Abstract— The manufacture of large‐area arrays of thin‐film transistors on polymer substrates using roll‐to‐roll (R2R) processes exclusively is being developed. Self‐aligned imprint lithography (SAIL) enables the patterning and alignment of submicron‐sized features on meter‐scaled flexible substrates in the R2R environment. SAIL solves the problem of precision interlayer registry on a moving web by encoding all the geometry information required for the entire patterning steps into a monolithic three‐dimensional imprint with discrete thickness modulation. The pre‐aligned multiple‐step mask structure maintains its alignment regardless of subsequent substrate distortion. Challenges are encountered in relation to the novel nature of using flexible substrates and building toolsets for the R2R processing. In this paper, methods of the SAIL process, the resulting active‐matrix backplanes, the trajectory of SAIL process development, and the remaining issues for production are presented.  相似文献

PURPOSE: This report summarizes the authors' 3-year experience with excimer laser photorefractive keratectomy on 240 eyes of 161 patients. METHODS: With constant laser emission parameters, nitrogen flow across the cornea was used on 79 eyes, whereas 161 eyes had no nitrogen flow. Of the 240 eyes, 74 were operated on without suction ring fixation. Postoperative pain management included patching and oral analgesics in 77 eyes and the use of topical diclofenac or ketorolac and a therapeutic soft contact lens in 163 eyes. Follow-up ranged from 1 month (206 eyes) to 36 months (10 eyes). RESULTS: At 3 months, 88% (144 eyes) had uncorrected visual acuity of 20/40 or better; 86% (151 eyes) had corrected visual acuity to within +/- 1 diopter of intended correction, and 10% (17 eyes) lost two or more lines of best-corrected visual acuity. At 12 months, 89% (122 eyes) achieved uncorrected visual acuity of 20/40 or better, 79% (115 eyes) had corrected visual acuity to within +/- 1 diopter of intended correction, and 4% (6 eyes) lost two or more lines of best-corrected visual acuity. At 24 months, 92% (44 of 48 eyes) had uncorrected visual acuity of 20/40 or better, 86% (44 of 51 eyes) had corrected visual acuity to within +/- 1 diopter of intended correction, and 5% (2 eyes) lost two or more lines of best-corrected visual acuity. At 36 months, 90% (9 eyes) achieved an uncorrected visual acuity of 20/40 or better, 90% (9 eyes) had corrected visual acuity to within +/- 1 diopter of intended correction, and no eyes lost two or more lines of best-corrected visual acuity. CONCLUSIONS: The results obtained with one procedure are within accepted standards of accuracy for refractive surgery, and there is the potential for refinement of the final optical correction. Complication rates are low and are not vision threatening. They included increased intraocular pressure, epithelial "map dot" changes, and recurrent corneal erosion syndrome, "central islands," and others. Photorefractive keratectomy appears to be a safe procedure over the short and medium term.  相似文献

Population ageing is, in the first instance, a demographic phenomenon; although its consequences go far beyond demography. But the future trends of ageing are not yet known and many of the consequences of ageing will depend on the future speed and extent of ageing. Here we summarize what is already known and what is not yet known about future ageing trends in different parts of the world. We do this through the means of new probabilistic population forecasts. The section ‘New Regional and Global Probabilistic Population Forecasts’ presents the results of those forecasts. They confirm the earlier finding (Lutz et al., Nature, 412(6846), 543–545, 2001a) that it is highly likely that the world’s population growth will come to the end during this century. The following four sections present results for proportions of populations 60+, old age dependency ratios, proportions 80+ and average ages. In the section ‘New Measures of Ageing’, we analyse a new measure of ageing that takes life expectancy changes into account.  相似文献

The parasitoid waspAphytis melinus uses a kairomone from the cover of its scale host, California red scale (Aonidiella aurantii), as an oviposition stimulant. The kairomone was isolated from extracts of scale covers, and identified asO-caffeoyltyrosine by a combination of spectroscopic methods. The kairomone was synthesized, and the synthetic compound was determined to be as active as the chemical isolated from scale covers.  相似文献

Over the last number of years, multiple research projects have begun to create augmented reality (AR) applications that use augmented reality agents, or AuRAs, as their principle interaction and development paradigm. This paper aims to address this new and distinct field of AuRAs by asking three questions: why should AuRAs be researched, when are they a useful paradigm, and how can they be developed? The first question explores the motivation behind applying AuRAs to AR. Specifically, it investigates whether AuRAs are purely an interaction paradigm, or whether they can also serve as a development paradigm, by outlining in which circumstances it is appropriate for a project to use AuRAs and where their addition would only add unnecessary complexity. A navigational experiment, performed in simulated AR, explores the second question of when AuRAs can be a useful concept in AR applications. Results from this experiment suggest that an embodied virtual character allows for faster navigation along a shorter route than directional arrows or marking the target with an AR “bubble”. An exploration of the limitations of the simulated AR environment illuminates how faithfully the experiment recreated the environmental challenges that AuRAs can help to address. Finally, the question of how to develop such applications is addressed through the introduction of the agent factory augmented reality toolkit that allows the rapid prototyping of such applications. Results from a usability study on the toolkit are also presented.  相似文献

Blends of a styrene–maleic anhydride copolymer (SMA) with polyethlene (PE) or polyethylene melt grafted with tertiary (PE-g-DMAEMA) or secondary (PE-g-tBAEMA) amino methacrylate were prepared by blending in a batch melt mixer. The morphology of these blends at various compositions was examined with a scanning electron microscope (SEM) and related to their tensile and impact properties. The SMA/PE blends are found to have the typical coarse morphology of incompatible blends and poor mechanical properties, while their reactive conterparts, SMA/PE-g-DMAEMA or SMA/PE-g-tBAEMA blends, show finer morphology and modestly improved tensile and impact strength. This was attributed to chemical interaction of the acidic anhydride and the basic amino groups. The greater improvement in morphology for SMA/PE-g-tBAEMA than for SMA/PE-g-DMAEMA suggests a stronger interaction between the secondary amino groups and the anhydride groups, possibly with the formation of SMA-g-tBAEMA-g-PE graft polymer through amide covalent bonds. The amide formation appears to occur at the interfacial region in the blends and is too little to be detected by Fourier transform infrared (FTIR) spectra. However, differential scanning calorimeters (DSC) and the viscosity measurements indicate crystallinity and molecular weight changes for the SMA/PE-g-tBAEMA blends, supporting an argument for the formation of SMA-g-tBAEMA-g-PE grafts at the phase interface.  相似文献

The purpose of this study was to examine the effects of two purified isomers of CLA (c9,t11-CLA and t10,c12-CLA) on the weights and FA compositions of hepatic TG, phospholipids, cholesterol esters, and FFA. Eight-week-old female mice (n=6/group) were fed either a control diet or diets supplemented with 0.5% c9,t11-CLA or t10, c12-CLA isomers for 8 wk. Weights of liver total lipids and those of individual lipid fractions. did not differ between the control and the c9,t11-CLA groups. Livers from animals fed the t10,c12-CLA diet contained four times more lipids than those of the control group; this was mainly due to an increase in the TG fractions (fivefold), but cholesterol (threefold), cholesterol esters (threefold), and FFA (twofold) were also significantly increased. Although c9,t11-CLA did not significantly alter the weights of liver lipids when compared with the control group, its intake was associated with significant reductions in the weight percentage (wt% of total FAME) of 18∶1n−9 and 18∶1n−7 in the TG fraction and with significant increases in the weight percentage of 18∶2n−6 in the TG, cholesterol ester, and phospholipid fractions. on the other hand, t10,c12-CLA intake was linked with a significant increase in the weight percentage of 18∶1n−9 and a decrease in that of 18∶2n−6 in all lipid fractions. These changes may be the result of alterations in the activity of Δ9-desaturase (stearoyl CoA desaturase) and the enzymes involved in the metabolism of 18∶2n−6. Thus, the two isomers differed not only in their effects on the weights of total liver lipids and lipid fractions but also on the FA profile of the lipid fractions.  相似文献

A comprehensive simulation tool is developed to describe and optimize the cooling cycle in the melt‐casting of Composition B. It comprises a multiphysics approach tackling heat, mass, and momentum transfers involved in the casting process. The highly nonlinear solidification step and development of thermal stresses are included. A V & V (Verification and Validation) approach was adopted whereby the model was verified against a benchmark problem and tested with a simple cylindrical geometry. Then, the approach was applied to a 105 mm caliber artillery shell and simulation results were in close agreement with experimental measurements. The model is equipped with a CZM function to account for adhesion between the solidified cast and the mold. During cooling, separation is possible and the size and location of gaps, depending on shrinkage and adhesion, are successfully emulated. The importance of controlled solidification is pointed out, especially regarding steep temperature gradients within the shell. © 2016 American Institute of Chemical Engineers AIChE J, 62: 3797–3811, 2016  相似文献

Electret monolith filters have the advantage of low pressure drop and high filtration efficiency. In such filters, the filtration of submicron aerosol particles occurs as air passes through millions of microchannels. This article investigates the flow and filtration mechanisms in a representative rectangular microchannel of an electret monolith filter. An improved incompressible lattice Boltzmann method with Bhatnagar–Gross–Krook (traditionally shortened as LBGK) and lattice velocity D3Q15 model is employed to simulate no-slip and slip flows in the rectangular microchannels of a monolith filter. We considered mono-disperse submicron particles and one-way coupling (particle motion was affected by the flow, but the presence of particles did not affect the flow). Based on flow computations, the effects of key dimensionless parameters (Reynolds number, Knudsen number, Stokes number and the dimensionless length of the channel) on the total capture efficiency of mono-disperse submicron particles were investigated. Our results indicate that the optimal monolith filter should be characterized by a Knudsen number between 0.022 and 0.044, and that the dimensionless length of the channel should be between 4 and 8.
