Through the use of acyclic graphs, an efficient methodology has been developed for the synthesis of the kinematic structure of geared kinematic chains with any number of links. First, a systematic approach is proposed for the enumeration of N-vertex acyclic graphs. For each N-vertex acyclic graph, all the N-vertex geared graphs are generated by adding (NF — 1) geared edges to the acyclic graphs, eliminating geared graphs which violate the fundamental rules, and non-isomorphic geared graphs are obtained by comparing the structural codes. Finally, the catalog of the graphs of one-degree-of-freedom (DOF) geared kinematic chains with N links are synthesized from the catalog of acyclic graphs with N vertices. As a result, the structural synthesis of one-DOF geared kinematic chains with up to eight links has been successfully constructed.  相似文献

Results are presented of lateral force measurements using the atomic force microscope (AFM) and the surface forces apparatus (SFA). Two different probes are used in the AFM measurements; a sharp silicon nitride tip (radius R20 nm) and a glass ball (R15 m). The lateral force is measured between the (silicon nitride or glass) probe and a mica surface which has been coated by a thin lubricant film. In the SFA, a thin lubricant film separates two molecularly smooth mica surfaces (R1 cm) which are slid relative to each other. Perfluoropolyether (PFPE) and polydimethylsiloxane (PDMS) were used as the lubricant films. In the SFA where the contact diameter is largest, the PFPE film shows much lower friction than PDMS. As the size of the probe decreases, the difference in the measured friction decreases. For sharp AFM tips, no clear distinction between the tribological properties of the films can be made. Hence, the measured coefficient of friction varies according to the length scale probed, at least for small dimensions.  相似文献

The advent of micro-electromechanical devices (MEMs), sensors, actuators, microsystems, and nanotechnology have called to attention the effect of friction on moving parts in nano/micro devices. To take full advantage of the opportunity to sense, compute, and actuate in real time, fast-moving parts are often necessary or desirable. As the scales of the components shrink, adhesion, stiction, friction, and wear become a significant technological barrier for the successful deployment of durable devices. Most current devices in production avoid such contacts.The nature of the surface contacts, as component scale moves from macro to micro to nano, is dominated by surface forces that normally are dwarfed by mechanical loading. Therefore nanolubrication needs to take into account different factors than conventional lubrication concepts. This paper compares traditional lubrication concepts and those necessary for nanolubrication and proposes various nanometer scale thick lubricating film designs as a means to control the surface properties of surfaces at nano/micro scales.Many of the concepts derive their origin from studies and observations from the magnetic hard disk technology where a “monolayer” of lubricant protects the system and has proven to be robust and safe. Examples from magnetic hard disks will be used to illustrate some of the concepts.  相似文献

A power flow program is developed to analyze the harmonic distortion of a power system with various types of harmonic loads. The proposed program can be applied to solve the harmonic current flow, voltage harmonic distortion factor, resonance frequency, and current amplification factor at every bus in the system. In this study, a large metal factory is selected for the harmonic power flow analysis. The current waveforms at every bus are measured and analyzed to determine various orders of harmonic components. These harmonic currents are used in the computer simulation to determine the harmonic voltage distortion factor at the buses of the system, and the variations of resonance impedance and amplification factor with frequencies are investigated. Finally, the program is used to calculate the harmonic load flow when the metal factory is expanded by including a new plant in the power system, and proper filters are designed to alleviate the harmonic problems  相似文献

Organic vapor analysis with microsensor arrays relies principally on two output parameters: the response pattern, which provides qualitative information, and the response sensitivity, which determines the limit of detection (LOD). The latter is used to define the operating limit in the low-concentration range, under the implicit assumption that, if a vapor can be detected, it can be identified and differentiated from other vapors on the basis of its response pattern. In this study, the performance of an array of four polymer-coated surface acoustic wave vapor sensors was explored using calibrated response data from 16 solvent vapors in Monte Carlo simulations coupled with pattern recognition analysis. The statistical modeling revealed that the ability to recognize a vapor from its response pattern decreases with decreasing vapor concentration, as expected, but also that the concentration at which errors in vapor recognition become excessive is well above the calculated LOD in most cases, despite the LOD being based on the least sensitive sensor in the array. These results suggest the adoption of a limit of recognition (LOR), defined as the concentration below which a vapor can no longer be reliably recognized from its response pattern, as an additional criterion for evaluating the performance of multisensor arrays. A generalized method for estimating the LOR is presented, as well as a means for improving the LOR via residual error analysis.  相似文献

Many of the formulations of current research interest, including iosogeometric methods and the extended finite element method, use nontraditional basis functions. Some, such as subdivision surfaces, may not have convenient analytical representations. The concept of an element, if appropriate at all, no longer coincides with the traditional definition. Developing a new software for each new class of basis functions is a large research burden, especially, if the problems involve large deformations, non‐linear materials, and contact. The objective of this paper is to present a method that separates as much as possible the generation and evaluation of the basis functions from the analysis, resulting in a formulation that can be implemented within the traditional structure of a finite element program but that permits the use of arbitrary sets of basis functions that are defined only through the input file. Elements ranging from a traditional linear four‐node tetrahedron through a higher‐order element combining XFEM and isogeometric analysis may be specified entirely through an input file without any additional programming. Examples of this framework to applications with Lagrange elements, isogeometric elements, and XFEM basis functions for fracture are presented. Copyright © 2010 John Wiley & Sons, Ltd.  相似文献

Invasion is the most prominent lethal feature of malignant cancer. However, how cell proliferation, another important feature of tumor development, is integrated with tumor invasion and the subsequent cell dissemination from primary tumors is not well understood. Proliferating cell nuclear antigen (PCNA) is essential for DNA replication in cancer cells. Loss of phosphorylation at tyrosine 211 (Y211) in PCNA (pY211-PCNA) mitigates PCNA function in proliferation, triggers replication fork arrest/collapse, which in turn sets off an anti-tumor inflammatory response, and suppresses distant metastasis. Here, we show that pY211-PCNA is important in stromal activation in tumor tissues. Loss of the phosphorylation resulted in reduced expression of mesenchymal proteins as well as tumor progenitor markers, and of the ability of invasion. Spontaneous mammary tumors that developed in mice lacking Y211 phosphorylation contained fewer tumor-initiating cells compared to tumors in wild-type mice. Our study demonstrates a novel function of PCNA as an essential factor for maintaining cancer stemness through Y211 phosphorylation.  相似文献

Placenta accreta spectrum (PAS) accounts for 7% of maternal mortality and is associated with intraoperative and postoperative morbidity caused by massive blood loss, infection, and adjacent organ damage. The aims of this study were to identify the protein biomarkers of PAS and to further explore their pathogenetic roles in PAS. For this purpose, we collected five placentas from pregnant subjects with PAS complications and another five placentas from normal pregnancy (NP) cases. Then, we enriched protein samples by specifically isolating the trophoblast villous, deeply invading into the uterine muscle layer in the PAS patients. Next, fluorescence-based two-dimensional difference gel electrophoresis (2D-DIGE) and MALDI-TOF/MS were used to identify the proteins differentially abundant between PAS and NP placenta tissues. As a result, nineteen spots were determined as differentially abundant proteins, ten and nine of which were more abundant in PAS and NP placenta tissues, respectively. Then, specific validation with western blot assay and immunohisto/cytochemistry (IHC) assay confirmed that heat shock 70 kDa protein 4 (HSPA4) and chorionic somatomammotropin hormone (CSH) were PAS protein biomarkers. Further tube formation assays demonstrated that HSPA4 promoted the in vitro angiogenesis ability of vessel endothelial cells, which is consistent with the in vivo scenario of PAS complications. In this study, we not only identified PAS protein biomarkers but also connected the promoted angiogenesis with placenta invasion, investigating the pathogenetic mechanism of PAS.  相似文献

The efficiency of soil remediation by surfactant washing was evaluated via the measured distribution coefficients of a number of nonpolar compounds in several soil-water mixtures. The studied compounds (contaminants) are BTEX (benzene, toluene, ethylbenzene, and p-xylene) and three chlorinated pesticides (lindane, alpha-BHC, and heptachlor epoxide), which span several orders of magnitude in water solubility (S(w)). A peat, and two natural soils were used that comprise a wide range in soil organic matter (SOM) content. The surfactants tested included cationic, anionic and nonionic types, with concentrations up to five to six times the critical micelle concentration (CMC). The K(d)(*)/K(d), values were used to evaluate the remediation efficiency under various operation conditions. For relatively water soluble BTEX compounds, the surfactant adsorption on the soil surface is the deciding factor on contaminant desorption from soil. For the less-soluble pesticides, surfactant micelles in solution influence the contaminant desorption more. The contaminants partitioning to SOM or adsorbed surfactants lowers the desorption efficiency. Anionic surfactants are found to be a better choice on soil remediation because they do not form admicelle on soil surface that enhances the SOM content. Cationic surfactant, which adsorb onto soil surfaces, leads to poor remediation efficiency. An improper selection of surfactant would result in inefficiency in soil remediation by surfactant washing.  相似文献

Aluminum oxide (Al2O3) films have been deposited on lithium niobate (LiNbO3) substrates by electron beam evaporation without any interlayer between them to ensure a good adhesion of the Al2O3 films to LiNbO3 substrates. As Al2O3 thin films can sufficiently increase the surface acoustic wave (SAW) velocity, they can be used to improve the performance of the SAW device. The SAW phase velocity in the Al2O3/LiNbO3 structure was found to increase with the insertion of an Al2O3 film, which can be attributed to the stiffening effect of the Al2O3 layer. The velocity change ratio of SAW was about 4.39% (at 304 MHz) for the Al2O3 (9.7 μm)/LiNbO3 sample. A comparison with other findings in literature reveals that this result is better than what is available from diamond-like carbon/SiC buffer layer/LiNbO3 structure, whose the velocity change ratio is 2%.  相似文献
