The degradation of two commercially available dyestuffs (C.I. Reactive Black 5 and C.I. Disperse Orange 25) by ultraviolet radiation (UV), ultrasonic irradiation (US), UV/H2O2 and US/H2O2 processes was investigated in a laboratory-scale batch photoreactor equipped with a 55 W immersed-type low-pressure mercury vapor lamp and a sonoreactor with low frequency (42 kHz) plate type transducer at 170 W of acoustic power. The toxicity was also evaluated in acute toxicity studies using Daphnia magna. Results showed that color removal efficiencies by US and US/H2O2 processes were negligible for both dyes. Almost complete disappearance of Reactive Black 5 (97.9%) in UV/H2O2 process was possible after 5 min of irradiation. The maximum color removal efficiency of Disperse Orange 25 after 10 min of irradiation, however, was only 9.2% and reached a maximum value of 41% after 120 min of irradiation. Pseudo-first order kinetics with respect to dyestuffs concentrations was found to fit all the experimental data. The results clearly showed that both dyes examined were toxic to D. magna and resulted in quite low LC50 values.  相似文献

Rusts comprises the largest natural group of plant pathogens including approximately 8% of all described Fungi. Rust fungi are extremely plant pathogens responsible for great losses to agriculture productivity. Rust species belong to several genera among which more than half are Puccinia species. In Pakistan, rust causes severe damage to agriculture crops. Current study was carried out to identify and characterize different rust species common in the research area through microscopy and Scanning electron microscopy (SEM) in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Pakistan. Morpho-anatomical investigation of each collected rust species was carried out using different standard protocols. The dimensions of spores were measured and snapped under a stereomicroscope. SEM was used to examine the shape, size, and ornamentation of the spores of each rust fungus. Results revealed documentation of seven rust fungi, that is, Melampsora euphorbiae, Phragmidium barclayi, Puccinia nepalensis, P. exhausta, P. menthae, Uromyces capitatus, and Uromyces decorates belong to four different genera, were recorded. SEM revealed that spermogonia and Aecia were missing in most of the rust fungus studied. Uredinia was found in a scattered, irregular, lengthy, and epidermis-enclosed form. Urediniospores were found to be ovulating, elongated, echinulate, globose to sub-globose, ellipsoid to ovoid, and globose to sub-globose. Telia was found as sub-epidermal, amphigenous, dispersed, minute, and spherical cells. Teliospores ranged in form from cylindrical to oblong. The germ pores were detected in both apical (top cell) and basal (bottom cell) idiosyncratic and pedicel-attached cells. The techniques used in the current investigation will aid mycologists in rust identification and microscopic characterization.  相似文献

The current study examines various filter configurations, argon bubbling, and degasser addition to improve melt cleanliness of AZ91E permanent mold castings. The unfiltered castings had an average yield strength, ultimate tensile strength, and elongation of 93.3, 153.3 MPa, and 2.2% respectively. Using a fine mesh filter within the well of the mold, the ultimate tensile strength and elongation increased by 9 and 41%, respectively, compared to the unfiltered samples. A combination of a fine filter and argon bubbling resulted in an average increase in ultimate tensile strength and elongation of 29 and 123%, respectively, that matched the performance of the C2Cl6-based degassed castings with 95.8, 194.3, and 4.9% for yield strength, ultimate tensile strength, and elongation, respectively. The addition of the C2Cl6-based degasser released harmful vapors that can be avoided using the fine filter with argon bubbling. In all cases, the removal of MgO-based inclusions improved mechanical properties.  相似文献

Parameter identification is a key requirement in the field of automated control of unmanned excavators (UEs). Furthermore, the UE operates in unstructured, often hazardous environments, and requires a robust parameter identification scheme for field applications. This paper presents the results of a research study on parameter identification for UE. Three identification methods, the Newton-Raphson method, the generalized Newton method, and the least squares method are used and compared for prediction accuracy, robustness to noise and computational speed. The techniques are used to identify the link parameters (mass, inertia, and length) and friction coefficients of the full-scale UE. Using experimental data from a full-scale field UE, the values of link parameters and the friction coefficient are identified. Some of the identified parameters are compared with measured physical values. Furthermore, the joint torques and positions computed by the proposed model using the identified parameters are validated against measured data. The comparison shows that both the Newton-Raphson method and the generalized Newton method are better in terms of prediction accuracy. The Newton-Raphson method is computationally efficient and has potential for real time application, but the generalized Newton method is slightly more robust to measurement noise. Automated techniques for Arabic content recognition are at a beginning period contrasted with their partners for the Latin and Chinese contents recognition. There is a bulk of handwritten Arabic archives available in libraries, data centers, historical centers, and workplaces. Digitization of these documents facilitates (1) to preserve and transfer the country’s history electronically, (2) to save the physical storage space, (3) to proper handling of the documents, and (4) to enhance the retrieval of information through the Internet and other mediums. Arabic handwritten character recognition (AHCR) systems face several challenges including the unlimited variations in human handwriting and the leakage of large and public databases. In the current study, the segmentation and recognition phases are addressed. The text segmentation challenges and a set of solutions for each challenge are presented. The convolutional neural network (CNN), deep learning approach, is used in the recognition phase. The usage of CNN leads to significant improvements across different machine learning classification algorithms. It facilitates the automatic feature extraction of images. 14 different native CNN architectures are proposed after a set of try-and-error trials. They are trained and tested on the HMBD database that contains 54,115 of the handwritten Arabic characters. Experiments are performed on the native CNN architectures and the best-reported testing accuracy is 91.96%. A transfer learning (TF) and genetic algorithm (GA) approach named “HMB-AHCR-DLGA” is suggested to optimize the training parameters and hyperparameters in the recognition phase. The pre-trained CNN models (VGG16, VGG19, and MobileNetV2) are used in the later approach. Five optimization experiments are performed and the best combinations are reported. The highest reported testing accuracy is 92.88%.

The effect of nano-sized PbO (10–30 nm) addition on the transport critical current density, Jc of (Bi1.6Pb0.4)Sr2Ca2Cu3O10 (PbO)x (x=0–0.15 wt%) was investigated. Jc of PbO added pellet samples showed the maximal value at x=0.05 wt%. Using this result, Ag-sheathed (Bi1.6Pb0.4)Sr2Ca2Cu3O10 (PbO)x/Ag tapes (x=0 and 0.05 wt %) were fabricated by the powder-in-tube (PIT) method. The tapes were sintered for 50 h and 100 h at 845 °C. The temperature dependence of Jc for the non-added and PbO added tapes in applied field was investigated. Jc of the non-added tapes was 4510 A/cm2 at 40 K and 949 A/cm2 at 77 K. Jc of (Bi1.6Pb0.4)Sr2Ca2Cu3O10 (PbO)0.05/Ag tape sintered for 100 h was 26,800 A/cm2 at 40 K and 10,700 A/cm2 at 40 K, which was higher than the tapes sintered for 50 h (8590 A/cm2 at 40 K and 1880 A/cm2 at 77 K). Nano-sized PbO added tapes sintered for 100 h showed a higher Jc (more than 10 times) under magnetic field (0–0.75 T) compared with the non-added tape. A combined effect of enhanced flux pinning and improved microstructure led to the significant increase in Jc of the nano-sized PbO added tapes.  相似文献

In the present study, a simple, sensitive, rapid, and stability-indicating high performance liquid chromatographic (HPLC) method with ultraviolet detection for the analysis of ketotifen was developed and validated. The method was applied to the determination of ketotifen in pharmaceutical formulations (tablets and syrups). The HPLC method utilized isocratic elution technique with a reversed phase C8 column, detection at 297 nm and a mixture of methanol, triethylamine phosphate buffer (pH 2.8; 0.04 M), and tetrahydrofuran (43: 55: 2, v/v/v) as mobile phase at a flow rate of 1.2 mL/min. Total analysis time was about 7 min with typical retention time of ketotifen of about 5 min. The method was validated for selectivity, linearity, accuracy, and precision following International Conference of Harmonization, 1996 (ICH) recommendations. Due to its simplicity and accuracy, the method can be used for routine quality control analysis.  相似文献

Stratified concrete poses a promising alternative for construction. Its fresh and hardened properties have been studied at the material level; however, structural behavior in steel reinforced specimens has not been studied. This paper focuses on the flexural behavior of eight stratified reinforced concrete (SRC) specimens representing slices from a slab or non-bearing wall. Specimens with two stratified concrete designs and three steel ratios were tested and compared to estimates from a fiber element numerical model and rectangular stress-block design methods from ACI 318 and Eurocode 2. The results suggest that SRC has similar damage modes as ordinary reinforced concrete (ORC). The fiber element model accurately estimated the measured behavior, while ACI 318 and Eurocode 2 differed from the experimental results by <25%. These prediction accuracies are similar to those for ORC. Therefore, the flexural design of SRC can be done using both fiber element and rectangular stress-block approaches.  相似文献
