We present a novel approach for latency-tolerant delivery of visualization and rendering results where client-side frame rate display performance is independent of source dataset size, image size, visualization technique or rendering complexity. Our approach delivers pre-rendered, multiresolution images to a remote user as they navigate through different viewpoints, visualization or rendering parameters. We employ demand-driven tiled, multiresolution image streaming and prefetching to efficiently utilize available bandwidth while providing the maximum resolution user can perceive from a given viewpoint. Since image data is the only input to our system, our approach is generally applicable to all visualization and graphics rendering applications capable of generating image files in an ordered fashion. In our implementation, a normal web server provides on-demand images to a remote custom client application, which uses client-pull to obtain and cache only those images required to fulfill the interaction needs. The main contributions of this work are: (1) an architecture for latency-tolerant, remote delivery of precomputed imagery suitable for use with any visualization or rendering application capable of producing images in an ordered fashion; (2) a performance study showing the impact of diverse network environments and different tunable system parameters on end-to-end system performance in terms of deliverable frames per second. 相似文献

The Global Positioning System (GPS) looks set to replace the traditional map and compass for navigation tasks in military
and civil domains. However, we may ask whether GPS has a real performance advantage over traditional methods. We present an
exploratory study using a waypoint-plotting task to compare the standard magnetic compass against a military GPS unit, for
both expert and non-expert navigators. Whilst performance times were generally longer in setting up the GPS unit, once navigation
was underway the GPS was more efficient than the compass. For medium- to long-term missions, this means that GPS could offer
significant performance benefits, although the compass remains superior for shorter missions. Notwithstanding the performance
times, significantly more errors, and more serious errors, occurred when using the compass. Overall, then, the GPS offers
some clear advantages, especially for non-expert users. Nonetheless, concerns over the development of cognitive maps remain

For the first time, a traditional radioactive nickel (63Ni) beta emission ionization source for ion mobility spectrometry was employed with an atmospheric pressure ion mobility orthogonal reflector time-of-flight mass spectrometer (IM(tof)MS) to detect a chemical warfare agent (CWA) simulant from aerosol samples. Aerosol-phase sampling employed a quartz cyclonic chamber for sample introduction. The simulant reference material, which closely mimicked the characteristic chemical structure of CWAs as defined and described by Schedule 1, 2, or 3 of the Chemical Warfare Convention treaty verification, was used in this study. An overall elevation in arbitrary signal intensity of approximately 1.0 orders of magnitude was obtained by the progressive increase of the thermal AP-IMS temperature from 75 to 275 degrees C. A mixture of one G-type nerve simulant (dimethyl methylphosphonate (DMMP)) in four (water, kerosene, gasoline, diesel) matrixes was found in each case (AP-IMS temperature 75-275 degrees C) to be clearly resolved in less than 2.20 x 10(4) micros using the IM(tof)MS instrument. Corresponding ions, masses, drift times, K(o) values, and arbitrary signal intensities for each of the sample matrixes are reported for the CWA simulant DMMP. 相似文献

The goal of regression testing is to ensure that the behaviour of existing code, believed correct by previous testing, is not altered by new program changes. This paper argues that the primary focus of regression testing should be on code associated with (1) earlier bug fixes and (2) particular application scenarios considered to be important by the developer or tester. Existing coverage criteria do not enable such focus, for example, 100% branch coverage does not guarantee that a given bug fix is exercised or a given application scenario is tested. Therefore, there is a need for a new and complementary coverage criterion in which the user can definea test requirement characterizing a given behaviour to be covered as opposed to choosing from a pool of pre‐defined and generic program elements. This paper proposes this new methodology and calls it UCov, a user‐defined coverage criterion wherein a test requirement is an execution pattern of program elements, and possibly predicates, that a test case must satisfy. The proposed criterion is not meant to replace existing criteria, but to complement them as it focuses the testing on important code patterns that could go untested otherwise. UCov supports test case intent verification. For example, following a bug fix, the testing team may augment the regression suite with the test case that revealed the bug. However, this test case might become obsolete due to code modifications not related to the bug. But if a test requirement characterizing the bug was defined by the user, UCov would determine that test case intent verification failed. The UCov methodology was implemented for the Java platform, was successfully applied onto 10 real‐life case studies and was shown to have advantages over JUnit. The implementation comprises the following tools: (1) TRSpec: allows the user to easily specify complex test requirements; (2) TRCheck: checks whether user‐defined test requirements were satisfied, that is, supports test case intent verification; and (3) TRMigrate: migrates user‐defined test requirements to subsequent versions of a given program.
