revealed that the bridging of the C–S–H phases differed depending on the type of CNT. This explained, at least partly, the observed effects of CNT-addition on the mechanical properties of hardened cement pastes.  相似文献

Magnetoelectric composite materials are promising candidates for highly sensitive magnetic-field sensors. However, the composites showing the highest reported magnetoelectric coefficients require the presence of external d.c. magnetic bias fields, which is detrimental to their use as sensitive high-resolution magnetic-field sensors. Here, we report magnetoelectric composite materials that instead rely on intrinsic magnetic fields arising from exchange bias in the device. Thin-film magnetoelectric two-two composites were fabricated by magnetron sputtering on silicon-cantilever substrates. The composites consist of piezoelectric AlN and multilayers with the sequence Ta/Cu/Mn(70)Ir(30)/Fe(50)Co(50) or Ta/Cu/Mn(70)Ir(30)/Fe(70.2)Co(7.8)Si(12)B(10) serving as the magnetostrictive component. The thickness of the ferromagnetic layers and angle dependency of the exchange bias field are used to adjust the shift of the magnetostriction curve in such a way that the maximum piezomagnetic coefficient occurs at zero magnetic bias field. These self-biased composites show high sensitivity to a.c. magnetic fields with a maximum magnetoelectric coefficient of 96 V cm(-1) Oe(-1) at mechanical resonance.  相似文献

In present work structural properties and aging of thermoplastic starches prepared by plasticization of cornstarch with urea, glycerol and their mixtures are studied using solid-state 1H NMR and 13C NMR spectroscopy and WAXS measurements. Broad line 1H NMR spectra reveal phase separation of plasticizers during aging of the samples with the same or higher relative amount of glycerol than the amount of urea. Glycerol in the TPS samples induces motion of starch chain segments, the mobility of which depends on the relative amount of glycerol. At the scale of nm, formation of B-type crystallites in the samples containing glycerol and also of single-helical crystallinity in all samples is observed during one-year aging through cross-polarization magic angle spinning 13C NMR spectra. Urea, when used as the sole plasticizer, prevents the ordering of starch chains in B-type crystallites. WAXS diffractograms show that regular crystals do not form in any of the samples.  相似文献

Water solubility is one of the key features of potential therapeutic agents. In order to enhance the low water solubility of the parent 5-butyl-4-(4-methoxyphenyl)-6-phenylpyrimidin-2-amine, a potent inhibitor of prostaglandin E2 (PGE2) production, we synthesized and evaluated a new series of derivatives in which the butyl group at the C5 position of the pyrimidine ring was replaced with a less lipophilic substituent, preferably with a hydrophilic aliphatic moiety. Except for the 5-cyanopyrimidine derivative, all target compounds exhibited increased (2.7–87-fold) water solubility relative to the parent compound. Although nontoxic in mouse peritoneal cells, the prepared compounds were either equipotent or weaker inhibitors of PGE2 production than the parent compound. The most promising compound from the series was found to be the 5-(2,5,8,11-tetraoxadodecyl)pyrimidine derivative (with three polyethylene glycol units at the C5 position), which exhibited 32-fold higher water solubility and only slightly weaker inhibitory activity (22 % of remaining PGE2 production) compared with the parent compound (15 % of remaining PGE2 production).  相似文献

Haptoglobin (Hp) is a blood plasma glycoprotein that plays a critical role in tissue protection and the prevention of oxidative damage. Haptoglobin is an acute-phase protein, its concentration in plasma changes in pathology, and the test for its concentration is part of normal clinical practice. Haptoglobin is a conservative protein and is the subject of research as a potential biomarker of many diseases, including malignant neoplasms. The Human Hp gene is polymorphic and controls the synthesis of three major phenotypes—homozygous Hp1-1 and Hp2-2, and heterozygous Hp2-1, determined by a combination of allelic variants that are inherited. Numerous studies indicate that the phenotype of haptoglobin can be used to judge the individual’s predisposition to various diseases. In addition, Hp undergoes various post-translational modifications (PTMs). Glioblastoma multiform (GBM) is the most malignant primary brain tumor. In our study, we have analyzed the state of Hp proteoforms in plasma and cells using 1D (SDS-PAGE) and 2D electrophoresis (2DE) with the following mass spectrometry (LC ES-MS/MS) or Western blotting. We found that the levels of α2- and β-chain proteoforms are up-regulated in the plasma of GBM patients. An unprocessed form of Hp2-2 (PreHp2-2, zonulin) with unusual biophysical parameters (pI/Mw) was also detected in the plasma of GBM patients and glioblastoma cells. Altogether, this data shows the possibility to use proteoforms of haptoglobin as a potential GBM-specific plasma biomarker.  相似文献

Understanding the interaction of ions with organic receptors in confined space is of fundamental importance and could advance nanoelectronics and sensor design. In this work, metal ion complexation of conformationally varied thiacalix[4]monocrowns bearing lower-rim hydroxy (type I), dodecyloxy (type II), or methoxy (type III) fragments was evaluated. At the liquid–liquid interface, alkylated thiacalixcrowns-5(6) selectively extract alkali metal ions according to the induced-fit concept, whereas crown-4 receptors were ineffective due to distortion of the crown-ether cavity, as predicted by quantum-chemical calculations. In type-I ligands, alkali-metal ion extraction by the solvent-accessible crown-ether cavity was prevented, which resulted in competitive Ag+ extraction by sulfide bridges. Surprisingly, amphiphilic type-I/II conjugates moderately extracted other metal ions, which was attributed to calixarene aggregation in salt aqueous phase and supported by dynamic light scattering measurements. Cation–monolayer interactions at the air–water interface were monitored by surface pressure/potential measurements and UV/visible reflection–absorption spectroscopy. Topology-varied selectivity was evidenced, towards Sr2+ (crown-4), K+ (crown-5), and Ag+ (crown-6) in type-I receptors and Na+ (crown-4), Ca2+ (crown-5), and Cs+ (crown-6) in type-II receptors. Nuclear magnetic resonance and electronic absorption spectroscopy revealed exocyclic coordination in type-I ligands and cation–π interactions in type-II ligands.  相似文献

Transportation of low molecular weight cargoes into the plant vacuole represents an essential plant cell function. Several lines of evidence indicate that autophagy-related direct endoplasmic reticulum (ER) to vacuole (and also, apoplast) transport plays here a more general role than expected. This route is regulated by autophagy proteins, including recently discovered involvement of the exocyst subcomplex. Traffic from ER into the vacuole bypassing Golgi apparatus (GA) acts not only in stress-related cytoplasm recycling or detoxification, but also in developmentally-regulated biopolymer and secondary metabolite import into the vacuole (or apoplast), exemplified by storage proteins and anthocyanins. We propose that this pathway is relevant also for some phytohormones’ (e.g., auxin, abscisic acid (ABA) and salicylic acid (SA)) degradation. We hypothesize that SA is not only an autophagy inducer, but also a cargo for autophagy-related ER to vacuole membrane container delivery and catabolism. ER membrane localized enzymes will potentially enhance the area of biosynthetic reactive surfaces, and also, abundant ER localized membrane importers (e.g., ABC transporters) will internalize specific molecular species into the autophagosome biogenesis domain of ER. Such active ER domains may create tubular invaginations of tonoplast into the vacuoles as import intermediates. Packaging of cargos into the ER-derived autophagosome-like containers might be an important mechanism of vacuole and exosome biogenesis and cytoplasm protection against toxic metabolites. A new perspective on metabolic transformations intimately linked to membrane trafficking in plants is emerging.  相似文献

Predicting the consequences of actions is fundamental for skilled motor behavior. We investigated whether motor prediction is influenced by the fact that some movements are easier to perform and stabilize than others. Twelve subjects performed a bimanual rhythmical task either symmetrically or asymmetrically (the latter being more difficult and less stable) while oscillating in each hand an object attached to an elastic cord. Motor prediction was monitored through the adequacy of anticipatory grip force adjustments with respect to the elastic resisting force. Results showed less adequate predictive control during asymmetrical movements (compared with symmetrical ones). Furthermore, switching between modes of coordination induced even larger alterations. An interesting finding was that grip force control did not always stabilize around the expected value after voluntary transition. We conclude that motor prediction is affected by the degree of coordination between the upper limbs and by phase transitions and is prone to carryover effects. Acetylcholinesterase (AChE) that has been covalently inhibited by organophosphate compounds (OPCs), such as nerve agents and pesticides, has traditionally been reactivated by using nucleophilic oximes. There is, however, a clearly recognized need for new classes of compounds with the ability to reactivate inhibited AChE with improved in vivo efficacy. Here we describe our discovery of new functional groups—Mannich phenols and general bases—that are capable of reactivating OPC‐inhibited AChE more efficiently than standard oximes and we describe the cooperative mechanism by which these functionalities are delivered to the active site. These discoveries, supported by preliminary in vivo results and crystallographic data, significantly broaden the available approaches for reactivation of AChE.  相似文献
