Allelotype analysis of uterine leiomyoma: localization of a potential tumor suppressor gene to a 4-cM region of chromosome 7q

The degree and nature of patient involvement in consultations with health professionals influences problem and needs recognition and management, and public accountability. This paper suggests a framework for understanding the scope for patient involvement in such consultations. Patients are defined as co-producers of formal health services, whose potential for involvement in consultations depends on their personal rights, responsibilities and preferences. Patients' rights in consultations are poorly defined and, in the National Health Service (NHS), not legally enforceable. The responsibilities of patients are also undefined. I suggest that these are not to deny, of their own volition, the rights of others, which in consultations necessitate mutuality of involvement through information-exchange and shared decision-making. Preferences should be met insofar as they do not militate against responsibilities and rights.     

A FISH technique for simultaneous detection of fluorescent R-band and in situ hybridization signals]

BACKGROUND: Because of serious adverse effects of centrally acting antitussive agents, is necessary to find new drugs with cough-suppressing activity. Medicinal herbs are a potential source of polysaccharides with high antitussive efficiency and on the other with minimal side effects. AIM: The study was to assess the antitussive action of mixture of a polysaccharides (RL) and polysaccharide-xylan (XY), both isolated from above-ground parts of Rudbeckie fulgida var. sullivantii. The observed activity was compared to those of narcotic and nonnarcotic antitussive substances used in clinical practice. METHODS: Cough was evoked by mechanical irritation of the airways in nonanaesthetized cats with chronic tracheal cannuly. The plant substances were administered perorally in the dose of 50 mg per kg body weight. RESULTS: Results indicate, that administration of RL induced a suppression of the followed cough parameters from both areas of airways (total fall in cough parameters by 46.6%). Administration of xylan induced the fall in the followed cough parameters with more significant influence on the laryngopharyngeal area of the airways (total fall in cough parameters 48.2%). CONCLUSION: Administration of RL and xylan did not achieve the effect of codeine, but had a more intensive antitussive effect than the peripherally acting droprozine and prenoxdiazine. Array designs for amplitude and phase control of millimeter-wave beams

New array design concepts are described for the phase and amplitude control of millimeter and submillimeter-wave beams. Phase shifter array designs providing increased phase range and wider bandwidth are described. Techniques involving the integration of gain-producing elements as well as tuning elements on a single array are proposed for application to high-performance beam control and beam shaping. These concepts should facilitate the further development of quasi-optical solid state device-based arrays for application to millimeter-wave electronic systems.

The history and the state of the art of solid oxide fuel cells(SOFC)is reviewed in this paper.Itdescribes mainly on the material selection,structure design and technological economics of SOFC.The appli-cation of great amount of rare earth materials in SOFC may well extend the market potential of rare earthmaterials in the world.A research project to be carried out as early as possible in China on the SOFC tech-nology will be far-reaching.     

High-breakdown-voltage AlInAs/GaInAs junction-modulated HEMT's(JHEMT's) with regrown ohmic contacts by MOCVD

A technology for increasing both the two-terminal gate-drain breakdown and subsequently the three-terminal-off-state breakdown of AlInAs/GaInAs high-electron-mobility transistors (HEMTs) to record values without substantial impact on other parameters is presented. The breakdown in these structures is dependent on the multiplication of electrons injected from the source (channel current) and the gate (gate leakage) into the channel. In addition, holes are generated by high fields at the drain and are injected back into the gate and source electrodes. These phenomena can be suppressed by increasing the gate barrier height and alleviating the fields at the drain. Both have been achieved by incorporating a p⁺-2DEG junction as the gate that modulates the 2DEG gas and by utilizing selective regrowth of the source and drain regions by MOCVD. The 1-μm-gate-length devices fabricated have two-terminal gate-drain and three-terminal-off-state breakdown voltages of 31 V and 28 V, respectively     

新型合金代铬刷镀层的组织及强化机理的研究

采用Ｘ射线衍射仪，透射电镜和扫描隧道显微镜等手段对新型代铬镀层（Ｎｉ－Ｆｅ－Ｗ－Ｐ－Ｓ）相结构及组织进行了研究，并初步探讨了镀层的强化机理。研究表明，Ｎｉ－Ｆｅ－Ｗ－Ｐ－Ｓ合金镀层的组织是由含Ｆｅ、Ｗ、Ｐ、Ｓ的镍基固溶体和在其上弥散分布的金属间化合物Ｎｉ_３Ｆｅ所组成，镍基固溶体处于非晶和微晶的混合状态，合金镀层的镀态硬度为ＨＶ７００～７５０，在３００℃退火时。硬度达到最大值ＨＶ９００～９５０，其强化机理主要是微晶的晶界强化和Ｎｉ_３Ｆｅ的弥散强化。     

Insensitive current/voltage-mode filters using FTFNs

A new configuration for realising insensitive current/voltage-mode filters using two four-terminal floating nullors (FTFNs) is presented. It can provide the curren/voltage-mode filters with reduced sensitivities. Moreover, the current-mode filters can have high output impedance and only grounded capacitors. The proposed universal voltage-mode filter with dual outputs can realise lowpass, bandpass, highpass, notch and allpass filtering functions. Simulation results are given to verify the theoretical analysis
