We review the influence of rare-gas layers on image-potential states at metal surfaces. Experiments on Xe, Kr, and Ar on Cu(100) and on Xe/Ru(0001) that use the technique of time-resolved two-photon photoemission are discussed. The energetic position of the electron affinity, the geometry of the adsorbate layer, and dielectric screening are the factors that influence the dynamical and energetic properties of the states. Theories on various levels are compared, including 1- and 3-dimensional models and the GW approximation of many-body theory. We also present new results on buried interface states that exist in the band gaps of both the Cu(100) substrate and a thick adsorbed Ar layer. 相似文献

The concept of organic–inorganic hybrid composites for bulk sensitization of inorganic semiconductors by organic dye molecules is introduced. The idea is either to increase the absorptivity of e.g. indirect semiconductors as μc-Si or to expand in a two-step process the absorption spectrum of wide gap semiconductors to photons of energy smaller than the band gap. The composites are prepared by vacuum-based codeposition. Raman and optical spectroscopy, and photoemission have been used to prove the stability of the organic molecules ZnPc and F16ZnPc for the applied growth conditions. Enhancement of photoconductivity has been shown for ZnPc–Si bilayer. As a crucial parameter for the transfer of excited charges, the alignment of dye HOMO–LUMO states versus semiconductor band edges has been determined using photoelectron spectroscopy. 相似文献

We investigate a variety of known and new approaches for the estimation of the parameters of discrete-time semi-Markovian
traffic models. We focus on modeling video traffic, since the accurate representation of its long-term autocorrelation is
a challenge to the parameter estimation methods. The modeling techniques are applied to sample H.264/AVC-encoded video traces.
We study their ability to reflect the autocorrelation and variability of the original traffic and also the delay probabilities

Although oxamic acid has been identified as an ozone oxidation product from several precursor compounds, concentrations for drinking water have not been published previously. This study shows results from a full-scale drinking water treatment plant, noting that the mean concentrations for oxamic acid reached 21.3 μg/L after ozonation and prior to filtration. Subsequent multiple-layer filtration removed 85% of oxamic acid on average, and mean concentrations in drinking water were 2 μg/L. Up to 5.9% of the oxamic acid found in ozone-treated groundwater may be formed from Chloridazon metabolites. 相似文献

This article proposes a computational fluid dynamics approach to simulate binder infiltration in 3D printing of sand molds using OpenFOAM facilitating the identification of suitable levers for application-specific material and process developments. A method for randomly generating powder bulks of designated powder size distributions (PSD) and procedures for automated analysis of the infiltration profile and volume are introduced. Simulation is utilized to investigate binder infiltration using different droplet spacings, representing different printheads’ resolutions. The apparent particle size at the exact location of the droplets’ impact, the droplets’ landing position in relation to the respective surface topography, and thus the statistical appearance of particle formations appear to be influencing the infiltration profile. High-speed camera observations show the plausibility of the predicted infiltration kinetics. An exemplary use case compares the predicted infiltration profiles to the compressive strength of specimens printed from silica sand with low binder contents. Simulation predicts an average infiltration of 250 μm that presumably achieves reliable bonding for layer thicknesses up to 365 μm. A decrease in strength with increasing layer thickness at constant binder contents can be found in the experiment – at layer thicknesses above 350 μm, only minor strengths are achieved. 相似文献

We present a single-shot line sensor based on spectral interferometry. Light of a broadband laser source is chromatically dispersed by a grating and focused onto a line on the surface such that each focal point on this line is formed by another wavelength. The entire height profile is obtained by applying a phase evaluation algorithm to the registered interference signal, followed by a model-based approach.
