A reconstruction process featuring full parameterization of the three dimensional, time-harmonic equations of linear elasticity is developed and reconstructed property images are presented from simulation-based investigation. While interesting in its own right through the potential for increased adaptability of these reconstructive elastic imaging techniques, this study also presents a set of analysis tools used to study the poor convergence behavior found in the case of tissue like conditions (i.e. nearly incompressible materials). The choice of elastic properties for imaging in elastography research remains an open question at this point; the use of the stability and sensitivity-based analytical methods described here will help to predict and understand the value and reliability of different parameterizations of elasticity imaging. Additionally, though results indicate significant work needs to be done to achieve effective multiparameter reconstructive imaging, the methods detailed here offer the promise of increased flexibility and sophistication in elastographic imaging techniques.  相似文献

Schizochytrium sp. is an algae-like microorganism utilized for commercial production of docosahexaenoic acid (DHA)-rich oil and dried microalgae for use as a source of DHA in foods, feeds, and nutritional supplements. Electron microscopic analysis of whole cells of Schizochytrium sp. employing sample preparation by high-pressure freeze substitution suggests the presence of secondary and tertiary semicrystalline structures of triacylglycerols within the oil bodies in Schizochytrium sp. A fine secondary structure consisting of alternating light- and dark-staining bands was observed inside the oil bodies. Dark bands were 29 +/- 1 A in width, and light bands were 22 +/- 1 A in width. The tertiary (three-dimensional) structure may be a multilayered ribbon-like structure which appears coiled and interlaced within the oil body. In freeze-fracture photomicrographs, Schizochytrium oil bodies exhibited fracture planes with terraces averaging 52 +/- 7 A in height which could correspond to the combined width of two halves of two light bands and one dark band observed in the high-pressure freeze substitution photomicrographs. The results suggest that triacylglycerols within Schizochytrium sp. oil bodies may be organized in a triple chain-length structure. High-pressure freeze substitution electron micrographs of two other highly unsaturated oil-producing species of microalgae, Thraustochytrium sp. and Isochrysis galbana, also revealed this fine structure, whereas microalgae containing a higher proportion of saturated oil did not. The results suggest that the staining pattern is not an artifact of preparation and that the triple chain-length conformation of triacylglycerols in Schizochytrium sp. oil bodies may be caused by the unique fatty acid composition of the triacylglycerols.  相似文献

Radiation therapy has important applications in curative, adjuvant, and palliative therapy for a wide range of malignant conditions. Evidence of radiation therapy may be seen on radiologic images obtained subsequent to therapy. Bone growth disturbances may be observed in the immature axial or appendicular skeleton. Complications in the mature skeleton include osteoradionecrosis, pathologic fracture, and radiation-induced neoplasms. Radiologic features of mandibular osteoradionecrosis include ill-defined cortical destruction without sequestration. In osteoradionecrosis of the ribs, clavicle, scapula, and humerus, radiography may demonstrate osteopenia, disorganization and coarsening of trabecular architecture, and cortical irregularity; computed tomography more clearly depicts subtle fractures, alterations in bone architecture, and dystrophic soft-tissue calcification. In osteoradionecrosis of the spine, hematopoietic cellular elements of the spinal marrow are replaced with fat, which has high signal intensity on T1-weighted magnetic resonance images and intermediate signal intensity on T2-weighted images. Radiation-induced changes in the pelvis include osteopenia, increased bone density, and widening and irregularity of the sacroiliac joints. Radiation-induced osteochondromas are radiographically identical to those that arise spontaneously. Radiographic findings in radiation-induced sarcoma demonstrate an aggressive pattern of bone destruction. Awareness of the varied radiographic manifestations of radiation-induced changes in bone and correlation with clinical features and the radiation field will usually allow distinction of these changes from those associated with other pathologic conditions.  相似文献

The three-dimensional structures of five mutants of toxic shock syndrome toxin-1 (TSST-1) have been determined. These mutations are in the long central alpha helix and are useful in mapping portions of TSST-1 involved in superantigenicity and lethality. The T128A, H135A, Q139K, and I140T mutations appear to reduce superantigenicity by altering the properties of the T-cell receptor interaction surface. The Q136A mutation is at a largely buried site and causes a dramatic change in the conformation of the beta7-beta9 loop which covers the back of the central alpha helix. As this mutation has the unique ability to reduce the toxin's lethality in rabbits while retaining its superantigenicity, it raises the possibility that this rear loop mediates the ability of TSST-1 to induce lethality and suggests a route for producing nonlethal toxins for therapeutic development.  相似文献

Several large data sets have been integrated and utilized for rapid evaluation on a reconnaissance scale for the Montrose 1 × 2° Quadrangle, Colorado. The data sets include Landsat imagery, hydrogeochemical and stream sediment analyses, airborne geophysical data, known mineral occurrences, and a geologic map. All data sets were registered to a 179 × 119 rectangular grid and projected onto Universal Transverse Mercator coordinates. A grid resolution of 1 km was used. All possible combinations of three, for most data sets, were examined for general geologic correlations by utilizing a color microfilm output. In addition, gray-level pictures of statistical output, for example factor analysis, have been employed to aid evaluations. Examples for the data sets dysprosium-calcium, lead-copper-zinc, and equivalent uranium-uranium in water-uranium in sediment are described with respect to geologic applications, base-metal regimes, and geochemical associations.  相似文献
