Effect of Phosphorus on Mechanical Properties and Thermal Stability of Fine-grained GH761 Alloy

The effect of phosphorus on mechanical properties and thermal stability of fine-grained GH761 alloy has been investigated.The results show that,when the content of phosphorus is in the range of 0.0007-0.040,there are no significant effects on the tensile properties.Phosphorus strongly affects the stress rupture life.The content of 0.023 P results in the longest life in this experiment.Compared with that of the alloy with 0.0007 P,the life is increased more than 2 times in the alloy with 0.023 P.After ageing at 700℃ for 1000 h,the life reduced to some extent.However,phosphorus exhibits the similar effect on the life as before ageing.The tensile properties of the alloy are not influenced by long term ageing obviously.The present results suggested that the optimum content of phosphorus is 0.023.The phosphorus with this content can optimize the precipitates at the grain boundaries and prevent the excessive growth of the precipitates.The combining mechanical properties of GH761 alloy can be largely improved by phosphorus addition combined with grain refinement.

Architecture and Physical Implementation of a Third Generation 65 nm, 16 Core, 32 Thread Chip-Multithreading SPARC Processor

This third-generation Chip-Multithreading (CMT) SPARC processor consists of 16 cores with shared memory architecture and supports a total of 32 main threads plus 32 scout threads. It is targeted for high-performance servers, and is optimized for both single- and multi-threaded applications. The 396 mm² chip is fabricated in an 11 metal layer 65-nm CMOS process and operates at a nominal frequency of 2.3 GHz, consuming a maximum power of 250 W at 1.2 V. This paper provides an overview of the architectural highlights and describes the physical implementation challenges and solutions including circuit innovations in memory arrays, register files, and floating-point hardware that boost the performance and circuit robustness with low area overhead.     

Degradation behaviour of methamidophos and chlorpyrifos in apple juice treated with pulsed electric fields

Apple juice (13 °Brix) spiked with methamidophos and chlorpyrifos (2–3 mg/l of each compound) was treated by pulsed electric fields (PEF), and pesticide residues were quantified by gas chromatography with flame photometric detection (GC-FPD). Results showed that electric field strength (8–20 kV/cm) and pulse number (6–26 pulses) have significant effects on the degradation of methamidophos and chlorpyrifos. PEF treatment is effective for the degradation of methamidophos and chlorpyrifos residues in apple juice, and chlorpyrifos is much more labile to PEF than methamidophos. An increase in either pulse number or electric field strength could speed the degradation of methamidophos and chlorpyrifos, and the kinetics equations and related parameters quantitatively characterized the degradation behavior of the pesticides. The exponential model better fits the experimental data for all treatments than the linear model.

Study of microbial polyhydroxyalkanoates using two-dimensional Fourier-transform infrared correlation spectroscopy

The premelting behavior of bacterially synthesized polyester poly(3-hydroxybutyrate-co-3-hydroxyhexanoate), abbreviated as P(HB-co-HHx), was investigated by two-dimensional Fourier-transform infrared (2D FTIR) correlation spectroscopy. The temperature-dependent dynamic spectra were measured over a temperature range of 25–300°C. We focused our study on the thermally induced intensity fluctuations of bands for CO (1700–1760 cm⁻¹), C H (2910–3010 cm⁻¹) and C O C groups (1220–1310 cm⁻¹) stretching vibrations. Changes of crystalline conformation due to the thermal perturbation could be detected by the intensity and location variations of those characteristic bands responding to the variations of dipole moments. 2D correlation analysis indicated that the appearance of fully amorphous component did not happen simultaneously with the disappearance of crystalline component, suggesting that there was an intermediate state between ordered crystalline and amorphous states in P(HB-co-HHx). © 2001 John Wiley & Sons, Inc. Communications and control co-design： a combined dynamic-static scheduling approach

This paper investigates the problem of joint design of an output feedback controller and the medium access scheduling policy for networked control systems(NCSs).The capacity of communication networks on sensors side and actuators side are limited so that at any time the sensors and actuators cannot be accommodated simultaneously and that transmission delays are inevitable.The joint design problem is solved in three steps:determining communication sequences(called feasible sequences) for both sides that can preserve controllability and observability,respectively;designing output feedback controller without considering the effect of communication sequences;and setting up a rule that governs the switching between feasible communication sequences.Essentially,the first step is a static scheduling procedure that yields a set of feasible communication sequences for each side.The third step is a dynamic scheduling process resulting in a switching policy in line of a stability criterion of the closed-loop switching delay system.To show the effectiveness of the combined static and dynamic scheduling method,a numerical example is also provided.
