Structure and properties of porous silicon obtained by photoanodization

The results of an investigation of layers of porous silicon (PS), which was obtained by electrochemical etching of p-Si under different illumination conditions — natural light, incandescent light, and light from a mercury lamp with and without a filter — are reported. The structure of the layers was studied by double-crystal x-ray diffractometry, the composition was monitored by means of the IR absorption spectra, and the radiative properties were monitored according to the photoluminescence (PL) spectra. It was established that electrochemical etching under illumination produces PS with a higher porosity and more intense PL whose maximum is shifted into the short-wavelength region. These changes are accompanied by a large disordering of the structure and an increase in the oxygen content in the layer. It is concluded that illumination accelerates the chemical interaction of PS with the electrolyte due to oxidation. High-porosity porous silicon stored in air exhibits quenching of PL. Conversely, PL is excited in layers with a lower porosity. Aging of PS is characterized by an increase in the microdeformation of the layers, a decrease in the crystallite sizes with a partial loss of coherence between the crystallites and the substrate, and an increase in the fraction of the amorphous phase. 本文研究了医学图象小波变换系数的统计特征。根据医学图象的特点，提出了基于小波变换的医学图象编码方法。实验表明，这种方法具有较好的压缩编码性能，优于JPEG标准。同时，它支持逐次浮现式传输，从而能满足医学图象存储、通信、检索的需要。     

A microprocessor-based toggle-control lighting system

Analysis, design, practical consideration, and implementation of a microprocessor-based toggle-control lighting system are presented. The system is primarily configured with a power factor corrector (PFC), a square-wave voltage generator, a manually controlled toggle switch, and two relays. Toggling the toggle switch can select a different number of lamps in operation, resulting in a mutual dimming feature. A fluorescent lamp lighting system with this specific ballast gains the merits of lower system cost and more flexibilities in lighting fixture design, as compared to conventional systems     

Entropy Optimization Models with Convex Constraints

In this paper, we study the minimum cross-entropy optimization problem subject to a general class of convex constraints. Using a simple geometric inequality and the conjugate inequality we demonstrate how to directly construct a "partial" geometric dual program which allows us to apply the dual perturbation method to derive the strong duality theorem and a dual-to-primal conversion formula. This approach generalizes the previous results of linearly, quadratically, and entropically constrained cross-entropy optimization problems and provides a platform for using general purpose optimizers to generate ε-optimal solution pair to the problem.
