In this study, PbSe bulk samples were prepared by a high-pressure high-temperature (HPHT) sintering technique, and the phase compositions, band gaps and thermoelectric properties of the samples were systematically investigated. The sintering pressure exerts a significant influence on the preferential orientation, band gap and thermoelectric properties of PbSe. With increasing pressure, the preferential orientation decreases, mainly due to the decreased crystallinity, while the band gap first decreases and then increases. The electrical conductivity and power factor decrease gradually with increasing pressure, mainly attributed to the decreased carrier concentration and mobility. Consequently, the sample prepared by 2 GPa shows the highest thermoelectric figure-of-merit, ZT, of 0.55 at ~ 475 K. The ZT of the HPHT-sintered PbSe could be further improved by properly doping or optimizing the HPHT parameters. This study further demonstrates that the sintering pressure could be another degree of freedom to manipulate the band structure and thermoelectric properties of materials. 相似文献

In this paper, a model-based approach to medical image analysis is presented. It is aimed at understanding the influence of the physiological (related to tissue) and physical (related to image modality) processes underlying the image content. This methodology is exemplified by modeling first, the liver and its vascular network, and second, the standard computed tomography (CT) scan acquisition. After a brief survey on vascular modeling literature, a new method, aimed at the generation of growing three-dimensional vascular structures perfusing the tissue, is described. A solution is proposed in order to avoid intersections among vessels belonging to arterial and/or venous trees, which are physiologically connected. Then it is shown how the propagation of contrast material leads to simulate time-dependent sequences of enhanced liver CT slices. 相似文献

The bit error rate (BER) theory of silicon photomultiplier (SiPM) based on‐off keying optical communication receiver, which introduces photon equivalent threshold is established. The optical crosstalk effect, the dark counts, the amplitude fluctuations of output pulses of SiPM, the baseline fluctuation, the shape of the incident light pulse, the adjacent symbol interference as well as the photon detection efficiency (PDE) are considered in the theory model. The numerical result shows that the average minimum optical power required is much smaller than that of the avalanche photodiode‐based receivers under the same conditions. The BER of SiPM‐based optical communication receiver is very sensitive to the PDE and optical crosstalk (OC) probability of SiPM. For the application of digital optical communication, a SiPM with high PDE but low OC probability and low dark count rate is a preference, under the premise that the output pulse is fast enough. For the state‐of‐the‐art SiPMs, the dark count rate is small enough to obtain adequate BER, and the OC effect is not a big limitation of the performance of SiPM‐based receiver. Moreover, the amplitude fluctuation and the baseline fluctuation of the SiPM‐based receiver are not bottlenecks of the performance in practice. 相似文献
