Poly(butylene succinate-co-butylene adipate) (PBSA)-degrading bacterium, strain 1-A, was isolated from soil. Strain 1-A was identified as Bacillus pumilus on the basis of its physiological properties and partial 16S rRNA gene sequence. Strain 1-A also degraded poly(butylene succinate) (PBS) and poly(epsilon-caprolactone). On the other hand, poly(butylene adipate terephthalate) and poly(lactic acid) were minimally degraded by strain 1-A. The NMR spectra of degradation products from PBSA indicated that the adipate units were more rapidly degraded than 1,4-butanediol and succinate units. This seems to be one of the reasons why strain 1-A degraded PBSA faster than PBS. 相似文献

Yacon (Smallanthus sonchifolius), a native Andean plant, has been cultivated as a crop and locally used as a traditional folk medicine for the people suffering from diabetes and digestive/renal disorders. However, the medicinal properties of this plant and its processed foods have not been completely established. This study investigates the potent antioxidative effects of herbal tea leaves from yacon in different free radical models and a ferric reducing model. A hot‐water extract exhibited the highest yield of total polyphenol and scavenging effect on 1,1‐diphenyl‐2‐picryl hydrazyl (DPPH) radical among four extracts prepared with hot water, methanol, ethanol, and ethylacetate. In addition, a higher reducing power of the hot‐water extract was similarly demonstrated among these extracts. Varying concentrations of the hot‐water extract resulted in different scavenging activities in four synthetic free radical models: DPPH radical (EC50 28.1 μg/mL), 2,2′‐azinobis(3‐ethylbenzothiazoline‐6‐sulfonic acid) cation radical (EC50 23.7 μg/mL), galvinoxyl radical (EC50 3.06 μg/mL), and chlorpromazine cation radical (EC50 475 μg/mL). The yacon tea‐leaf extract further demonstrated superoxide anion (O2?) radical scavenging effects in the phenazine methosulfate‐NADH‐nitroblue tetrazolium (EC50 64.5 μg/mL) and xanthine oxidase assay systems (EC50 20.7 μg/mL). Subsequently, incubating human neutrophilic cells in the presence of the tea‐leaf extract could suppress the cellular O2? radical generation (IC50 65.7 μg/mL) in a phorbol 12‐myristate 13‐acetate‐activated cell model. We focused on Sr-substituted CePO4—i. e., (Ce,Sr)PO4—with the monazite structure and synthesized the orthophosphates hydrothermally. As for the obtained products, we investigated the particle morphologies by SEM and electrical conduction properties by conductivity measurements. In order to estimate the crystal and electronic structures, neutron and synchrotron X-ray diffraction measurements were also carried out. As a result, it was found that (Ce,Sr)PO4 with a single phase of the monazite structure was successfully prepared by the hydrothermal method and the substitution amount of Sr was almost equal to the nominal one. It was also demonstrated that a powder morphology of the (Ce,Sr)PO4 depended on the synthetic conditions; i.e, concentrations of cation sources and pH of aqueous solution in the hydrothermal process. The Sr-substituted sample showed much higher conductivities than the unsubstituted one, in the same way as the (Ce,Sr)PO4 synthesized by other methods reported previously. 相似文献

The levels of 90Sr and 137Cs in human placenta, fetus and diet were determined by radiochemical methods during the period from March 1966 to December 1968. The possible effects of these radionuclides on the pregnant woman and the fetus were discussed. The metabolic characteristics of both 90Sr and 137Cs were also discussed on the basis of estimates of discrimination factors and observed ratios of these radionuclides. As a result of the analyses, the dose rate to the human placenta resulting from deposition of 90Sr in the organ was estimated at about 0.003 mrem/month and that of 137Cs at about 0.013 mrem/month. The dose rate to the total body resulting from the body burden of these radionuclides in the mother was estimated at about 0.012 mrem/ month. These values are much smaller than the monthly dose from 40K normally existing in the body. It was rather difficult to draw definitive conclusions concerning the possible correlation between the 90Sr fallout and the annual changes of infant mortality rates in Japan. 相似文献

Local density of states (LDOS) is obtained by the first principles calculation based on the density functional theory on the Si(0 0 1)2 × 1 surface and on the surface with an Al dimer. At an Al dimer, LDOS has a high intensity in the conduction band region, which cannot be seen on the Si(0 0 1)2 × 1 surface. This tendency is observed in STS measurements as well. The possibility for a microelementary analysis is presented by applying this method to other metal atoms on the Si surface. Furthermore, it is pointed out that STS measurements should be always performed at the same tip-sample separation to obtain reproducible STS spectrums. 相似文献

Spherical-impact damage to two silicon nitrides is investigated. Gas-pressure-sintered silicon nitride exhibits an elastic response to impact by spherical partially stabilized zirconia particles, resulting in Hertzian cone-crack initiation in the sintered body. Pressureless-sintered silicon nitride, on the other hand, demonstrated an elastic/plastic response, with median/radical-crack initiation. These differences in behavior are due to their microstructural differences as well as to the different hardness values of the silicon nitrides in relation to those of the PSZ spheres. The postimpact bend strength of silicon nitrides is also degraded when crack length exceeds the inherent flaw size. 相似文献

Conventional T.V. cameras are limited in their field of view. A real-time omnidirectional camera which can acquire an omnidirectional (360 degrees) field of view at video rate and which could be applied in a variety of fields, such as autonomous navigation, telepresence, virtual reality and remote monitoring, is presented. We have developed three different types of omnidirectional image sensors, and two different types of multiple-image sensing systems which consist of an omnidirectional image sensor and binocular vision. Catalytic oxidation of benzene in the gas phase has been studied as a function of the catalyst composition, reaction temperature and the feed conditions of reactant gases, hydrogen, oxygen, benzene as well as diluting inert gas. The catalyst tested is composed of Pd and Cu(I) ions, both of which are supported on silica gel. If one of the two metal species is lacked from the catalyst, no catalytic activity appears.
