The thermoelectric properties of the Mg2Ge0.3Sn0.7 solid solution doped with Ga and Li are studied. The samples with a hole concentration as high as 5 × 1020 cm–3 are obtained. The temperature dependences of the thermopower, electrical conductivity, and thermal conductivity are measured in the range from room temperature to 800 K. A higher mobility of free charge carriers is observed in the samples doped with lithium than in the samples doped with gallium. The largest thermoelectric figure of merit in the samples under study amounts to 0.42 at 700 K.  相似文献

The rupture of a liquid film driven by friction with a gas flow in a horizontal minichannel and the heat-exchange crisis in this film locally heated by a 1 × 1 cm source in the channel wall has been experimentally studied. A heat flux of 250 W/cm2 is achieved, which is greater by an order of magnitude than the limiting heat flux for a vertically falling liquid film with the same Reynolds number (Re l = 21). These experiments confirmed good prospects for using gas-flow-driven liquid films in cooling systems of devices with intense local heat evolution.  相似文献

As is well-known, the development of high-effective and thermostable acoustic devices assumes using the acoustic waves with high coefficient of electromechanical coupling (K2) and low temperature coefficient of delay (TCD). At present, it also is well-known that fundamental shear horizontal (SH0) acoustic waves in thin piezoelectric plates possess by significantly more electromechanical coupling compared to surface acoustic waves (SAW) in the same material. However, although the value of TCD of SH0 waves is insignificantly less than for SAW, this is not enough for development of thermostable devices. This paper suggests a new way of decreasing TCD of SH0 waves in piezoelectric plates at a high level of electromechanical coupling. This way assumes to use the structure containing the piezoelectric plate and liquid with the special dependence of permittivity on temperature. Theoretical and experimental investigation showed that, for SH0 wave in YX LiNbO3 plate at hf = 700 m/s (h = plate thickness, f = wave frequency) the presence of butyl acetate can decrease the value of TCD by six times at K2 = 30%. In a whole the obtained results open the wide prospect of using SH0 wave in thin piezoelectric plate for development of high effective and thermo-stable acoustic devices.  相似文献

The parathyroid hormone (PTH) gene is expressed and translated in the rat hypothalamus, and the possibility that PTH may modulate neural activity was therefore examined in anesthetized rats. Intracerebroventricular (ICV) injections of 1.0 or 10.0 micrograms rat, human, or bovine PTH(1-34) was followed 60 min later by increased concentrations of DOPAC (dihydroxyacetic acid) and the DOPAC:dopamine (DA) ratio in the medial basal hypothalamus (MBH), but not in other (brainstem, cerebral cortex, cerebellum) regions of the brain. Tissue concentrations of norepinephrine and serotonin were unchanged by ICV PTH administration, although MBH concentrations of 5-hydroxyindolacetic acid (5-HIAA) were increased following PTH administration. An increase in MBH DA turnover (as indicated by an increased DOPAC:DA ratio) was also induced by the ICV injection of 10 micrograms PTH-related protein [PTHrP(1-34)]. Pretreatment with the receptor antagonists PTH(7-34) or PTHrP(7-34) completely blocked the subsequent DOPAC response to ICV PTH or PTHrP, respectively. The DOPAC concentrations in hypothalamic extracellular fluid (ECF), sampled by microdialysis, were also increased within 20 min of PTH(1-34) perfusion, in the absence of changes in the ECF concentrations of 5-HIAA. These results demonstrate that PTH and PTH-like peptides specifically increase DA turnover in the rat MBH and suggest novel roles for these hormones in neural regulation.  相似文献

5-Fluorouracil (5-FU) inhibits the enzyme thymidylate synthetase (TS) which results in inhibition of DNA synthesis. 5-FU is teratogenic in many species, inducing cleft palate, limb, and tail defects. In the present study, gestation day (GD) 14 embryonic rat craniofacial explants were exposed to 5-FU in organ culture with increasing concentrations and durations of exposure. Palates exposed to 5-FU were morphologically abnormal and craniofacial shape, size, and palatal fusion pattern were affected with the severity of effects dependent on concentration and duration of exposure. Cleft palate was induced in vitro as opposing palates overlapped in a narrowed oral cavity. Palates exposed to higher levels of 5-FU were growth inhibited, but fused even though proliferation ceased and few cells were available to participate in elevation and fusion. This was demonstrated as a biphasic concentration-response profile for palatal fusion in which 0.05 to 0.15 micrograms 5-FU/ml produced decreasing rates of palatal fusion, while exposure to 0.15 to 3.0 micrograms/ml resulted in progressively increasing rates of fusion. The effects of 5-FU were detected biochemically as a reduction in TS activity which was concentration and time dependent during the first 12 hours, with a return to control levels by 24 hours. During the first day, 5-FU did not alter protein levels, but DNA levels significantly decreased at the high concentration, 2.0 micrograms/ml. After 5 days in culture, both DNA and protein decreased with increasing 5-FU concentration and duration of exposure. Also by the end of the culture period, 3H-TdR incorporation had decreased in a concentration dependent manner. It is concluded that progressive inhibition of proliferation and growth in organ culture results in two different morphological outcomes: cleft palate resulting from a narrowed oral cavity and increased incidence of anterior palatal fusion under conditions of strong growth reduction. This study demonstrates that elevation and fusion can occur in the absence of growth and proliferation. Based on these observations, severe inhibition of growth or proliferation would not necessarily be sufficient to induce cleft palate.  相似文献

The bovine papillomavirus E5 transforming protein appears to activate both the epidermal growth factor receptor (EGF-R) and the platelet-derived growth factor receptor (PDGF-R) by a ligand-independent mechanism. To further investigate the ability of E5 to activate receptors of different classes and to determine whether this stimulation occurs through the extracellular domain required for ligand activation, we constructed chimeric genes encoding PDGF-R and EGF-R by interchanging the extracellular, membrane, and cytoplasmic coding domains. Chimeras were transfected into NIH 3T3 and CHO(LR73) cells. All chimeras expressed stable protein which, upon addition of the appropriate ligand, could be activated as assayed by tyrosine autophosphorylation and biological transformation. Cotransfection of E5 with the wild-type and chimeric receptors resulted in the ligand-independent activation of receptors, provided that a receptor contained either the transmembrane domain of the PDGF-R or the cytoplasmic domain of the EGF-R. Chimeric receptors that contained both of these domains exhibited the highest level of E5-induced biochemical and biological stimulation. These results imply that E5 activates the PDGF-R and EGR-R by two distinct mechanisms, neither of which specifically involves the extracellular domain of the receptor. Consistent with the biochemical and biological activation data, coimmunoprecipitation studies demonstrated that E5 formed a complex with any chimera that contained a PDGF-R transmembrane domain or an EGF-R cytoplasmic domain, with those chimeras containing both domains demonstrating the greatest efficiency of complex formation. These results suggest that although different domains of the PDGF-R and EGF-R are required for E5 activation, both receptors are activated directly by formation of an E5-containing complex.  相似文献

Spectral and spatial characteristics of the output of InGaAsP/InP separate-confinement double heterostructure laser are investigated. The measurements are performed in quasicontinuous and continuous pumping regimes at room temperature. These lasers are shown to be spatially single-mode over the entire working range of currents. The broadening of the longitudinal modes under quasicontinuous pumping is attributed to heating of the active region of the lasers. An installation has been designed and manufactured to test the tie rods of superconducting magnets of Atlas Barrel Toroid at tension load 2.5 MN (about 520 MPa maximum tensile stress) and with temperature gradient along the tie rod from 10 K to 270 K. All the 64 tie-rods have withstood the loading and remained in an elastic mode without any traces of plastic behavior.  相似文献
