Spark plasma sintering was used to fabricate Cu/TiO2−x composites by adding Cu powder to nonstoichiometric titanium dioxide, TiO2−x. The composition and crystal forms of the composites were examined. The thermoelectric properties of the composites were measured and the effects of composite formation on these properties were discussed. The rule of mixture (ROM) of composite and general effective medium theory (GEM) were used to investigate the composite effects of the Cu/TiO2−x composites. The results revealed that the electrical resistivities of the composites was much lower than that of TiO2−x. As the added amount of Cu powder increased, the electrical properties of the composites shifted from semiconductor behavior to metallic behavior. The thermoelectric performances of the composites improved as a result of composition formation. The thermoelectric performance can be improved by adjusting the balance among electrical resistivity, thermal conductivity and the Seebeck coefficient, based on the composite effects.  相似文献

To examine methods for reducing the amount of adsorbed protein on the surface of contact lenses during use, cationic copolymers containing poly(ethylene oxide) units were synthesized and evaluated as surface modifiers. Poly(ethylene oxide) graft‐branched copolymers of composition 70 mol % dimethylaminoethyl methacrylate (DM) and 30 mol % methoxy polyethylene glycol methacrylate (Mp0G; p = 2, 4, 9; the average number of the ethylene oxide units) were obtained using nonionic monomers containing poly(ethylene oxide) units. The copolymers very efficiently prevented protein adsorption on a contact lens. Contact angle measurements showed that immersion in tear fluid made the lens surface hydrophobic because of adsorption of proteins with hydrophobic residues. The copolymer pretreatment made the lens surface hydrophilic, even after dipping in artificial tear fluid. These results suggest that adsorption of the poly(ethylene oxide) branched copolymer on the contact lens would make the lens surface hydrophilic and prevent protein adsorption. © 2012 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. Titania micropatterns with periodic arrangements were successfully formed on glass substrates for use with electromagnetic wave energy resonance and localizations in terahertz frequency ranges. Geometric arrangements of acrylic polygonal tablets with titania particle dispersions were fabricated by using micropatterning stereolithography. Moreover, periodically arranged full anatase‐phase titania tablets were created homogeneously through liquid‐phase crystal depositions of water solvent processes, using microtemplates fabricated by using the stereolithography system. The terahertz wave properties were measured and calculated by using a time‐domain spectroscopic system and finite‐difference time‐domain method.  相似文献

To achieve a high-efficiency silicon nanowire (SiNW) solar cell, surface passivation technique is very important because a SiNW array has a large surface area. We successfully prepared by atomic layer deposition (ALD) high-quality aluminum oxide (Al2O3) film for passivation on the whole surface of the SiNW arrays. The minority carrier lifetime of the Al2O3-depositedSiNW arrays with bulk silicon substrate was improved to 27 μs at the optimum annealing condition. To remove the effect of bulk silicon, the effective diffusion length of minority carriers in the SiNW array was estimated by simple equations and a device simulator. As a result, it was revealed that the effective diffusion length in the SiNW arrays increased from 3.25 to 13.5 μm by depositing Al2O3 and post-annealing at 400°C. This improvement of the diffusion length is very important for application to solar cells, and Al2O3 deposited by ALD is a promising passivation material for a structure with high aspect ratio such as SiNW arrays.  相似文献

Silicon nanowire (SiNW) arrays were prepared on silicon substrates by metal-assisted chemical etching and peeled from the substrates, and their optical properties were measured. The absorption coefficient of the SiNW arrays was higher than that for the bulk silicon over the entire region. The absorption coefficient of a SiNW array composed of 10-μm-long nanowires was much higher than the theoretical absorptance of a 10-μm-thick flat Si wafer, suggesting that SiNW arrays exhibit strong optical confinement. To reveal the reason for this strong optical confinement demonstrated by SiNW arrays, angular distribution functions of their transmittance were experimentally determined. The results suggest that Mie-related scattering plays a significant role in the strong optical confinement of SiNW arrays.  相似文献

The recent increase in the frequency of endometrial cancer has emphasized the need for accurate diagnosis and improved treatment. The current diagnosis is still based on conventional pathological indicators, such as clinical stage, tumor differentiation, invasion depth and vascular invasion. However, the genetic mechanisms underlying endometrial cancer have gradually been determined, due to developments in molecular biology, leading to the possibility of new methods of diagnosis and treatment planning. New candidate biomarkers for endometrial cancer include those for molecular epigenetic mutations, such as microRNAs. These biomarkers may permit earlier detection of endometrial cancer and prediction of outcomes and are likely to contribute to future personalized therapy for endometrial cancer.  相似文献

Shear-induced crystallization of a long chain hyper-branched polypropylene (LCB-PP, denoted PP-3) was carried out at a relatively high temperature of 170 °C, close to its melting temperature of 158 °C. Small-angle X-ray scattering (SAXS) showed that the intensity ratio of the normal to the perpendicular to the shear (V/H) was always larger than 1 for PP-3, indicating that shish-like structures were predominately formed and further growth to kebab was suppressed in PP-3. The crystallization behavior of PP-3 can be explained by the nature of PP-3 that there were a large amount of crystallization nuclei due to their branching points, and the point-like precursors formed from these nuclei were arrayed linearly along the shear direction and transformed into thread-like precursors or premature shishs; however, owing to the large amount of branching, further progress in crystallization was suppressed.  相似文献

Multiple melting behavior of poly(butylene-2,6-naphthalate) (PBN) was studied with X-ray analysis and differential scanning calorimetry (DSC). Double endothermic peaks L and H attributed to the α-form crystal modification, a small peak attributed to the β-form crystal modification, and a new shoulder peak S at a lower temperature of peak H appeared in the DSC melting curves. Wide-angle X-ray diffraction patterns of the samples isothermally crystallized at 200 and 220 °C were obtained at a heating rate of 1 K min−1, successively. In this heating process, change of crystal structure and increase of quantity of the β-form crystallites could not be observed up to the final melting. With increasing temperature, the diffraction intensity decreased gradually and then increased distinctly before a steep decrease due to the final melting. The X-ray analysis clearly proved the melt-recrystallization during heating. The β-form crystal modification was formed during slow heating process in the high temperature region.  相似文献

Microporous carbons have been synthesized by the carbonization of cationic surfactant-resorcinol/formaldehyde (RF) composites, which were themselves formed by electrostatic organic-organic interaction. The porous structure produced by the decomposition of the surfactant plays an important role for the gasification of the RF polymer at higher temperatures. The pore size of the carbon prepared from tetrapropylammonium bromide (TPAB)-RF, cetyltrimethylammonium bromide (C16TAB)-RF and decyltrimethylammonium bromide (C10TAB)-RF mixtures can be estimated as 0.53 nm from the Horvath-Kawazoe method using N2 adsorption isotherms. Their pore size distributions were very narrow, showing that the microporous carbons derived from surfactant-RF mixture may have promise as adsorbents and membrane materials.  相似文献
