As heat generation in satellites increases, ensuring that they are provided with sufficient radiator panel area is an important problem. Deployable radiators, with radiator panels that are deployed post‐launch in space to increase the satellite's effective radiator panel area of the satellite, are becoming an important thermal control technology. A reservoir embedded loop heat pipe (RELHP) is used in deployable radiators as a heat transport device. A deployable radiator of this type was mounted on the ETS‐VIII satellite, which was launched on December 18, 2006 and injected into a geostationary orbit. The satellite is still operating without any significant issues over two years later. This paper investigates the heat transport characteristics of an RELHP system used in a deployable radiator in a geostationary orbital environment. This system can be successfully started up in a micro gravity environment. We also found that the sub‐cooling region is shorter in a micro gravity environment than in a terrestrial gravity environment, because there is less heat leakage into the reservoir in a micro gravity environment. © 2011 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. An exploration of common rules (property motifs) in amino acid sequences has been required for the design of novel sequences and elucidation of the interactions between molecules controlled by the structural or physical environment. In the present study, we developed a new method to search property motifs that are common in peptide sequence data. Our method comprises the following two characteristics: (i) the automatic determination of the position and length of common property motifs by calculating the physicochemical similarity of amino acids, and (ii) the quick and effective exploration of motif candidates that discriminates the positives and negatives by the introduction of genetic programming (GP). Our method was evaluated by two types of model data sets. First, the intentionally buried property motifs were searched in the artificially derived peptide data containing intentionally buried property motifs. As a result, the expected property motifs were correctly extracted by our algorithm. Second, the peptide data that interact with MHC class II molecules were analyzed as one of the models of biologically active peptides with buried motifs in various lengths. Twofold MHC class II binding peptides were identified with the rule using our method, compared to the existing scoring matrix method. In conclusion, our GP based motif searching approach enabled to obtain knowledge of functional aspects of the peptides without any prior knowledge. 相似文献

There are many dried foods of hollow cylinder-shapes in the market. Hygrostress cracks form in these foods during drying without a careful process control. The objective of the present work was to develop a simulation method for heat and moisture transfer in hollow cylinder-food coupled with hygrophysical changes. A modified Luikov's model was used for the development together with a virtual work minimization principle, critical tensile stress criterion for crack formation, and critical crack-tip-opening angle criterion for crack propagation. This paper deals with the radiation loss of bent transmission lines in order to determine the most optimal design for a bent line from the standpoint of radiation loss. Lewis number represents the thermo-diffusive effects on laminar flames. That of hydrogen–air mixture varies extensively with the equivalence ratio due to the high molecular diffusivity of hydrogen. In this study, the influences of pressure and thermo-diffusive effects on spherically propagating premixed hydrogen–air turbulent flames were studied using a constant volume fan-stirred combustion vessel. It was noted that the ratio of the turbulent to unstretched laminar burning velocity increased with decreasing equivalence ratio and increasing mixture pressure. Turbulent burning velocity was dominated by three factors: (1) purely hydrodynamic factor, turbulence Reynolds number, (2) relative turbulence intensity to reaction speed, the ratio of turbulence intensity to unstretched laminar burning velocity, and (3) sensitivity of the flame to the stretch due to the thermo-diffusive effects, Lewis and Markstein numbers. healthcare societies, and information and communications technology industries, IEEE 802 Standard Committee set up a task
group of TG15.6 to develop an IEEE wireless standard on WBAN. In this paper, we first review the main activities of TG15.6
with the updated status. Then, we present a prototype WBAN system that is implemented by using ultra-wideband technology.
Multi-hop mechanism is adopted to guarantee reliable connection. Finally, we describe an experimental system that uses the
developed WBAN system by combining with satellite communication in supporting remote medical treatment and healthcare. In
case of less of medical resources such as in emergency, in rural or isolated areas, such a system is important in sending
the corresponding biosignal to a remote hospital in real time to help patient management. The relative delay of WBAN data

Imaging properties of a birefringent lens, in which the fast (or the slow) axis is distributed in the radial direction whereas magnitude of birefringence varies as a quadratic function of the pupil radius, are investigated by calculating a point-spread function. It is found that the point image is analytically described by using the Lommel function as well as the zero-order Bessel function, and a localized intensity null surrounded by bright regions in all directions can be realized at a geometrical focus under certain conditions. The main objectives of the preoperative evaluation of a patient with medically intractable epileptic seizures are localization of the foci and propagation of the epileptiform discharges. Electrocorticographic (ECoG) data of intractable focal epilepsy were analyzed using an AR model, wavelet analysis, and cross-correlation analysis. In order to derive the time-shifts, the cross correlations of the epileptiform discharges were calculated between electrodes for every unit of time. Further analyses were made by means of a set of contour maps of the time-shifts and sequential two- and three-dimensional visualizations of the time-shift maps in order to localize the epileptic foci and study their propagation process. Two types of foci and propagation were revealed in the results. In the first type, epileptiform discharges were generated at localized focal sites and spread quickly to other sites. In the second type, the foci of epileptiform discharges, which appeared soon after the former bursts, were localized at more than one site, and the discharges tended to spread more slowly. The findings suggest that epileptic phenomena can be caused by at least two kinds of mechanisms in one patient: in the former, the propagation might be mediated through synaptic projections, while in the latter, the extracellular diffusion of an excitatory factor might play an important role. In addition, our newly developed visualization technique for the localization of epileptic foci and the propagation of epileptiform discharges should prove useful in the study of epileptogenesis etiology. 相似文献
